    I was super excited that Luke and Sabrina could come fishing with us because I have been watching their travel and food videos for a couple of years now! Check them out at: th-cam.com/users/ToastWithJim
    Many thanks to my buddy Lang who continues to deliver. Check out his charters at: www.langsfishingadventures.com
    Finally, thanks to Tourism Chilliwack and Coast Hotel for making this episode possible!

    Another great video Rod. Congrats on landing such a beautiful sturgeon and helping to show off our legendary local fishing.

      Thanks Glen! We always need that reminder how amazing this little corner of Canada is and the best way to do that is by taking visitors out. 😃

    Wow!!! Don’t know what was more impressive the chum on the first cast or the size of the Sturgeon... Another fantastic video Rod!

      @FishingwithRod  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Larry! That chum salmon on the first cast kind of ruined the video. 😆 I was hoping that Lang would demonstrate it, then Luke would hook the first one on his own. 😉

    Thank You Rod, this was an incredible video! I never expected to see a sturgeon that big! Just Amazing!! Really, Thank You So Much Rod!!👍

      @FishingwithRod  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Our sturgeon in the Fraser River are really amazing. The average size you typically see are between 4 an 6 feet long. Just about every trip we've been out with Lang, we've encountered a 8 footer or longer... 😉

    Awesome video! And what a giant sturgeon, wow! Sore muscles for days :D It's really thought-provoking, seeing such an old animal in the wild.

      Thanks! It’s a really fun experience but also allows those who try it for the first time to learn a lot about these fish, take part in the tagging program and generate more conservation funds by purchasing the conservation surcharges.

    My favourite fishing memory of 2020 was in November. I got to take out my new 16 footer out for the first time, and on the Harrison River. It was extra special to me as I had my toe partially amputated due to an injury earlier in the summer. It was a day to distract me from my toe issue. Yeow!!!

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kitty told me about the injury! Glad you got the boat out. 🙂

    Love the surgeon episodes. All we have down here are pallid and shovelnose, much much smaller and pretty scarce. No hookset? Is Lang using circle books now?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yep Lang has been using circles for at least a couple years now. I think the first time we filmed this technique with him was in November 2017.

    I did not expect to see you catch such a bright Chum this late in the year. The border really needs to reopen soon so I can hit BC waters again

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This trip was back in early October, I'd say the chance of encountering a bright chum salmon is pretty slim now but not impossible.

    • @FishingwithRod

      October is indeed the best month to be around here. Sturgeon in the Fraser River, salmon in smaller streams, mushrooms in the bush, lake fishing for trout is also excellent too. 🙂

    Rod I am going to be trying to catch some Chum this weekend, do you have any suggestions for how to prepare them? I know their meat isn't as flavorful as Coho or Sockeye or Chinook. Any suggestions for the eggs?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This year we have been smoking the couple of chum salmon we kept and it has been amazing! The key really just comes down to the freshness of the fish, every salmon species can be great as long as they are fresh and prepped in the right away.

    could you possibly be anymore 2020 ?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Certainly nothing wrong with identifying the gender of a fish. A sturgeon at this size is typically a female.

    • @speedbird1598
      @speedbird1598 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this may shock you, but giving fish genders is not part of the woke agenda, it is just biology. Nothing wrong with saying "him or her" when you're not sure
