    I'm so jealous!!! Awesome seeing the gears turning in your head. "Where's the burn, where's the heat?" Great video!

    Pear, cherry, plum,rose hip. Try a small volume if you get enough flavor. If you do not try fresh try dry with no sulfur. The hip just dried :)

    Absolutely speechless, the look on your face is that of amazement! Tell Jesse how to you first clean out your big fermenters before you use them?

    Ha,ha,ha..! Oh man, it's so good to see your first impression about your homemade neutral. Now you know how a Vodka /neutral SHOULD taste..! The lack of the burning sensation is...the lack of crap in your spirits..! It's not like the crappy bottom shelf shit that is sold around (with a huge amount of taxes btw). You just discovered the taste of quality spirit, instead of crappy swill. I can assure you if you get a good recipe for Whisky...you'll be amazed by how that tastes (even if it fresh from the still and not on wood yet).
    Congrats on your step forward into the world of fine spirits, you'll never look back..! Btw...you'll begin to taste heads in commercial stuff that is offered to you (I'm not kidding). Now take care and enjoy the fruits of your labor responsible.

      I may have had a sip of a commercial spirit the other day, my first thought. "Oh . . . wet dog . . . and cementy chemically crap. That tastes like tails!"
      Honestly flavor wise I couldn't pick up a lot in the heads. And just flavor I kinda liked it. Sweet fake fruit. But yeah I did get the burning/pickiness.

    So I am wondering why you cut the proof with a calculation instead of using a Proof hydrometer? Wouldn't a hydrometer be more accurate?

      One question that I've had and never asked anyone is, during any part of the process are there any offensive or other smells or odors? I have yet to try my this on my own, but when I do, I'd like to know if this would be something to keep in account. I totally understand the need for good ventilation to prevent a buildup of vapors, just not sure if there is a stink issue, also. Hope to hear back from you, keep up the good work!

    • @StillIt
      @StillIt  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A couple of things come to mind.
      Boiling an AG wash can have a fairly strong smell to it. But I guess that's more for beer when it boils away for an hr or more. It's not bad, just a strong rich malt smell.
      The fermentation can have a fairly strong smell. I don't know if its "bad" I guess it depends on the yeast strain and your personal preferences.
      So far all of the tails that come off the still stink the worst. But it is also a relatively contained smell. It doesn't really fill the room.
      good things to keep in mind if you are trying to keep a significant other happy?? haha

    Jessie don't be teasing me like this lol is it that good for real?I've got a sacrice run almost ready and a ferment underway for drinking mines a tpw but from your expression I don't think I can wait I might just run the sack run now so I can be ready for the real deal lol been a year an a half for me so I'm about as anxious as a kiddie on Xmas eve lol

    • @StillIt
      @StillIt  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +iwantit162 yeah dude. It's pretty nuts being that close, and yet just not quite there right?!?
      I'm positive that there was some bias/hype involved. But yeah dude. Looks like a noob can make something that is well worth drinking ;)

    • @iwantit162
      @iwantit162 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      awsome jessie,im thinking of cheating and doing my water and then vinegar run tonight my sacrificial is at 12.5% now so would be good to run its only 25ltrs for a sac run so shouldnt need to be perfect just need to get some of that alcohol to polish up the insides and do a thorough clean and get a feel for the beast.only problem ive got is no packing at present.should be fine for a sac run tho

    • @StillIt
      @StillIt  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sweet dude!
      Did it all work out? Yeah, I didn't have my packing in for the sac run either.

    • @iwantit162
      @iwantit162 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey jessie my first run (i didnt record legal reasons self incriminating ect lol) i ran my 3 cleaning runs and then ran a 40ltr wash through my keg part reflux of tpw which gave me 5 litres of 90% white rum (i dont know if its the tomato or the stainless scrubbers but tastes like bacardi white) its frickin awsome tho!i didnt taste smell or feel any foreshots or heads but discarded 150ml fores and 200ml heads put to one side.im going to try your ffv soon once i have some empty bottles again also going to do a kale sugar wash!its awsome ive got about £150 of rum for under £15 (roughly 12 litres once tempered down) 2 decent runs like that and ive already saved myself the cost of the still onwards and upwards buddy wahooo.
