Hello Paul - Beautiful artwork. And gives a lot ideas for new ideas... The shape is very harmonious and the music to work beautifully and appropriately. This is an exciting and great job.Thank you for posting this artcraft-video! Wishing you all the best! Have a creative and good time!
Thank you very much, Gisela! Love your comment! :)
Beautiful basin...
Impressive! Wish I had your patience.
Thank you! Try to take it slowly :)
Wonderful... great job 👌👌👍
have you tried perlite to mix with the cement , the basin will be lighter in weight
+jesus gonzalez I didnt tried, because the perlite makes the concrete lose its strenght and the lifetime at least in the winter, because in Romania we have very low temperature in the winter..... but perlite it's a good ideea in wormer climates .... thanks for the ideea! :)
I'm surprised.
It is a beautiful and fine work. ( June 2019)
Oh so beautiful.. I wish to have it! 😍 Thank you for sharing your awesome construction methods, brilliant art talent! :)
Thank you very much! You made my day! :)
Wow...... Fantastic, I love your videos...

good work !
Génial ! merci
Ingeniously.many thanks.please tell me in the garden so I cement I want to it's leg round convex. what ratio of cement can be used. Thanks
2 sand 1 cement
Thank you, respect, I thought it was easy
Thank you! ... If you can find a similar plastic flower pot, you can mix some concrete that's a bit stiff and build it in the inside of the flower pot
Sure I will try, Thanks again
Youre welcome!
Paul beautiful work.
Thank you!
beautiful
Thank you!
What a beautiful pot! I'm guessing you make a bunch of these to sell?
Love it! you are very talented!
Thank you Maria! I appreciate! :)
At the end, you use a "coating" of something (looks brown) that you are spreading with your hand. What is the coating?
I used cement slurry (cement + water + pigment)
Beautiful.
Thank you man! :)
what kind of plaster are you using?
Really Super ..... work I loved it.....
Thank you so much!!! :)
Yes, very interesting. I would encourage you to make more videos. More written comments as you proceed would make this actually achievable by a novice like me. Or just do the music and put a material list and sources in the Info section. thanks.
nice bassin
Thank you Claudin Cacelanc!
You can probably mix UHPC (ultra high performance concrete) to a clay consistency and form it like clay pottery (leave out the large aggregate like pebbles).
Yes you can ...I planed to make a big fire pit bowl from concrete without a mold, but I havent had the time ... I'll make in the close future and I will make a video about it
Can you reuse the mold? It took so much effort to make, I hope so! Very nice, so symmetrical and smooth. Kudos.
Yes, I can use the mold to make about 100 pieces. Thank you!
Paul Iascau's studio Oh that's excellent! Very worth the effort, thanks!
Frank Gualtier Youre welcome!.. it all depends on how well you take care of the mold
I tried various material mixed with concrete perlite for weight bronce - grinding lamellar , etc
sencillamente hermoso, por favor ¿que aplicas al molde para que no se pegue el concreto?
Pinto el molde y probé diferentes agentes de liberación, pero para mí, el aceite de motor es el mejor
Gracias!
Of all the beautiful concrete pieces you have sculpted, this seems to be the easiest. Everything you have made has been beautiful beyond words. Thank you for sharing your construction methods. I was wondering though you didn’t use any wire or other thing to increase your basins strength. Was it because of the concrete you used, or something else?
Makyrie Thank you very much! :).... I used fiber glass to reinforce the concrete and also it has very thick walls, so it is strong enough :)
It is mesmerizing
Thank you very much! :)
Awesome! What is the pink stuff you were brushing on the form right before you started applying the plaster?
Thank you! It was soap, but motor oil its better
Thank you! You have definitely inspired me! You make this look so easy, but I'm sure its more complicated than it seems from your video...we shall see! Thank you again!
You're welcome! :)
How did you work out the measurements and how much to trim off
I imagine how I wanted to get
Please Paul, What is the white material that you are using to make the form? Polystyrene??
Yes, it is polystyrene and for the mold I used plaster
nice, now I want oreos tho...
How do you get a granite-look finish for afterwards?? Paint, stain, then sand it? What kind of paint/stain?
I sand it then I used a cement slurry to cover the defects and then I sand it again
Paul Iascau's studio
Thanks. I meant the color and stain though (in your videos thumbnail pictures for example). I want to color mine to look darker and aged/patina. But I don’t know which stains are the best and recommended.
I used just iron oxides as stain
Paul Iascau's studio
thanks for the tip!
Waoo!! Amazing!!
Thank you!
Fantastic!
Thank you! :) I appreciate!

Wow, Great work!! What was the black paint you coated the plaster with, any special kind ?
Thank you very much! I used automotive mat paint, because it dries quick, but any solvent base paint should work..... If you're making something send me some pictures I'll love to see them
Genius!!!Parabéns!
Thank you! :)
Hi Paul, watching your great video, could you tell me where you got the electric cutter or did you make it?
What did you use for creating the mold form? Something like gypseous alabaster or clay?
For the mold I used plaster of paris
Hi, what are you using as a mold release? What type of plaster are you using, seems like it takes awhile to set up.
I used plaster of paris, it sets up in 10 - 15 minutes, and as a mold release I used pork grease, but motor oil its the better
And here I was hoping it was buttercream frosting! :P
Amazing work... Thanks for sharing... 👍 👍 👍
Thank you! and you're welcome!
how soon can you take the basin out of the mold?
24-48 hours
tres joli bravo
j'achete loll
merci beaucoup!
Oh, it really interesting.
We make pot from concrete and sand. It easier and faster
Ly Garden- Vườn của Ly Yes so do we! Much easier and can make huge pots, i thought this technique was very time consuming and the finished pot was rather ugly for all the effort put in .
Using sand/mould method you also get very natural texture too.
Can you teach us this method as well?
oh do show us how it's done please! :P
perfect
The styrofoam ball you were working on had me thinking about the Death Star from Star Wars! Great job on the water basin. Have you made any other types of basins or tsukubai?
Thank you! No, I haven't made other bowls, but I want to make more varieties
Music at 2:45 is Camille Saint-Saëns - Danse Macabre.
what was the finish you added at 11:28 ? sorry I asked the same question in the other video but would really love to know!!
Also at 05:30 what material did you use to make the mold? silicone? and the paint at 09:31 is it for demolding?
Thank you in advance!!
at 11:28 I used cement pigment and water mixture, at 05:30 I used plaster to make the mold, the paint at 09:31 it's used so the concrete wont stick to the mold, but for release agent I used oil.... motor oil it's the best :)
JohnnyWAING ()
Bellísimo!!!!
Thank you!
If you please, what is the name of the wire tool you use to cut the mold?
Hot wire cutter.. I have a video o how I made it... Here is the link if your interested th-cam.com/video/AEtxyGWiPr4/w-d-xo.html
Bellissimo...
It’s totally different from what I was expecting to see by the thumbnail... the original is made of stone.
Божественно!
what its the blue paint you use ?
+jesus gonzalez it's poliurethane paint, any it's good, i just use it to protect the mold and for easier release.... you can use paint, laquer anyting that wont react with the water or with the release agent that you use
Increible
david alvarez Thank you!😁
Is that styrofoam
amazing
great work , i love what you do , so much patient :-)
Thank you very much!!! :)
Here in Puerto Rico its difficult to get granite japanese lamps or zenigatas stone I just made a zenigata stone out of concrete still Im not satisfied 100%
+jesus gonzalez Ya the big challange it's the heavy weight of the stone and the shipping expense..... I will like very much to see you're zenigata stone.... if you can send me some pictures on pauldanidp@gmail.com
Beautiful work but the video could use some text overlays to explain what the heck is going on :)
Thank you! I'll try my best to put some text in the video :)
adorei
beleza pura arte + arte
Thank you! :)
Are you using styrofoam?
Yes, I do :)
What is the info on the music?
I take my music from youtube audio library... the last one it's called Decline by Kevin MacLeod....I dont know the other
Paul Iascau's studio thanks
Yeahhhh! ;)

It is not an easy job too much work
Can I put cement directly on foam box to make planter
Yes, I mean depend on what you're after
Ich glaube ist billiger zu kaufen als so ein Aufwand
I produce them for a living... And, yes, It is much cheaper to buy them
Stone basin used in Japanese gardens especially tea gardens, which are called Tsukubai or Mizubachi, are used to purify yourself and you wash your hands and rinse your mouth using a wooden or bamboo ladle. For that reason the material used to made Tsukubai in Japan is extremely strict. It can only be made of pure stone.
Concrete is highly toxic prompting eye, skin and respiratory tract irritation, and contains calcium oxide, corrosive to human tissue, and chromium, which can prompt severe allergic reactions, and silica which causes pulmonary issues.
Making a Tsukubai out of concrete is a VERY bad idea.
Get a stone and start carving it using stone chisels. It is not this difficult and is way safer.
OR....you can just NOT wash your face and mouth with this one and simply use it as a decorative item? Yeah...we'll go with that one!
@@anthonyjesus6151 The problem anthony is that it will fill up with water when it rains and not only will this water contaminate the soil of the garden, it will also put at risk the birds and other animals coming to drink from it/
My issue is not making a concrete basin, it is calling it a Japanese Basin. We do not use concrete in Japan when it comes to garden ornaments, it is just not acceptable by Japanese standards. So maybe calling it a Brazilian concrete basin or whatever this youtuber is from.
Japanese concrete basin seems as weird as French sulfuric acid champagne !
I'm tired.....XD....too difficult to......!
Thank you! :)
gostei muito e uma pena que não e dublado em portuques
was ist concrete?
A mixture of cement, sand and aggregate
und was sind aggregate? ist das alles ne fertige mischung oder machst du die selber?
I mixed my own concrete, but You can buy concrete mix at the bag and you just mix it wth water. I mix concrete: 2 parts sand and 1 part cement
ahhh also einfach zement... ich versuchs mal. danke :D
You're welcome! :)
OMG, why anyone would go through all that trouble and materials for a basin like that? I rather use that money to buy a real good one!
because I make them to sell
Muibooooooooooooonita
Thaaaank you! :)
Can I buy a mold from you so I don’t make a mess and make my boyfriend mad ?
