exactly, all you gotta do to make dave happy is cut your normal large pie dough ball in half, stretch the crap out of it to make it a 16 inch circle, paint a little sauce on it, a handful of any mozzarella and then burn it to smitherines and youll get an 8.5 or higher
I'm all for thin crust pizza, but if you like it that thin, just get a flat bread. A lot of flavor comes from the dough, and you miss that when it's that thin
A lot of One Bite fans will take a trip to Sally’s the Mecca and find exactly this. It’s extremely thin and crispy but if you are expecting rich cheesy goodness you will be disappointed.

I know a lot more about pizza than him, he doesn't even know the basic cheeses still on his favorite slice. He complains about parm being on pies (its ususally pecorino) when New Haven is only pecorino or parm reggiano usually and that's his favorite. NJ has 10x more pizza places that are 8.5+ or 9+ than CT, and has had thin pizza for 100 years here. I have family who own a pizza spot that is pretty famous and grew up around it too. Dave still doesn't even know what a Neapolitan is... and his taste in specifically thin crust pizza only is amateur hour. Granted, it is great that way and some of the best, to just discount any other style right away is because he has a palette that developed in Massachusetts. Its like people liking pineapple on pizza in Canada or the Midwest because they've never had a good slice.
