Great job guys, catch and release is always a good thing when it comes to a large fish, it makes better breeding stock

I could be wrong, but in B.C. I think it's illegal to capture and kill them, you have to let them go back.

This is a Pacific sturgeon. It is the Atlantic variety that are now endangered. In some area they can not be fished for at all.

Been fishing Sturgeon all my life.
Started in the California Delta, these fish get big.
I still remember the story of the Antioch Bridge.
The Divers that went down to repair the Antioch Bridge Years ago Claim to have seen Sturgeon as big as a School bus.
You may laugh but I bet there's some Real big ones that haven't been caught yet.

+GP80400 you should plan a trip north one day, I guarantee you there are monsters not even caught or tagged yet lurking down here in BC

For sure, these things like over 100 years, even longer if left alone.

The only thing better than catching a fish like this is releasing it back into the wild and knowing its going to grow bigger!

i know there's big sport in fishing... but i think we should stop sport fishing for sturgeon. they are now an endangered species and we have no idea how delicate they are. being hooked and then captured, even temporarily, is just stressful on the fish. just leave these fish alone.
