It's amazing how Spanish jokes worked for a very British audience like this. That connection... that synergy is actually the real magic. Glad we have amazing magicians like him in our country.
I'm spanish and Juan Tamariz is a living legend. Apart from his skills, he is always capable of getting that kind of conextion with the audience. He is already an old man, but his shows in eighties and nineties were pure MAGIC...
Awesome spectacle. PS: Ladies seemed blushed because of being kissed in their cheek. Tamariz was joking all the time, but in Spain it's used as a the common greeting gesture to ladies just the same as shaking hands to men. People are commonly warmer and less reserved than abroad.
This is why Juan is the GOAT. No gimmicks. Just pure, out of this world skill. I think Dani Daortiz is approaching, and has maybe surpassed his teacher. But Juan Tamariz is as influential as Dai Vernon in the history of closeup magic IMO for good reason. MASTER
A lot of "traditional" magicians didnt like Tamariz cause they said he lacked "class" and "elegance".... Today he's still relevant and his books are a constant best sellers and those "traditional" magicians got left behind and forgotten with the changing times.
To be fair I don't really like his style. He's by far the most skilled guy I've ever seen with cards and his magic tricks are insane. And I'll take his style of the regular cheesy style of most magicians. I know it's subjective but for me Penn and Teller have the style I like the most. Not just comedy, not just cards. A little bit of everything. No cheesy routine.
This guy is so hyper and annoying that I can't appreciate the magic. I'm not saying you can't be a showman, but this is waaaaay over-the-top. As for the magic, it appears what he managed to pull of was utterly amazing, but his personality killed my sense of wonder.
He (and his students) include you. Also creates a great chaos for misdirection and forcing cards. If you watch Dani DeOrtiz, he makes some crazy forcing.

Now THAT was a Masterclass in pure entertainment. Yet some magicians still hold a belief that you cannot go out and work with just cards.

Chessy or comedy is not the same
It don’t work for everyone but it works for him. Kinda like Dani DaOrtiz style works for him but would be annoying if done by anyone else.
