I just picked up a boss a couple weekends ago myself. Yes 3s all day. If you’re on the stock 54 tooth spur then and 14 pinion you’ll love a 17-19 pinion. 2s wheelies as long as you want and 3s wheelies my god. I’m running 50\16 right now and it’s 3.125 ratio to the 54/17 3 ratio. Motor temps climb if you’re not careful but the smiles and speed is worth it.

Debeaded tire. Nothing more nothing less. Insane. The amount of rocks, stumps anything this thing can find and conquer ive been amazed. Best of luck enjoy the vids!

If you ever get a chance, try zeee batteries 50 for 2 4500 3s and a pro tek charger the 65 dollar one. However, if you do take perfect care of traxxas branded battery it will last a long time, no worries! Also bryce lower pinion if you want more 2s jump!! Leem is rockin it!!!
I’ll just keep the pinion how it is and run the 3s, it’s perfect for now👍🏻. I have several traxxas ID batteries and they have been great! When it’s time to buy more I’ll look into those batteries 🤘🏼

I am a huge traxxas fan I have maybe ten models but I have moved away from the batteries for a while now. When I bought Maxx, recently, i shopped around for batteries and did some research. I wound up with 2 4s 7000 and 2 3s 4500 for other vehicles, 175 for all. One traxxas 6700 4s was 140 and you need a special charger. Total madness! And I wasn’t telling you how to run your truck I was telling you it’s not that slow on 2s Like all Traxxas vehicles geared a little too high from the factory. Have fun with your hoss!!

You don’t need to change anything with your gears when switching between 2 and 3s. If your experienced, go 3s. 2s is good for my son, it’s just a bit safer for him. He can do 3s as well but the truck with just get broken easier.
In your opinion, how does the stampede stack up against the hoss? I was looking to start with the stampede 4x4 for myself. I just bought my 7 yo the 2wd stampede. For casual play, is it worth the extra cash?
The Arrma wasn't hot, he just hit LiPo cutoff. Turn the ESC off and back on and it's good to go. Arrma is really conservative with the LiPo cutoff they put on the factory ESC (around 3.6v per cell, where most are around 3.3v). Personally, I turned my ESC to nimh mode and just run a LiPo alarm so I can choose when to stop running my battery, or have the alarm go off at 3.3v per cell. This will also cure the problem of it going into LiPo cutoff mode during long full throttle pulls. It will do it even more in the grass. The other way to cure this is to run a higher discharge battery. Instead of 50c try a 75c and it will hold the voltage higher during those full throttle pulls and not let the voltage drop to trip your low voltage cutoff. That new version 3 big rock is absolutely awesome, they fixed everything that was wrong with the version 2. Love your Hoss as well, heard that thing will bunny hop on 3s. 👍 Nice video, keep them coming.

i got the hoss its a blast, if you want, change pinion to 17tooth, should run with arrma, might not beat but will be close, and its only $6, and change to a more street tire and it will do cookies and drift as well! oh ps, hoss doesnt have a slipper, its a diff,
I have a Arrma I went a year and a half without breaking a thing. Once you do break something it is super easy to fix yourself. The Hoss would still be a good choice.
The big rock gearing and the hoss gearing is different. The hoss is meant for low speed acceleration and loads of torque and the big rock is more for balanced power and higher top speeds.

Ive never seen the Hoss on a 2S. I bought mine and got a 3s right off the bat. With 3s I tore through axles until I upgraded to the steel ones.
I have been running 3s for a while now and haven't had any issues with axles, I only have issues with stuff when I crash into things haha.

I really enjoyed the stampede but personally I would go with the hoss.

the LVC on my kraton is at 3.2, maybe yours has an adjustable LVC

The 3s is good enough for me
It is always better idea to use 3S and even more with expensive traxxas lipos, if you are a beginner just reduce max throttle in the app.
I was told the opposite that it is better to run 2S than using reduced throttle or training mode
