are you taking the hooks out of the fish or just cutting the line? seems like leaving a huge bait like that like hooked in the fish gut is going to kill them
You guys ever guide off the shore? We've gotten 6-10' sturgeon right off the shore on the snake between Swan Falls dam and CJ Strike. AMAZING fish and I'm lucky enough to say I've landed a few monsters in this fishery.
My only question is, how do they bite? I wish the video showed how they bite. Are the big sturgeon gentle biters like the smaller ones? I caught a 57 inch sturgeon recently and it didn't bite hard. Do those big one bite harder?
Just a question about the Rig you are using. Isn't that a sturgeon death trap if the weight get stuck and the main line breaks and leaves that big weight attached to the bottom of the river stuck? It looks like it to me. That is why people put the weight on the main line. Right? Just saying.
I've been fishing at a slough lately in the bay area. The last few times I went I have had a hand full of bites, but I couldn't hook them. One time my pole almost went in the water and still missed it.
Well from catfishing, they give a real nice tug when they pick it up and run and it follows their mouth until it reaches the corner and sets itself then you just have to reel it in. I imagine it's the same with sturgeon but I could be wrong....
Hey John my name is Will. Ive watched a few of your videos and i gotta say i can only dream of fighting a few of these sturgeon. I was wondering, i am 17 and have a budget of about $4-500 on a good sturgeon rod and reel, i was wondering maybe you might have some recomendations for a good rod and reel to use in deltas and more for bank sturgeon fishing? I hope to hear some input:)thank you:)
The 12 foot big water casting ugly stick is a good bank rod (about 75 dollars). Penn squalls and diawa sealine i have heard are good reels. Thats about another 100 to 120 dollars and i would spend the rest on weights line and other terminal tackle. My suggestions if you havent gotten your gear already
Casey Rivera the reason.you can not keep a green sturgeon is they have fewer numbers and the department of.fish and game can not.locate were they spawn and they have a higher mercury content
I'm trying to learn to catch sturgeon in my home lake...Awesome Video and my new "Must Watch" Channel...thanks for sharing......I just subscribed to your channel...Check out my latest fishing videos...
Chris Alnutt I Live in Washington State. It is illegal to keep them all the way up the Oregon and Washington coast line and all rivers in between. It is legal to fish for them though. It is legal to keep them in certain areas. Only a few keeper days on the Columbia river in the Bonneville reservoir pool. And quotas are set for the other pools above the dams. 300 fish 43-54 inches in the Dalles pool and 500 fish 43-54 inches in the McNary pool. Until quota is met. Catch and Release is aloud after quota has been met.
Charlie was an awesome guide! one of the nicest guys I've met

Wow those baits are huge. I caught two over 8 feet out of the Fraser River a couple of weeks ago on a 1 1/2" long piece of lamprey eel.
I’m stoked I found a perfect sturgeon lake near my house like 3 miles people said they stock it with sturgeon

Most often they bite very light. You must watch the rod tip closely. However, once in a while they suck in the bait and take off. Thanks for watching.
+LJP707videos They almost inhale the food/bait so they're typically harder to detect

+Slanted eye g Get High Ent Use a circle hook, they work their way to the corner of the mouth and hook the fish without you having to set the hook.
Steve Oliver when is the best time to set the hook? Do I wait for the line to go slack then set as it tightens up or set it on a down pull?

***** thanks I'll keep that in mind. I'm thinking about heading out around the end of the month. Do you think sturgeons are active this time of year?
***** I caught my first sturgeon in march. I'm in the bay area California. Wanted to go try it out at sloughs but is been raining a lot lately.
What's the name of the knot you used to tie around the bait??? I'm curious if it'll work on Bluegills for catfishing
Half hitch.
Fantastic video
How can I get some custom seeker rods like those ?
love to try that..if you have any opens in the future please let me no..thanks I enjoyed it.
what the best bait to use for strugen fishing sir
Native fish in the river.
i caught a sturgeon, and also a sucker fish with my hands bc i'm a native and natives can survive in the bush and build a cabin and get our own food
Nice release

will vas That's a pretty healthy budget for a rod and reel, how far will you be casting?
Get an ugly stick tiger

what kind of rods are them?
Not sure but ugly stick tigers work well for sturgeon
Why ball weights instead of pyramid?
They don't get hung up in the rocks as easily.
Why is it illegal to keep these? And why are the green species completely off limits?
Casey Rivera They are endangered

Best thing to use to caught these things is oysters in a nylon sock. try it.
Nice!!!!
Fisherman haven't heard that lead will kill you, or so the 'official' fable goes anyway.
