So.... you watch a thousand videos of people playing their lead licks.... and many of them are really impressive. BUT when Jonathan plays, each lead line-to me at least- sounds like a melody, not just someone trying to get as many notes and techniques in as they can. He really is an incredibly "vocal" guitarist!
I own the G3Xn and it is more than I need for like small gigs and recording. I think that the G5n is the best value for the money. You don't need a Boss-1000 to have a good tone everything is there in you, your soul and your playing style
I have a Zoom G1on, and no matter what else I try, I can’t find a modeler that actually sounds better. Your intro only confirmed that opinion, it sounded fantastic!

Same here David .. just got it two months back .. and it's just perfect .. all the amps sound good .. not much tweaking to get a really good sound .. I had a gt 6 before this and compared it with a gt 100 and tone wise it's better like what a multi effects cum stomp box should be .. cheers
I use headrush pedalboard and Zoom G5n together and they sound so great, also you can just use your G5n as a pedal running to the Headrush and just load a IR to make it more better.
I had the same impression you did with the original presets - once I started tweaking them I LOVED the tones I got. For instance, I love to put one delay in front of another with reverb for incredible ambient effects - to the extent where I sold all my other pedals. I have found if you tweak the effects you can make high gain or anything else sound good!
You and your reviews are always welcome to me! I really think that we need more people like you on youtube, who are really honest and authentic in everything they are doing here. This is the way it should always be. Best regards!
You should get the new zoom g1x four which is super small but still with the same tones as the G5n .. and it cost just around 100 USD I think .. check those reviews as well . Or if Jonathan can do one on that as well
Actually this is a great product man. I have one. One cool thing is the headphone out. I take it with me when I travel all the time to practice in the hotel without an amp
I like the idea of the multi effects pedal. You sure did get some very good tones out of the Zoom set up. I wish they weren't so darned complicated, I'm a plug and play guy from way back.
Same here. I also have an issue with these vs analogs as most multi fx gets obsolete pretty quickly while the Boss compact pedals for instance lasts you for years, maybe even pass it on to your kids and grandkids :)
I have had one now for about a year and really enjoy it. Build quality is great, sounds are very good and the menu is very easy to use. I'm very happy with it.

Thr LCD isn't readable from height. At least not with my eyes. That's why I wrote software for Raspberry Pi4 to remote control it via a 22" touchscreen.
Hi Jonathan, how do you compare the Zoom G3n/G5n to other modern FX like Mooer GE200 or Hotone Amperor? I meant in terms of sound as I think the new ones are better in features and control
Hi. Yes the newer ones from the Chinese companies like Mooer and Hotone are really nice. They are well made and thought out. I can't compare the zoom with the Mooer as I have not tried a Mooer yet. All have their strengths and weaknesses. But zoom.. Being around for a long while now have a slight edge in terms of easy usage and sound. ✌️🤓
Jonathan Koh thanks. Hope to see your comparison video soon. The Zoom sound is nice, but just a bit confused about the navigation. Looks like the new ones are easier to dial in the patch with a big LCD screen
For the zoom g5n can the pedal chain in this processor be split before passing in the amp? Like if I have to make wider tones like using two amps one delayed after the other to create a wider tones... To create like a hard panned guitar / dual tracked guitars..... Can I do that in this processor?
Hi Johnathan Great guitarist and reviewer ! Just purchased a reconditioned with full warranty for$239. Is there a post of these patches? They sound wonderful. That is all I need are these 4 patches. Thanks
Hi Jonathan, I love your melodic style of playing, where every note has meaning. Being a composer, I can appreciate that. Although I'm a multi instrumentalist, I'm 'almost' an intermediate guitar player (more due to my slow left hand, not my musical brain.) The good thing about my compositional experience, is, I know where I want to go melodically. I have a pedal board with a Mooer, GE100, biyang fuzz box, Amoon pockverb, hotone rotovibe and a boss harmoniser, however, I would love to have a multi fx unit with lots of stomp buttons where I could have e. g. clean sound for rythm and various different fx for solo work. Is there anything you would suggest? thank you.
6:50 , are you saying that in a live situation using a patch or preset, if you use the volume pedal, the delay and reverb will be effected, you won't just be changing the global volume of the patch? In what way do you meant the delay and reverb will be effected by using the volume pedal?
I meant ..if you placed your volume after the time based effect..when you bring down the volume of the volume pedal, you will also bring down everything including the time based effects. But if you placed the volume pedal before the time based effects...you will only bring down the volume of the dry sounds..so that the time based effects like delay and reverbs will not be affected.
Do you have any tips (aside from making sure that "mic" is set to "on"). I can't seem to get the tones I want out of it. I'm after a more "high gain" sound. I do like the cleans on it, but I think I am just not terribly picky when it comes to that sort of sound. Haha.
