  • It's time for another lego instructions tutorial!
    As the old methods get outdated, I decided to update my tutorial with the software called studio, which is owned by Bricklink, which is in turn owned by Lego. Great news, since it will likely be supported for longer then!

    I was just wondering, the adding steps seems to be quite manual if you have a large model. I.E if a sub model is say 500 pieces, do you have to manually go in and select the pieces in the right order and create step by step? Is there a way to automate this, then have a look at the steps and edit them if they're not quite right?
    E.G The LDD "instructions" were automatically created, but sometimes a bit weird so I would want to edit them before sending to someone. Is that possible in Studio?
    Thank you!

    • @ThinkCleverAndSmart
      @ThinkCleverAndSmart  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Unfortunately I don’t think there’s a way to do that in Studio since it lacks the ability to generate steps automatically. That’s a downside of the software. :(

    • @ThinkCleverAndSmart
      @ThinkCleverAndSmart  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, this has recently changed and there’s now a button to automate this process! It’s not doing a good job in my opinion, but it may help you part out your model for you to edit afterwards :)

  • @BrickLady
    @BrickLady ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi! tell me, please, from the set 41938 there are letters with prints, (but when you download the details from this set, there are no these letters) how to make these prints can be used in Lego Studio. I really need it.

    • @ThinkCleverAndSmart
      @ThinkCleverAndSmart  ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s an icon in studio, right next to the color picker in the brick list, where you can toggle if you want to see printed parts or not. Then you should be able to find the letters by looking through the list of 1x1 round tiles :)

    I am curious about this use for studio... I have old blue prints of a house from the early 1900's that I would like to use as a basis for creating a lego model of the house...one where I can purchase the bricks, and actually build the model. Does this software allow for such designing? Does it actually allow for drawings to be in a specific scale? Can I import a cad drawing or something similar as a base?

    • @ThinkCleverAndSmart
      @ThinkCleverAndSmart  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@metallidome Hi! I believe it would be possible for you to do this. You won’t be able to import a CAD model directly, but you can import images to use as backgrounds where you can compare the scale. You can also select to only show available pieces so that you don’t end up using pieces that has not been produced. :)

    • @metallidome
      @metallidome หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ThinkCleverAndSmart Thanks. Also, is there a scale that mini-figures are close to, meaning 1/4" per foot or something that is tangible, and useable when making designs?

    • @ThinkCleverAndSmart
      @ThinkCleverAndSmart  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@metallidome Minifigs are difficult to scale, since they don’t really represent a human very well. Based on what I could find, Minifigs are approximately in the scale 47:1 based on humans

    • @metallidome
      @metallidome หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ThinkCleverAndSmart Thanks. That's pretty close to 1/4 scale (48:1). I definitely have to research this one pretty good. As an architect, I am good with CAD, but this will be another level of design if I can get things to work. I see Harry Potter and other castles at Lego shows, and I think that somehow these people have plans drawn up, and that some kind of software is being used to help with brick selection. (or not).

    why does the orientation of objects get scrambled when I link the submodels, like I'm trying to put fingers on a robot, all are assembled identically, only the orientation and names are different, f-5 through f-12 are the names, linking the submodels forces them to all be entirely identical, so all the names are now f-5 and the orientation of all the pieces is changed on just one axis for no discernible reason, some of these parts now have broken connection nodes and must be replaced entirely, trying to rename the parts as normal does not work since it still considers the original names to be in use despite not being there,
    that was just the worst example, this has happened every time, the naming issue happens to all linked entities, and the scrambling issue occurs in any assembly oriented at an angle,
