I think the Sound of Zoom's multi effector is limit at the G5n or G5. after G5 or G5n is released, the following models haven't any difference. So, Zoom is adding more functions and features. That for recording or live. if you have an amp enough, you should choose G5n. else, you choose G11 or new models.

I find the Zoom G5n is more darker sound than the G11, but both sound fantastic, I think the G5n can be brighten using the Tone knob on the effects unit, haha I haven't tried it, my biggest mistake when I owned a G5n is, I never use the Amp and Cab sim, because I have a amp, now when I use the Fender Mustang GTX100, that where I appreciate the amp modelers, so I'm planning to buy either a G5n or the G6, but because of this comparisons, I might get back to Zoom G5n.
To be honest, I can't really hear and tell a huge difference between the two units. For me it is not very surprising, that the G5N and the G11 nevertheless don't sound exactly the same, since they remain slightly different (for example considering the additional boost and tone knob on the G5N). However I wouldn't say that the G5N sounds better than the G11. In my view the main difference is that the G11 has much more features, amps and effects than the G5n.
I also like the amp controls on top, and the screen for navigating. I use my G3n as a desk unit, mostly, and the screen on the G11 would make things just a bit easier and faster when I have to reach across the desk to adjust. The size will be a factor, though, and Ill have to make a bit more space for the G11. I like the IR ability, that's huge to me since I like to experiment with them. I can only play with 'phones on 90% of the time, so, being able to change cabs and what not is useful and a lot of fun. The effect loop is cool, too, because I have an MS50g that I won't every get rid of that lives in the effect loop of my amp, or whatever multi that I happen to have. I use it with my G3xn in the output before my interface, even, and it works pretty well.
G5n for me ! Do you feel any major difference in both? i personally do not find any major difference in the effects and amp sims that would justify the price difference what i felt in comparison is that g5 n sounds a lil hollow in distorted tones while the g11 sounded saturated with more low end (sounded more boomy) while g5n sounded like mid scooped which i would rather prefer.
