Typically most of my time is spent creating content for RC. And after over 30 years in the hobby, I still love it to the point where I can turn to it when I need to just do something fun.
Indeed the Hoss can take a beating I've cartwheeled it and rolled her many times now, ran into a shed, trashcan, ran into my tripod broke it, but the Hoss is still rolling. I'm such a Newb i even painted the Hoss body 🤣🤣 love tinkering with it I'm hooooked!! Thanks for sharing buddy I think I will be getting a max soon enough. Another great video Greg!! The burm is crazy fun!! I put together a smaller version at my apartment complex I'm sure the owner will love it!! He's also my boss 😂
I'll add I've only been running it on half power "training mode" so maybe that's why i haven't broke anything 😂 And yes i think my front driveshaft universal is wearing as well, mine wiggle pretty good. Maybe we will see a vid with upgraded parts for the Hoss? I'd love that Greg thanks buddy!!
That Maxx when you switch from the Hoss is just a total beast !! Just handles different both are just super tough trucks and just addicting drive ! I always wondered why they aren’t called Traxxas tough ?😮(ARRMA tough 😁)
Not a big fan of Traxxas, im more of a Tamiya guy, but damn those things can take a beating. Im sure if it was a Tamiya it would not survive that kind of driving. Awesome vid Greg hope you and family are doing well, cant wait for your next upload. Take care.
✌🏻😎🏴Great video dude👍🏻. I go through loads of differential output yokes. It’s kind of annoying me. I picked up another 6 packs yesterday because there’s only 2 in a pack. Traxxas and other brands need to start selling us stuff in bulk with big discounts for people that are serious about the hobby. Especially on things like differential output yokes, boxes of screws and other parts that we need to buy on a regular basis. That’s why people switch brands. They think is going to be better in the long run & a lot less expensive for them.
Wish there was a BMX track around these parts! I currently have a Rustler 4x4 and have been looking into getting one of these two MTs but have been in limbo. That being said, which one would you recommend between the Hoss and the Maxx?
The Hoss 4x4 is a blast and might be a good choice because of the parts compatibility with your Rustler. But if you want a whole new driving experience, the Maxx would be the way to go.
Thats how I feel going from shorter chassis to longer chassiss in general , I get used to speed and control of shorter lighter more durable rigs and driving and enjoyment really noticeable atleast to me ..
The Maxx drive shafts are actually pretty strong. I have about 50 runs on mine using 4S and they've been perfect. They where an issue with the wide Maxx kit before they included the extension pieces and before traxxas fixed the axle issue.
Nice bash. I run 26/46 gearing on my Maxx V2. But I had to change the ESC to a Max 8 from hobbywing. I'm hitting thermal though, so I'll probably gear down a bit. Hehe. The stock Maxx V1 and V2 are just not enough for my speed needs. Which is 48+ MPH off road 🤣🚀😅
The drive shafts are definitely an issue with the Hoss. It's a shame Traxxas didn't beef them up to handle the larger 540xl motor. They hold up great for the Rustler 4x4 with the smaller velineon motor but that's really it.
Man that spot needs a bow rake and a shovel, the dirt WANTS to be smooth and needs lip, it would give your bashing a whole new level. rocks bad, dirt good, lip into landing is the best. good vid but you deserve a better course.
The hoss is lighter and probably has more power to weight. The maxx would be more durable and would probably soak up the bumps better. But I got a hoss because I already had parts built up from my stampede 4x4 vxl and I have been happy with it.
I run the 4s 7000mah smc 120c battery in the Maxx, it feels too heavy. When I throttle it the weight of the battery makes the truck turn to the right when on the two back wheels. A lighter battery would have been more fun with more control.
I need another RC truck like I need a hole in my head. But both the Traxxas Hoss and Losi's Lasernut has me intrigued/baffled. I love the looks and attention to 'scale' and aesthetic detail with the Lasernut, but a 3 or 4S battery with a brushless motor spells disaster in respect to keeping it "looking" good. The Hoss looks typically clownish(as do most bashers) but doing so better allows for "brushless" bashing speeds without worry of the aesthetic consequences. Traxxas's 'modular' design engineering may also prove more helpful with a "basher's" need for maintenance/repairs. Decisions, decisions. P.S. I already own a Traxxas Rustler VXL as well as a Losi Tenacity DB pro. I REALLY don't need another, Lol.
Serious bashing Greg! I enjoyed watching you thrash these rigs. 👍🏻👍🏻 I really would love to own either (or both) of these, but I struggle with the value aspect. They both seem great, but for the average Joe like myself, they are just too out of reach pricewise for what you're getting. Especially when 1/8 scale 6s capable offerings from the likes of Arrma and Corally are in the same price bracket. You'd think that the Juggernaut of bash-oriented RCs would have the means to come in at actually LESS cost than the competition, since they are well established and have a capital stream far beyond any other similar manufacturer. I'm so confused by the pricing on their products these days.🤷🏻♂️ Great vid though Greg. You held nothing back on that bash session! 👊🏻👊🏻
I've been looking at both of those for a couple weeks. I'm gonna buy one soon just not sure which one. Can I use in a park across the street from my house and we go to different campgrounds I'll use it there And will probly take it once or twice to a skate park which one's gonna do better for me? All feedback is welcome
I really luv you TH-cam channel. So I definitely have a question for you i recently purchased a axial scx10 gladiator in red but I wanna make the roof black how or what do I use to remove the paint off the roof only..? Only asking because you seem the most knowledgeable person to ask. Thanks
That is not an easy task to remove the paint from the inside. Your best bet would be to tape off the body on the outside and spray the roof black with a durable paint.
Both trucks look awesome, but I'm kinda disappointed in Traxxas. 1) Those plastic splined drive shafts blew out all the time even in the old-school brushed E-Maxx and Stampede. With brushless in these new units, I don't understand what they were thinking putting the plastic drive shafts in there. I've only watched a couple Hoss videos and it already seems like a very common problem. 2) Why did they do away with the steering servo saver? My E-Maxx came with a servo saver on the steering servo and it held up surprisingly well. I don't understand why they would get rid of that.
That’s a shame those drive shafts are looking a bit weak for the hoss. I know that’s been the complaint on rustler too so figured that would have been sorted
There is a lot of time on the shafts. Remember the video was about 5 minutes of running on video versus the hours I’ve put on this truck off video. Should they last longer than what I got, yup, but I got a lot of runs in on them.
ive put stacks of batteries through my losi 1/8 truggy over way larger jumps doing backflips, getting them wrong and crashing hard alot with out breaking anything, lets face it, traxxas is way over priced for how weak it is.
Love that you include your family, And encourage us and them with positive remarks, Keep bashing and sharing, Your channel content is inspiring.
The Hoss has been such a fun Basher. Im very impressed with mine.

That price though! I want one out don’t want to put up that much money.
@@ajgreen868 it's 1000% worth it!
@@gamingwithdakotaandmore4546 my boy has been wanting one. Maybe we’ll pull the trigger man! Thanks!
I use the hoss far more often than the maxx lol, it is lighter cheaper to fix, simpler and more nimble than the maxx
I love the full sending!
Fun seeing you out just because! My RC time is also my way of getting away for a few moments.

You gotta be missing that BMX track in Trngtn. All the best in your new adventures 🤙🏼

Sometimes going hard till breakage is like a release of stress. 👍🏼👏🏻😜
until you see the price of traxxas replacement parts and then its back to square 1
@@harlyquin traxxas spare parts aren’t that expensive especially compared to armma
Nice bashing around. I have a Stampede and broke the driveshafts exactly the same. I'm definitely going to the Maxx with a next Traxxas
That was the best video I ever seen on TH-cam love it and the battle between the two trucks is my favorite the maxx
Love this!

Hoss popped a shaft fairly easy. Wow
I’m not sure if you still have an Xmaxx but let’s see a video like this with an XMaxx!
Plastic drive shafts on the Hoss and the Maxx super weak! Get the Metal drive shafts ASAP and no problems.

How well do the stock shocks hold up on the Hoss?
