I remember Kim Zimmer as a tornado showing up in Springfield. She brought so much vim and vigor to the show. I loved her and I loved Robert and Zimmer's chemistry. Liz Kiefer was a wonderful Blake Thorpe. Jerry verDorn was always the voice of reason. And Maureen Garrett you deserved so many emmy's playing counter to Michael Zaslow. He truly worked that role and no one could play Roger Thorpe like he did.
There has never been a better Soap. Miss this show, great seeing you all. I said it before and I'll say it again Guiding Light was and is the G.O.A.T of Soap Operas ❤️❤️💞
In it'd heyday, the show was fantastic. The last decade of the show was not very good. The actors, director, production teams were always great, but the writing and character development just wasn't at it's best.
G/L was at it's best from 1975-1984. The mid 80's were a bit lackluster, however, there was a definitive resurgence in the late 80's into early 90's (around 1988 - 1993). Hands down my favorite soap of all time (along with ATWT and Y&R in it's heyday). G/L is like home to me. I remember coming home after school as a kid and watching with my grandmother who watched ONLY the CBS soaps (ABC/NBC soaps were like watching a foreign language film to her). The Bauers, Norris', Reardons, Spauldings were my favorite core families. I also loved the Lewis and Shayne families, however, it's unfortunate that their emergence came at the expense of the Bauers and Reardons. Doug Marland was my absolute FAVORITE G/L head writer. The man was an absolute genius. G/L was at it's best under his regime. I miss this show so much!!!! I miss Springfield!!!
@@erikparker6501 I was raised on soaps through the 80s and got hooked on GL around 90 or 91, but abruptly quit after the death of Nadine and rape of Lucy. It seemed the show became mean spirited and lost its way. I would visit now and again, but it just didn't fell the same as the early 90s. Daytime lost its way when it left the focus of relationships and family with a little suspense and adventure to be the modern crime and just plain mean spirited shows. I believe they alienated their core audience and failed to capture a demographic that would be loyal.
This is great, I was raised on Guiding Light and As the World Turns and still miss the stories. My mom would talk about the stories after they had been cancelled and she was in her dementia.
Guiding Light was such an integral part of my life...My Mom and I always enjoyed our favorite soap!!! Hands down, Riva and Josh had the best and deepest love
Loved Guiding Light, I miss this show immensely. Nice to see the cast, it brings back a lot of memories for me as a child, it was my mom and grandmother's favorite show in the late 70s and early 80s.
I still miss Guiding Light so very much. I started watching in 1978 and stayed with it till it ended in 2009. This is so great to see these stars all these years later. I went on the cruise with many of the stars in 2010. I love Kim Zimmer, she is simply an amazing actress. Guiding Light and As The World Turns should still be on T.V. today. They were the best soaps ever!!
This was such a treat!!!! Five of my favorite characters and definitely amazing actors!! They all look amazing. Holly is by far one of my favorite daytime female characters of all time and Maureen Garrett played her with such a nuance of force, strength and vulnerability. Jerry VerDorn was somewhat of the unsung hero of G/L through various eras and regimes. He transformed Ross Marler from an unscrupulous slimy attorney into a core cornerstone member of Springfield. Liz Keifer….LOVE HER!!! Re-casts are never easy and often times are horrific. Liz had to take on the daunting task of replacing the very popular and talented Sherry Stringfield and she NAILED IT!!!! It took only about one-week into her tenure for me to be convinced that SHE WAS BLAKE. I loved both Sherry and Liz's interpretation of Blake!!! Kim and Robert....what can you say. Soap's all-time super couple!!! Luke and Laura who??? No, it's all about Reva and Josh.
Yes, I agree with all you said! These 5 are some of my absolute favorites, and I was so excited to see them. They’re so familiar to me. I really wish GL could come back in some capacity.
Jerry ver dorn Ross marlar was a cornerstone for everyone he held their innocence he kept them in line as for a lawyer friend and love interest always on good terms
THANK YOU!!! for doing these mini reunions. I started watching GUIDING LIGHT the Summer of '81 and I continued watching until the end. This has been amazing to see the residents of Springfield.
Thank you so much to everyone involved for putting this together!!! This was much needed and I dearly loved seeing and getting to visit some of my “GL Family” again!!❤️ It’s been nearly 11 years since the show went off the air and to this day I am still going through Guiding Light withdrawal!😢. Started watching in 1980 through the very end. I miss it sooo much and am looking forward to maybe another “reunion” soon!!!😀. Love to all❤️!!!
@Colleen Elliott, me too! I started watching GL regularly the year after I got hooked on my ABSOLUTE favorite show, One Life to Live (which I also miss).
This made me emotional. Used to watch with my Grandma and Mom - they're both gone now and this feels like a little family reunion - what a wonderful gift, thank you!
Reva & Josh (Bud)!!! I've missed Springfield so much! Thanks for posting, I have such wonderful memories of watching the show with my beloved mother who passed away in 2018.
This was so enjoyable; it put a big smile on my face! My childhood friend from down the street introduced me to GL in the early 80s. Then my college roommate got me hooked on it again. Lots of fun memories of watching the show in the 80s and 90s especially. I remember my mother and I were watching one day in 1997, and it was a scene with Roger. When Michael said his lines, my Mom and I both looked at each other at the same time and said, “what’s wrong with his voice?” It was subtle, but noticeable. Not long after that Michael was forced off the show. So sad what happened to him. Clearly all the actors loved him, and he and Maureen were close friends. Speaking of Maureen, she was so great and so underrated, I thought. Fantastic actress. I’m so glad she participated in this. I loved watching Jerry on both GL and OLTL. And what can I say about Kim and Robert except to say that Josh and Reva might be my favorite soap couple of all time! Thank you, Alan, for bringing all these little GL reunions via Zoom. They are the perfect pick me up during this quarantine. I miss the soaps as they once were. The focus on budget and speed these days has taken its toll on the medium. What a shame no one is willing to resurrect this type of storytelling and bring back the poignancy and quality it once had.
Betty truly did know her stuff if she cast all of these lovely people! Amazing, and I’m thankful to her. The actors and actresses on GL were the best truly.
Kim Zimmer recommending Ozark...OMG! I Thank her tremendously! I SO LOVE that show! If it wasn't for her recommendation, I may not have even given it a second thought & now it's one of my top FAVORITES!!!❤
I’ve watched several of these, and this is my absolute favorite! I loved all of their characters on the show for so many years, and in this they all seem happy, positive, engaging, and funny. On other videos, some of them seemed bored, and they had a lot of awkward moments. This one had none of that, and I smiled the entire time! 🥰
Thank you so much for this! What a joy to see these actors. I true to watched guiding light. Watching old clips of fabulous scenes online has been a lifesaver during this time for me. My husband is in arts PR I kind of thought you must’ve worked in the PR department to pull this off but thanks to everybody who made it possible. Give us more to see.
I am 68 and I love Kim. Hello Kim! I loved Josh and Reva. Always a Josh and Reva fan. Reva could do no wrong in my eyes. I hated that it ended. I never missed an episode. Saved the last show. Still watch it at least once a month. It ended Beautifully!❤❤👏👏👏 In my mind they are still happy and together to this day! My favorite Soap Opera of all time. Always a fan. Say hi. Please Kim. My Reva!!!!
I'd love to write them a script. They're the figures in my head that helped shape my imagination. Kim Z is my favorite character actress and Robert N is the "wizard" in my writer's head.
Alan, you're definitely the king of the soap opera world. Charita Bauer, and then Ellen Parker were truly the greatest matriarchs of Guiding Light, Reva being plunged into the water was really devastating, the wedding with Philip and Elizabeth was truly magical and touching, Molly from ATWT looked absolutely gorgeous in her wedding gown from the January 1998 episode of ATWT, and the final ever episode of Another World from June 25th, 1999 was heartbreaking, especially with the final scene.
I started watching guiding light when I was a pre teen because my mother watched it. That was 35 years ago. I absolutely loved guiding light and as the world turns. Everyone clicked on screen and you all were amazing. I cried so hard when the last show aired. I miss the show so much!!! I wish it was still on 🙁
So awesome to see you all again. I was a stay at home Mom since 1959 and watched daily. (My mom had listened on radio b4 that!) You were all like family. Best of wishes to you all.
I totally went through withdraw when they shut them off in 9-2009. I had been a fan as a tiny pre-schooler at my big sister's knees. They were family. I still miss them and As the World turns. The Covid outbreak of last year took me off of Soaps forever. The B&B and Y&R were on shut down and I started painting. I also left mainstream cable and bought my 1 st. Roku. I don't miss them like I do Guiding Light and As The World Turns. Those were two greats and to have a season of them again would be wonderful. Hello to them all and to all of you who are fans.
I got hooked on Guiding Light back in 1981, when I would come home from school and my sister would be watching it. I tell you, it is addicting. All the crazy story lines, the drama, the action, the hook ups, the break-ups, the lies, the deaths, the resurrection, the love stories etc. Oh how I miss my GUIDING LIGHT. I was a true fan for 28 years. Watching those old footage on TH-cam made my day. It brought back so many memories, I enjoyed it very much. My Guiding Light favorite Character was Reva Shayne Lewis, played by the fabulous Kim Zimmer. Also, Nola Reardon was a hoot. Love stories like Kelly&Morgan and Beth&Phillip was enticing. Also Jonathan Randal, Reva's youngest son played by Tom Pelphrey- boy he did such a great convincing job portraying that character.
i sure miss them all, Kim Zimmer and Maeve who played Vanessa was who i liked seeing after Lenore Kasdorf and Maureen left the show, then Maureen came back as Holly along with Michael Zaslow as Roger, i cried tears from Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman's Josh and Riva's performance when Annie kidnapped Riva taking her on a plane to be dropped from the deep blue skies in the Florida Keys Annie jumped out with parachute and order the pilot out by way of gun and minutes later down went the plane. i surely thought that was the end for Riva. Josh of course was frantic going to the florida keys where Annie mislead him to find no Riva and nothing but heartache.
I started watching in 6th grade w my parents in the early 80s. I miss this show so much! I love all of them and seeing them makes me so happy. I will NEVER get over it being cancelled, ever! I feel like my golden years of watching my fave soap have been robbed from me. I have read Kim Zimmers book twice and I will pry read it again b/c it fills a void that I miss dearly! So many wonderful actors on this show! I am so proud when I still see any of them in shows and I whoop n holler for them. I wish someone could bring it back, in any format! Agree with Kim on Tom Pelphrey on Ozark. He was amazing and I was SO PROUD! And Matt Bomer??! Why I remember when he went crazy on GL ! LOL! SO PROUD!
Thanks for doing this, nice to see you all. Tom was amazing in Ozark! Whatever award is out there for a Netflix show, he deserves it! Maureen, googling lasagna gardening now....
Yes, thank you for including Tom's performance. I knew when he played Jonathan he was destined for greatness......so happy he is getting recognition. This live was great.
I remember my mom watched Guiding Light on AFN when we were in Germany. The lighthouse in the intro made me think of the old Tybee lighthouse in Savannah. I also loved the hold onto love intro and closing theme. Abby was my favorite character and I mailed Amy Ecklund a letter explaining how we have some things in common with our disabilities; she was deaf and got a cochlear implant and I was blind and wore contacts growing up until fifth grade when I got special glasses that could help me see and I do not have to wear contacts anymore hopefully I will get to see her in Texas
@@adwilliams9502 Same. Still devastated! I was supposed to be a little old lady growing old watching this wonderful soap!! I have lots of years to go, but that was my plan!
Thank you all so much! what a treat. My next 5 would be: Sofia Landon, the wonderful Diane Ballard..... Maeve Kinkaid, Vanessa.....Mart Hulswit, Ed Bauer or Peter Simon......Jordan Clarke, Billy Lewis...….Tina Sloane, Lillian Raines she was on the show for so many years.
I miss both the shows soooooo much. So good to see everyone❤️❤️❤️ Still pissed at CBS for cancellation. I watched for 30+ years. I wish they had reruns❤️
I'm spamming with comments haha. Everybody looks amazing! I miss these people on my tv. Maureen hasn't aged at all! Really, none of them have 😊 Editing: when Kim says "I was waiting little bill" 😂😂😂 Love watching these
I can't believe I am just seeing these after so much years, these interviews would have been so great to see during the pandemic. I loved all these people on GL so much. I adore that they all loved Michael Zaslow, he was such a great actor. I remember Roger and Amanda Spaulding played by Toby Poser I loved them so much, they were so funny. Toby Poser was the first soap star that I wrote and she sent me back a signed headshot post card, I had it for years but cannot located it anymore. Anyways thanks for these wonderful interviews, am revisiting them all.
Thank you very much for organizing this. It was great to see all of these great actors that we have missed for so long. A bright spot in a stressful day of going to the supermarket and a scary time in our country
This is by far my favorite soap and I watched all of the characters 20 plus years. It would be amazing to catch up with Lisa Brown, Michael Tylo, Jordan Clarke, and Maeve Kincaid (Vanessa and Henry were my favorite across all soaps). And Peter Simon and Maureen again for razzle dazzle. 😍
I remember being out to brunch in Holyoke, Ma, early 1980s, walking past Robert Newman and a young blonde woman who played a nurse on Guiding Light. I believe there was a Soap Opera convention in Springfield, Ma that weekend. I had a crazy moment of don't-I-know-you before realizing that I had just seen Josh Lewis! And, yes, he is gorgeous! I loved Guiding Light, thanks to all of you for such great entertainment!
Omg you guys! I grew up watching you all! It’s so good to see you all! You look so good! I remember sitting by my grams and thinking, “I wonder if I will find a love like RS&JM.” Thank you all so much for making my childhood memorable. I hope you all stay healthy and I hope to see all of you more soon! Cheers to a healthy living and spreading the love!

Can't wait to see the rest...! xoF
Re-posting from another GL vid: (This especially goes to Kim Zimmer, who was kind of like my mom :) On a personal note about this show... I've always wanted to tell the actors how much it meant to me. It was mainly my mom and I when I was growing up and we were poor and there were a lot of very hard times mentally and emotionally, but Guiding Light was the one constant that was always with us. It, along with ATWT were my mom's faves and she passed away at age 51 in 2005 from cancer. When Guiding Light (my favorite) ended I felt like yet another piece of her was gone away. My favorite characters were like extended family for me from when I was that little latchkey kid to adulthood. I had wanted to watch the show consecutively from the 80's in the last few years and finally began finding a few sources that had uploaded episodes here on youtube. What a source of comfort and nostalgia, knowing my mom had watched these same ones, and seeing storylines I remembered as a kid! So I want to thank the cast for unknowingly always being there for her and me, then and now, through the wonder of the internet
Oh my God I used to rush home from school everyday and my mom would keep me up on the first 15 minutes that I missed love you guys you made coming home from school great
This show was a real pleasure to watch. I felt as though I was really present with some of my favorite actors on one of my very favorite soaps for many years! Thanks Mr. Locher for coming up with this idea for GL and for ATWT! I miss them both!
Just watching this today, but it was something that I had been thinking about for several weeks - somehow reuniting stars of our favorite daytime dramas. My idea is a little different and I'm still developing it but what a beautiful tribute. So great seeing these wonderful actors again. Thank you for sharing it. Made my day, even though I'm replaying it on TH-cam. Very nice to see indeed.

Holly and roger were magical
Agreed!
They are all so special to me love them all. They are gems and thank you Ms. Zimmer your daughter is amazing and praying for all.
Absolutely LOVE Maureen Garrett. And I'm currently watching Kim Zimmer on RetroTV's "The Doctors." And, slightly off-topic, Alan is haaaaawt!
i sure miss them all, Kim Zimmer and Maeve who played Vanessa was who i liked seeing after Lenore Kasdorf and Maureen left the show, then Maureen came back as Holly along with Michael Zaslow as Roger, i cried tears from Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman's Josh and Riva's performance when Annie kidnapped Riva taking her on a plane to be dropped from the deep blue skies in the Florida Keys Annie jumped out with parachute and order the pilot out by way of gun and minutes later down went the plane. i surely thought that was the end for Riva. Josh of course was frantic going to the florida keys where Annie mislead him to find no Riva and nothing but heartache.
I always love you Kim Zimmer!! You are so Gorgous. 💗💗
The way I love and appreciate these actors ❤❤❤
That was awesome, love hearing stories behind the scenes, so nice to see our guiding light family again 😁
LOL! SO PROUD!
This is so Great!!! Thank you so much for doing this! It's just what we need right now, and always! Favorite show ever!
Kim Zimmer with Robert Newman will always be my favorite.i miss my Josh and reva

Great tribute. I miss my Springfield family. Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman are my favorite 4 ever and always ❤️ I miss my reva and josh every day
Thank you, Amy! Be well.
Tom was amazing in Ozark. He was completely robbed bc he should have won an Emmy for his performance. I am hoping for a loop hole where he is alive!
OMG, I loved this! Being in quarantine has had me down, but this picked me right up! I miss these guys and GL!
Thanks for sharing, William. Be well!
I miss Guiding light so much .... can you guys do a Netflix guiding light ?
Wouldn't that be great!
I would definitely watch! I only watched 2 soap operas in my life and this was my absolute favorite. I cried when it went off the air. 🥺
@@adwilliams9502 Same. Still devastated! I was supposed to be a little old lady growing old watching this wonderful soap!! I have lots of years to go, but that was my plan!
I absolutely loved this! So many memories from when I started watching GL in high school in the 80s.
Glad to hear it, Marcus! Thank you.
I hope Alan can do it again soon, Liz, Jerry, Maureen and Kim and Robert ... the greatest number of views !!
Guiding light was one of the very best shows on tv. Loved them all.
This was so good. I really want to know who Pamela Long's alternate choice for "Reva" was...the role was made for Kim Z!
Guiding light made the right choice back than casting reva kim Zimmer she is the best
I miss both the shows soooooo
much. So good to see everyone❤️❤️❤️ Still pissed at CBS for cancellation. I watched for 30+ years. I wish they had reruns❤️
I am still so mad at the executives at CBS. I read Kim's book. I also greatly dislike the Exec Producer, whose name I will not mention. !!!!
I'm spamming with comments haha. Everybody looks amazing! I miss these people on my tv. Maureen hasn't aged at all! Really, none of them have 😊
Editing: when Kim says "I was waiting little bill" 😂😂😂 Love watching these
I can't believe I am just seeing these after so much years, these interviews would have been so great to see during the pandemic.
So happy to read your note, Patricia. Thank you for watching them and for taking the time to write me.
Thank you very much for organizing this. It was great to see all of these great actors that we have missed for so long. A bright spot in a stressful day of going to the supermarket and a scary time in our country
Wonderful walk down memory lane. I began watching GL with my grandmother in the 1950s.
Tre Westbrook I am worried about Jordan Clarke. According to Michael, his health has been very poor the past few years.
iamcasihart. Oh no.
OMG I just remembered EDMUND!!! LOL!!!! Henry ... ah Henry!!!!! How beloved!!!
Thank for this Michael I am reallly enjoying this it's great seeing these beloved people my second family from tv

Glad to hear that, Tracey! Thank you. I hope you've enjoyed some of the Guiding Light interviews I've done.
What a delightful conversation- thank you all for building community.

Re-posting from another GL vid:
(This especially goes to Kim Zimmer, who was kind of like my mom :)
On a personal note about this show...
Thank you for sharing your story. I am so sorry about your mom. I hope she's watching the classics in heaven.
Omg, I was raised on this soap & seeing "Ross & Blakey", again, is fabulous, & "Holly" too, of course! The Marlers & the Thorpe's were my favs! 🤗😍😘
Brilliant!!!! Bring it back!!!💕
Oh my God I used to rush home from school everyday and my mom would keep me up on the first 15 minutes that I missed love you guys you made coming home from school great
I miss guiding light and the edge of night so much so many terrific stories and characters it's hard to choose a favorite
This show was a real pleasure to watch. I felt as though I was really present with some of my favorite actors on one of my very favorite soaps for many years! Thanks Mr. Locher for coming up with this idea for GL and for ATWT! I miss them both!
You are so welcome, Mary Ann!
Hearing Kim Zimmer laugh makes my heart happy! 😃
AWESOME! Thank you so much for this. I miss Guiding Light so much. It was great seeing my favorites for just a while. I can't wait until the next!
