I'm going for a lower gear. Switched out the 34/48 chainset that came stock on my RC 120 disc, for a ProWheel RPL 421 32/48. Found a ZTTO 11/36 8s cassette and am ordering the microSHIFT MARVO RD-M46L Rear Derailleur so as to handle the 2T increase in drivetrain capacity. I emailed microshift and they confirm the combination will work, although I might need a somewhat longer chain. My lowest gear will drop from the stock 27 gear inches to 24.2, a big improvement for steep climbs. Total cost under 100 euro.
So I've ordered two of the ZTTO cassettes, another pair of brake discs and a new wheelset, Koozer CX 1800, (200 euro). Will then be able to switch wheelsets; 1 gravel set with Hutchinson 38's and one road set with the stock 28's for commuting. Since I originally found the RTC 120 at a 25% discount, I'll get 2 bikes for a totala cost of just 12.5% above list price.

I bought a used 120rc, a guy before me did around 5000-8000 km with it and the tires are still 1st and stock. I did now around 1.7k. And they still hold strong, pumped to 8bars, carrying my weight of 120kg, mostly driven on asphalt, sometimes gravel. So the tires i wouldnt change if some1 plans to drive on gravel or is a heavy persone.

Do you have a recommendation for a gravel tire for the RC120.?
Depends on the gravel, but my faves for clay mud and gravel in the UK are Panaracer Gravel King EXT and Vittoria Terreno Mix, both in a 33mm. Our 32mm gravel tyres are good for the price too, although they are stiff bead/not folding.
very cool to have these unofficial videos on top of your official Decathlon ones! Do you know if Decathlon sell 700x23c or 19c tubeless wheels that would fit on the RC120 rim brake bike? I'd like to get some 35c tubeless gravel tires on the bike. Otherwise, is it possible to convert the wheels to tubeless with some tubeless tape? If not, can you recommend any tubeless wheels on the market that would be compatible with the bike and 35c tires? Thank you!
Thanks Bon! Much appreciated. As far as I am aware Decathlon don’t sell a rim brake tubeless wheel. Mavic Kysrium S are probably the best for that but are about the same price as the bike! You can convert your wheels to tubeless but they can be a pain in the butt, I have used ‘Stans no tube’ kits in the past and these have worked ok. With regards to tyres, Hutchinson Overide and Vittoria terreno mix are great. If you wanted road slicks then the Goodyear Eagles are really good but they are 28mm at Decathlon, but a 32mm is available from Goodyear. Any bike above yours in our road range with discs, will come with tubeless ready wheels, it may be worth thinking about using the buyback scheme to upgrade your bike instead? www.decathlon.co.uk/Buy-Back_lp-NUWRH4

@@TheDecathlonMan Thanks for all the useful details and tips! Do you reckon the wheels of the RC120 Disc brake version (which are 700x17c I think) would accept 35c-38c tires in a tubeless setup? I know the GRVL 520 has 700x23c wheels so maybe 17c would be too small for that?
You are welcome, 36mm is the official max for the RC120 disc, anymore with side knobs or lugs and you may get frame rub.
Got my rim-brake RC120 this month, very happy with it. Thinking ahead, will it be possible to replace the standard 28mm tyres with 32mm, on the same rims? The brakes are the tight point, and even the 28mm tyres need partial deflating to take a wheel off...but are my standard wheels on the rim-brake RC120 able to carry 32mm rubber?
You should be able to fit 32mm with no issue, in fact the RC100 already comes with 32mm rubber. You just need to be careful with any knobbly tyre as this can cause rub depending on the lug of the tyre. There is a quick release lever found on the brake caliper that should be used to allow quick removal of the wheel without the need of deflating the tyre?

I am trying to convert my RC120 to a 1x. I want to put Microshift Sword on it but the crank is only compatible with threaded bottom bracket. Do you know if there are any other 1x cranks out there that could fit my triban? Do you know if I can convert my triban to use a threaded bottom bracket? Thanks!
Hi, the RC120 comes with a square taper BB, the BB shell is threaded and will take a hollowtech BB for the Sword crankset with no issues. The shell is 68mm Road.

Apologies for this novice question, but I reckon it's probably a novice bike. Is a puncture on the rim brake RC120, easier to repair or just the same as on the disc brake version?
Seems like many people have trouble taking off (or remounting) tyres on the disk brake version, but that may be because hardly anybody has made a video about the rim brake bike. I haven't worked out whether the tyre spec for the disc brake bike is different.
The disc brake version seems very cool but I never ride in wet weather so I doubt I need that feature.
Thanks for the question, the difference in ‘difficulty’ in removing tyres from the disc version is down to the tubeless ready wheels. The technique used to remove them is different from a standard clincher rim found on the rim brake bike. With the tubeless ready rims you need to push the tyre towards the centre of the rim off the bead shelf to allow the use of levers if needed. If this is not done first and you try to remove it like a rim brake version it will feel like they are glued on.
