  • Easy brake pad upgrade on Rockrider ST100, in fact any bikes with ‘V’ brakes. Squeaking should calm down after the surface of the pad has exchanged material with the rim. If it doesn't, check for 'toe in' adjustment. Some brake pads can also be shaped like a banana when looking down on them, these will likely howl like a banshee until you change them.

Sorry to hear this, you could try toeing them in at the front of the pad, they could be angled so they are closer to the rim at the front of the pad and this should prevent squeak, if it doesn’t then the red wet weather pads can eliminate any noise as they are softer in compound.

This will depend on a lot of different factors, how often you brake, the conditions you ride in, how heavy you apply the brakes, how heavy the bike/load is and lastly the material of the brake block. I really cannot give you a time frame for how long yours will last I am afraid. Some customers brake blocks last for over 10 years, but this is because the bike is used only in summer for a couple of days.
