It is so nice to see after she Judi survived Covid and a son passing away, she is still trucking.
This is so awesome. To this day I associate the song Almost Paradise with Beth and Lujack. I was 5 years old at the time, and it’s still stamped in my memory. Guiding Light was my favorite soap, growing up.
@PopLife-hb3ks me too every time I hear that song I only see Beth and Lujack.
It broke my heart when Lujack died. I really wanted Beth and Lujack to be a long term couple.
Lujack's death was heartbreaking.

I saw Vincent Irrizary in 1984 at a mall in Manalapan, NJ. He was so kind and gracious to the fans. He has been fantastic in every show in which he starred. Judi Evans is an icon. Beyond talented. She is so talented and becomes her characters in such a captivating way. I hope to see them both again. And to Judi-I checked every day to see if there was news on your health. I held every good thought for you. Daytime makes families. Thank you once again Alan.

Beth Chamberlain never WAS Beth to me. She played a good character, but to me it wasn't the SAME Character. She should have been a different character, because that character that was almost villainous wasn't Beth.
@@patriciajones4206 I had stopped watching by the time the new Beth playing Beth started so I never developed a sense of her character and how she interacted with the storyline and the other people of Springfield. For me, watching in the late 70's and early to mid 80's at my Aunt Alda's house after school or at my Great Grandmother Winifred's house, it was where I became a fan of the lives of the people of Springfield (And most of the CBS soaps of that day) and in the end, it is the 4-musketeers (the original ones with either Rick actor) that is where my fandom finds itself. I stopped around the time Grant left in the 80's and had the new "Bolger?" actor who came in and I just could not relate to him. Good actor. Miscast, in my opinion. Judi will always be "my Beth" and Grant's Phillip is the only Phillip and is always her soul mate in my years-ago teen age mind.
@@sdsconstruction Yeah, I think you meant either Phillip actor, not Rick actor. Rick had the same actor playing that character the whole time. I agree with you though, Grant is always Phillip to me, just like with Beth Chamberlain's Beth, John Bolger's Phillip was not the same character to me. Beth Chamberlain's Beth never ever mentioned lujack again, and I do believe it was Lujack, not Phillip that was Beth's one true love, the character would have at least talked about Lujack after her mourning episodes. Judi Evan's Beth never forgot her friends, INCLUDING Phillip, Grant Alexander's Phillip was jealous of Beth and Lujack, and didn't like him, he wouldn't have been as sentimental about Lujack as John Bolger's Phillip was during the funeral. that was out of character for Phillip to me.
@@patriciajones4206 hey there PJ….Phil macGregor played Rick from 82-83 before being replaced by the incomparable Michael O’Leary in 83 to the show’s end. Sadly, I think I will secretly agree with you about Beth’s depth of relationship for Lujack even though I always rooted for (what we got in the end thankfully) the Rick-Mindy pairing and the Phillip-Beth pairing and all four riding into the sunset so to speak in the last episode. For me, growing up a teenager while they were playing slightly older teenagers, that was where I was really invested in the storyline. I now enjoy seeing old late-70’s and 80’s episodes on TH-cam. They take me back and honestly, the CBS soaps were so much a part of my winter and bad weather afternoons, these characters feel like revisiting old friends. Weird?! And the nostalgia of when my life was simpler and those two amazing women, Aunt Alda and Grandma Win were still here with some years yet ahead of them. Great times for me though I did not know it while I was living it. Great conversation!

Great show Judi will always be Beth. I was a Beth & Philip fan. But completely have enjoyed all of Vincent's portrayals thereafter. Great actor. Magnificent actress. Thank You Alan. I soo enjoyed this reunion 👍

BRINGS BACk MEMORIES OF WATCHING THIS WITH MY GRAND PARENTS WHEN I WAS A KID...
Growing up in the 80's my mom watched the CBS soaps including GL which means I did too when I could.. This reunion and so many others that you've brought together have been great to see and bring back a lot of memories from that time.
I loved this reunion. Vincent and Judi are two of the most genuine, kind, and lovely people. No wonder I was drawn into their story all those years ago. It was beautiful to see how much they truly care for each other. Thank you for bringing these two back together. ❤️

Omg...I was in eighth grade when the Beth & Lujack love story was on, and my BFF and I were obsessed. We would run home from school to watch together every day!

One of my earliest memories of Guiding Light was Beth & Lujack on that beach. I was 12 or 13 at the time and home sick from school. I didn’t understand the storyline or why these kids were off on the beach but I was hooked because it was a teenager’s dream. No parents, no worries, just two kids in love. Of course, I thought they were some place exotic and it turns out they were in Long Island! I always felt that there were two Beths, as good a Beth Chamberlain is, it was an entirely different take on the role and became a different character to me (much like the three entirely different Blakes). I missed Judi! It’s so good to see her recovering and she still seems so young. Vincent grew into the gentleman we all could see in Lujack, character comes through and I think Vincent has lived up to the gentleman you could see in him all those years ago (even when he was the scrawny guy with the fedora “and the nose!”). Thank you again, Alan, I never imagined you could get these two together, so glad that you did! Please keep up the incredible work!

This was fantastic! I am over 60 and I grew up watching this because my mother watched it for many many years too. I and many many others wish there was a way to bring this show back (with the original actors) even if it is on the internet or a once a week show. The characters truly seemed to be a part of our lives. That show was in a league of it's own. In watching some reruns on youtube I realize it was because of so many things. To name a few: the writing, the casting, the actors who did such a great job, the story lines, and the fact that so many of the actors were theater actors.
This is so good!!! I use to watch GL as a kid in elementary school. I remember them both. I was definitely team Philip and Beth. Good memories.

I wonder if it was Elvera who played Hope Spaulding that Vincent met at his waiter job before he started. She left around the same time.

I have to say, again, how wonderful these reunions are ... And I must say having GL and others (I only watched GL) came back after 9/11 was a comfort. I really wish GL was still on. Also, The Galahads may have been in response to the New Romantics music thing going on... Duran Duran, Etc... I don't know... But my guess...

I know I am a week late, but my sister had knee surgery last week and I finally had the time to watch tonight. Vincent and Judi were wonderful in those roles. I was in my first year in college when they became a screen "couple" I watched GL faithfully every day until it went off the air. I am sending healing thoughts to Judi and hope for a speedy recovery. Vincent never ages. Wow this really brought back great memories. Thank you Alan. P.S.: I am friends with Jill Lorie Hurst.

Love these two 💕💕 Beth and Lujack Forever 80s I'm glad Mrs. Judi is doing better and I hope she has completely recovered since this was from last year. It was really nice to have a Judi/Beth Vincent/Lujack reunion. I was a teenager then and it still brings back so many wonderful memories for me when I go back and watch some of those Guiding Light scenes with Beth and Lujack. Fantastic to see Judi and Vince together again and glad she is doing better, I was a fan of "Lujack and Beth" and wasn't happy when they decided to break them up, it was weird to see Judi with Grant, Beth Chamberlin' s Beth seemed more suitable for him but still it was a major blow when they both left Guiding Light..
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU Alan for another amazing, highly anticipated reunion. I've been looking forward to this one since it was announced. So great to see Judi Evan doing well. I've been so concerned about her since the accident. She looks amazing, healthy and so happy. I was definitely team Beth/Lujack (more so than Beth/Phillip). I remember both Judi and Vincent's first episodes. Both are such talented actors and most importantly appear to be incredibly genuine individuals.
Vincent's departure in 1985 had such a profound impact on the G/L's ratings. Basically, with Lujack gone, Judi Evans' Beth character was left wandering around with no identity or purpose. The reuniting of Beth with Phillip (John Bolger recast) after Vincent's departure never fully worked or resonated with the viewers, so it's somewhat understandable why Judi left 1986.
It was such a treat for long-time G/L viewer, such as myself, when Vincent returned in 1991 as Nick McHenry, a polar opposite character from Lujack. The Nick character is such a testament to Vincent's talent. The ability to create a new twin character that the audience accepts and never questions authenticity, is the sign of a true actor who fully master his craft. I LOVED the Nick/Mindy pairing sooooo much. Alan, any chance of booking Vincent and Kimberley Simms for a reunion???

I loved Lujack and Beth.
Judi Evans was the TRUE & BEST Beth Raines. When they finally brought the character Beth back after a two year absence - I was sour that Judi wasn't going to replay her role. Beth and Lujack were the best young couple at the time.

I took the long and winding road to Beth and Lujack. I had been an AMC slave from 1973 to the end, and so I had no idea that such a wonderful young couple existed until longtime Vincent fans waxed poetic about them and said you must see them! A generous veteran GL fan sent me six 6-hour tapes edited to Lujack and B/L in early 1999, just in time for me to enjoy while I was unexpectedly recuperating at home with a broken ankle. Needless to say, I was enthralled, and I've watched all 36 hours every year since, always crying at the end when Lujack dies in Beth's loving arms! 😥 Thank you Alan for bringing Vincent and Judi together for us again and asking such thought-provoking questions, and to them for sharing their memories! 😊

I know this message is 2 years old but any chance you are interested in selling copies of those tapes. TH-cam has some Lujack episodes but alot are missing.
@renla71 I have a 6-hour tape edited to Lujack/Beth, taking them to about the end of 1984. I don't think it has all scenes, but it's engrossing nonetheless! I don't want to lose my original tape and now don't have a way to duplicate it, so I'll see what scenes are already on YT and try uploading what isn't there. I can't guarantee if it'll work and how long it'll take, but I will try, to "pay it forward" to devoted L/B fans! 😊❤️

@@DavidsMuse I'd appreciate anything you can do. I know it can be time consuming. I was about to buy a vcr off of Ebay just so that I can watch some oldies but goodies.LOL. TH-cam is missing alot of stuff like what led him to go to the beach and alot of other 1984 so again, thank you so much for what you can do. If you ever can get them transferred from VHS please remember me. I will pay whatever. 🙂

Thank you for this video, it was nice to see Vincent and Judi, and I am glad to hear Judi is getting better, miss her on DOOL.
When they were both on Days of our Lives a few years ago, I don't think they had one scene together.
The first time I saw them together on Days, Judi's character nwas screaming at Vincent's and accusing him of doing something to her son. It felt so wrong, I was like, "Noooo! Beth isn't supposed to be cussing Lujack out!"

Tom Trout I would love for John, Lisa, Kristen, Kevin, Marsha Clark, Denise Pence, and Tom Nielsen to do a reunion. I just loved all of those people. Those were some great storylines. But Kelly and Nola, absolutely the best. One of the best confrontational scenes ever on soaps. Lisa and John were both robbed of Emmy noms that year.
@@der22672 again, when the Texas team took over classic GL ceased to exist and it really became a new show. I’d love for that reunion too! Just a great group of talent that brought a lot of younger viewers to GL. I agree Lisa and John were robbed big time at the Emmys. Lisa should have had several for Nola. Typical political bias at the academy.
I remember the storyline where Beth was raped. It really upset me. Great acting. When Lujack was killed off, I refused to watch the show for a long time.
