@@luigipowdemo6458 It's a mix of a few things I think. Some people disliked Mater being the focus, some disliked that racing was relegated into the background in favor of spy action film stuff, some disliked both.
I remember it being my favorite out of the cars trilogy when I was a kid. I don’t even remember why I liked it so much, but I wouldn’t stop thinking about it. I think I was just really into spy stuff lol, kinda still am
Cars 2 will always be my favorite in the series. It was a lot of fun through and through. I honestly found the spy adventure to be really neat and didn't have a problem with Mater. I thought he was a lot of fun! They also stayed pretty true to the characters.
I think the main reason why so many people really dislike this movie is because it's such a drastic change from the first one. When the 3rd one came out, it made it look even worse because it felt like more of a continuation of the 1st, and this one was seen as a stand-alone film
I mean, as it's own thing, it's at least a 7/10 in my book. It's just got such ambition and confidence in the insanity of what it's doing that you can't help but like it.
@@thirdcoinedge Pretty much. If it's viewed as a Cars sequel, it falls flat in that aspect. But if it's viewed as a sort of standalone thing, it's solid in some areas.

It’s really entertaining and like watching a long episode of a show. As a sequel for Cars, it isn’t good, has nothing to do with the first film, just turned to a wacky spy adventures with Mater, however as a piece of entertainment, I say it’s pretty good, fails to be a sequel though. I consider Cars 2, an hour long pilot to the Car Toon shorts.
As always, all the kids loved this movie, cause they’re kids, and they’re not on social media, and then there’s all the adults, who examine the movie to the greatest detail for every flaw and error they can find, and include behind the scenes and real life events and company politics, which the kids don’t care about. Just stay off social media, and you’ll be able to retain so much more of your childhood fantasy, excitement, and wonder, and preserve your mental health as well.
Honestly, after watching this reaction, I know why I like this movie. It's the spy stuff. Those spy cars are so cool, they come from different countries too. And the Mater being spy plot kind of ruining it. It would have been cooler if they made a separate movie, not a cars series movie but still in the same universe, but more serious and focused on the spy, instead of this cars 2.
This is the entry in the franchise where most people had or still have unironic love for _while knowing_ it is completely out of place compared to the previous and final entries. Now the Humans are locked away somewhere producing energy matrix style or being turned into oil. But during the war they basically killed all non aquatic life and now they have to fish to feed the humans because most of the farming is still used for the car overlords in some way

I also understand people disliked the second movie cuz it wasn't focused on the race and more on Mater, personally I think Mater getting a spotlight for one movie (in a spy flick no less) is pretty cool!
At 3:05 I’m pretty sure the crabs are cars or some tiny version of a vehicle like every other animal we’ve seen in this series. Also, while we only ever see them drink gas in the movies, as far as I know, we see menus and I believe signs advertising food so, it’s implied they still eat. So, it makes sense that they would be eating crab cars or something like that. I mean, I doubt they have a menu just for different types of gas. There would be only like a few lines on the menu.
Some People don’t like cars 2 because Mater is the main character and lightning McQueen isn’t the main character and this movie doesn’t talk about racing but I actually thought this movie was awesome
Cars 1 is like the Tokyo Drift of the Cars universe. The series hadn’t established itself yet as a worldwide IP but they made a great feel good movie working with what they had. They obviously aren’t as good as what follows because they have more to work with in the future but they have a homey feeling to them. Because ultimately both movies are about finding the way back home but home is really doing what you love with the great people around you who make you feel fulfilled, not a place to go to or a roof to live under. This and the following movie are good but the first movie has soul.
This movie was my favorite as a kid! Me and my brother were obsessed with it, and watched it on repeat for weeks on end. Mom and dad hated it because they got so tired of it lol
0:42 funny fact, one of Pixar's first shorts was about the lamp. I think it was thw introduction to him. You guys need to watch the OG Pixar Shorts. You'll see they have come a long way
This is the first Cars Movie I saw. After watching this I loved it so much I sought out ALL the rest of the universes content, watching not just the first Cars, but Planes and all the shorts on Disney. I fell in love with the goofy but makes no sense reality the characters live in.
This movie will always be guilty pleasure for me. It's so different from 1 and 3, not to mention it's so stupid that it's good. Always felt this movie was overhatted, it's just fun time. I do think it should've been a spinoff movie instead of being sequal to a movie about racing, but it is what it is and I still love this movie
Used to love this movie, especially the intro and soundtrack. Gave me chills every watch. Don't know why most to all considered this movie a bad one. But that's their opinions. Even tho I have seen why, but don't remember the whole thing.
I took a 12½ hour flight to Tokyo in November of 2023. You should absolutely go, it is such a beautiful place and everyone is so friendly. I live in the middle of nowhere comparatively, and it was such a huge culture shock.
I think the reason why this movie got a lot of hate is because Mater's Tall Tales was airing at the same time on Disney Channel. That series is just Mater telling everyone about the time he was famous for doing something ridiculous, only for the ending to suggest that it may have actually happened. This movie is, essentially, a longer version of that format. They even use the same "that didn't happen" gag at the end.
This was the first movie I ever saw at the Drive-In. I was 8 years old. Transformers: Dark of the Moon was playing on the other screen. I brought my set of Shrek figurines…. but I accidentally left Shrek himself there and never saw him again… … and no. I don’t like this movie😂😂
37:41 I know you guys probably wouldn't recognise it but having the British car "reverse the polarity" in order to "turn back time" is so much a Doctor Who reference
I feel like it cannot be overstated how incredible it is that they managed to take something as goofy yet creative as sentient cars, and then make a spy movie with them that is better than 90% of the modern market of the genre.
My opinions on this movie have been a _wild trip._ Watched it as a kid when it came out, and I enjoyed it. As a teen, I hated it after a rewatch and listening to popular internet opinions. Now as an adult, after a third rewatch, I *love* it, and I'm in the same boat as you guys. People just seem to hate fun, how can I not enjoy the crazy adventure this movie provides?
I went through the same experience with the movie. I’m still struggling with letting other people’s opinions on the internet to influence me to think bad about movies before even watching them. Like Moana 2 for example, upon hearing about the second movie I was excited, my opinion changed into a negative one after hearing that people were disappointed, was proven wrong by actually watching the movie.
I am so glad that there are people who enjoy this movie as much as I did. Even after seeing the third film, this is still my favorite Cars movie. The direction alone is so unique and it makes it stand out. I wish we got more films like this in the cars franchise (not including Planes)
fun fact: the opening scene was suppossed to be longer, we were suppossed to watch how they turned leland into a cube of junk even, with the last shot before the cars logo appeared being a pov of leland getting crushed until everthing turns black.
Idc what ya say cars 2 is the best out of all of them in my opinion and haters if you are gonna hate others and this film do it in Ur own time and keep it to yourself cus we film buffs actually enjoy watching films and sharing our own personal rating for the fun of it and enjoyment.
@holayoseremi1788 that's from a sad critics point of view tho lol when fans/film lovers know the truth that this one is the best. but I won't deny number one is good too but only because it's like a life lesson film. Also Critics' are just people who couldn't get into the acting business FACT.
Fun Fact: Mater never removes Dent, because they're precious memories to him, but in Cars 3, the Dent he got in this movie, is gone. The Studio pretended Cars 2 never happened. This movie has been officially decanonized.
This is my favorite movie to come out of the franchise and I don’t care if it doesn’t fit the other cars movies, kid me though Finn mcmissile was the textbook definition of cool, and his theme is a banger. I remember scrambling to collect all the world Grand Prix racers so I could race them all on my hot wheels tracks(sadly I never got the tracks like the oil rig)
"If it wasn't such a long flight I'd love to go to Tokyo, too." _my brain: Tokyo two?_ "Well I'd like to go to Tokyo-3!... Wait a moment, no I don't..."
ahhh i got myself a pizza and a new sorta stupid movie reaction to watch, what a way to finish a long busy day also, Ruff being like a giddy kid the entire time is awesome
Guys, there's a parody animation of the Pixar logo where the lamp accidentally murders the "I" by stomping on it, and he gets put on trial and executed. You can find it on TH-cam, its dark but funny 😂
21:14 Whats crazy is that back when this was in the makings that orange car was supposed to die in the original film, they made up a whole new country and everything to kill him off so no other countries get offended, but they ended up not killing him for reasons I forgot but just know, that guy was supposed to die originally
So in the first movie, the two Miatas flash McQueen by flipping up their headlights at him. That implies that headlights are nipples, meaning McQueen was created without nipples. That _also_ means that the car in the alley selling headlights has no eyes in her face, instead having eyes where nipples would otherwise be. Picture that in human form...
Fun Fact:
This movie has a higher kill count than a lot of horror movies.
Jesus, really!?!
Finding Nemo's kill count is higher
Spy/Action movies tend to do better in that department than most horror movies
They really went from car crashes on a race track, to straight up assassinations and terrorist attacks.

@kamixakadio2441 its good idc the title is good the name cars doesnt mean racing only
@@bajanroyalty5935 "Its good idc"
Incorrect. It is a bad movie, but what you Meant to say is that you like it.
Cars 2 is very notoriously considered a bad sequel, but I personally love it.
It is a great movie, I think no one really deny that and if they did they lied. It just that it is a bad sequel because it didn't really connect with the first one.
@@uzuchihasasuto6996 If you lie to yourself, and pretend this is Not a sequel, you can pretend its a good movie.
A sequel is burdened with the need of being a good sequel, To be considered a good movie.
2:50 My theory is that in the cars world used to be humans and they made Ai, integrated it into their cars and the cars became sentient and turned on the humans. Now the Humans are locked away somewhere producing energy matrix style or being turned into oil. But during the war they basically killed all non aquatic life and now they have to fish to feed the humans because most of the farming is still used for the car overlords in some way
That’s dark …..even for you 😮😮😮😮😮
FINALLY A ONLINE OPPINION THAT ISNT JUST EVERYONE ELSES OPINION
You guys are me watching Cars 2 for the first time but more vocal -- I remember just being in silent awe, it takes "spy cars" and goes completely off the rails with it in the best way.
People didnt like it because the racing took a backseat.
So great to see you all enjoying these movies. The third one tugs at your heartstrings more. But the 2nd movie i feel is the most fun! Enjoy Billys!!
Cars 2 is a fantastic movie, but I personally will always love the 1st movie more
This movie was my favorite as a kid!
I loved your guys reaction to this because I actually like this movie as well and find it more entertaining than the first.
I always had the unpopular opinion that this movie is fun as hell. Glad you guys enjoyed it :D
I've always LOVED Cars 2. I see the hate it gets but honestly, good music, good action scenes- I still love it!!
Live,
Laugh,
Ka-chow.
😉
This movie will always be guilty pleasure for me. It's so different from 1 and 3, not to mention it's so stupid that it's good. Always felt this movie was overhatted, it's just fun time. I do think it should've been a spinoff movie instead of being sequal to a movie about racing, but it is what it is and I still love this movie
Used to love this movie, especially the intro and soundtrack. Gave me chills every watch. Don't know why most to all considered this movie a bad one. But that's their opinions. Even tho I have seen why, but don't remember the whole thing.
after Cars 3 you guys definitely need to watch Cars on the Road, it gets pretty crazy. dinosaurs and clowns and shit
I took a 12½ hour flight to Tokyo in November of 2023. You should absolutely go, it is such a beautiful place and everyone is so friendly. I live in the middle of nowhere comparatively, and it was such a huge culture shock.
Hands down you guys best movie and best reaction ❤
This movie is Absolute Cinema
0:42 An entire video about this singular lamp?! They’d be crazy to concoct such a film!
*cough cough* Luxo Jr.
Now you just need to watch cars 3
It'll be on Patreon this Friday and will be on TH-cam soon.
Cars 2 is still my favorite out of all the movies
Cars 2 is so over hated it’s insane glad to see people out there who still enjoy it
0:40 THERE IS! There’s the Pixar shorts and one of them is about the lamp, you HAVE to watch these they’re so good!!!
This was the first movie I ever saw at the Drive-In. I was 8 years old. Transformers: Dark of the Moon was playing on the other screen. I brought my set of Shrek figurines…. but I accidentally left Shrek himself there and never saw him again…
… and no. I don’t like this movie😂😂
Spongebob predicted Cars 2: EVERY VILLAIN IS LEMONS
Otherwise known as evil
37:41 I know you guys probably wouldn't recognise it but having the British car "reverse the polarity" in order to "turn back time" is so much a Doctor Who reference
You should watch cars 3 and the cars on the road show. Both of those are worth it.
Edit: they explain the dinosaurs in cars on the road
Don’t forget Mater’s Tall Tales!
I was about to say those two things but thank you for mentioning it
I feel like it cannot be overstated how incredible it is that they managed to take something as goofy yet creative as sentient cars, and then make a spy movie with them that is better than 90% of the modern market of the genre.
I'm glad that you didn't listen to the comments and enjoyed this movie like I did
3:00 the better question is are the crabs tiny cars? How does cannibalism work in the Cars universe
33:24 Bree saying parkour made me laugh so much harder than it should have she’s so real for that
At 33:41 EVERY! VILLAIN! IS! LEMONS!
Also known as EVIL!
I am so glad that there are people who enjoy this movie as much as I did. Even after seeing the third film, this is still my favorite Cars movie. The direction alone is so unique and it makes it stand out. I wish we got more films like this in the cars franchise (not including Planes)
fun fact:
the opening scene was suppossed to be longer, we were suppossed to watch how they turned leland into a cube of junk even, with the last shot before the cars logo appeared being a pov of leland getting crushed until everthing turns black.
overhated movie. Its so good
Idc what ya say cars 2 is the best out of all of them in my opinion and haters if you are gonna hate others and this film do it in Ur own time and keep it to yourself cus we film buffs actually enjoy watching films and sharing our own personal rating for the fun of it and enjoyment.
The other 2 are better in the sense of critics, this one’s super fun
@holayoseremi1788 that's from a sad critics point of view tho lol when fans/film lovers know the truth that this one is the best. but I won't deny number one is good too but only because it's like a life lesson film. Also Critics' are just people who couldn't get into the acting business FACT.
This movie is fucking awesome. I will die on this hill
Fun Fact: Mater never removes Dent, because they're precious memories to him, but in Cars 3, the Dent he got in this movie, is gone.
The Studio pretended Cars 2 never happened. This movie has been officially decanonized.
I remember loving this as a kid and being shocked by internet reviews later on, you guys might be the first I’ve seen that liked it lol
17:17 “No Wonder they were all taken.. shit”
Me: Hehe “Takin shit”
“Cinematic Masterpiece”. Y’all are officially my favorite reaction channel.😭😭
Edit: Sean 100% a pre watcher
This is my favorite movie to come out of the franchise and I don’t care if it doesn’t fit the other cars movies, kid me though Finn mcmissile was the textbook definition of cool, and his theme is a banger. I remember scrambling to collect all the world Grand Prix racers so I could race them all on my hot wheels tracks(sadly I never got the tracks like the oil rig)
"If it wasn't such a long flight I'd love to go to Tokyo, too."
_my brain: Tokyo two?_
"Well I'd like to go to Tokyo-3!... Wait a moment, no I don't..."
React to Cars on the Road before Cars 3 please its a great mini series
In all my years of watching Cars 2, I never once noticed that dirty joke at 18:15. 😂😂😂😂
Cars 2 is a fukin masterpiece idc what ppl say its a masterpiece
33:58 Man Ruff sounded perfectly like Niko Belic in GTA 4! 😆👏
You got admit it this sequence 5:50 is badass
0:29 HOW DID YOU KNOW?!
ahhh i got myself a pizza and a new sorta stupid movie reaction to watch, what a way to finish a long busy day
also, Ruff being like a giddy kid the entire time is awesome
Your guy's continuation of questioning the Cars universe never fails to make me cackle. 😂
Guys, there's a parody animation of the Pixar logo where the lamp accidentally murders the "I" by stomping on it, and he gets put on trial and executed. You can find it on TH-cam, its dark but funny 😂
Cars 2 is personally my favourite movie out of the trilogy because of the wackiness alone 😂
Finally someone appreciates this movie!
21:14
Whats crazy is that back when this was in the makings that orange car was supposed to die in the original film, they made up a whole new country and everything to kill him off so no other countries get offended, but they ended up not killing him for reasons I forgot but just know, that guy was supposed to die originally
11:00 sean shouldve said "shes looking to blow his head gasket" 😹
I laugh so hard when u guys gone crazy overthinking with theories abt the cars world logic ahahahahahahahaahaha 😂😂😂
Now prepare for an emotional ride with Cars 3
FYI the third one is more like a sequel to the first one and pays homage for racing
29:27 when mater was disguised as the other tow truck he looked like Steve Harvey
So nice to see others enjoy quality car-themed spy thrillers.
I don’t care what critics and my friends say, this movie is AWESOME!!!
