  • Cape cobra (Naja nivea) is one of the most venomous cobra species. It has many color morphs, but one of the most bright is the yellow cobra from the Kalahari desert. This snake lives in open habitat and often meets other animals, such as meerkats. Watch until the end to see the encounter of the cobra and meerkat group.
    Yellow Cape cobra will appear in the film The Most Venomous Snakes of Africa: • Video

    Such a beautiful snake. Here in India our common encounter is with kraits and Indian cobras mostly. Once we had Cape Cobra hidden in haystack. Very rarely they are found here and it was darker than this. Very aggressive and highly venomous.

      It is extremely beautiful! Yes, in India you have many Spectacled cobras and kraits, also Russell's vipers. But you don't have Cape cobras there. Check this film from India: th-cam.com/video/qgcU0CluSpY/w-d-xo.html

    • @LivingZoology
      @LivingZoology  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you!!! It is probably an adaptation to the heat (having as light color as possible) as these snakes are diurnal and you can see them out during amazingly hot weather. Also, it should be an adaptation to the habitat but as you say, more orange color would be better. Evolution is not perfect.

    Beautiful film depicting the Kalahari Desert with the tropical storms and wildlife amazingly. Yellow morph of the cape cobra is absolutely stunningly beautiful. Unbelievable how people can intentionally run them over on the road when the snake is just minding its own business. Its the same the world over though but hopefully thanks to your educational videos people might have a different view than they held previously.

    It's a well known fact meerkats are cowards. A mongoose would never pass up such a good cobra meal...😂

    • @LivingZoology
      @LivingZoology  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It looked like meerkats just did not want to let the cobra go inside their burrow, they did not want to kill it.

    BRILLIANT videography brings nature realistic. Good work. Nature should live long without human disturbance.

    Lovely footage, perfect reproduction of colors with the bliss of original background score! Such a long & beautiful snake, must be about 7-8ft.
    Refreshing to see "natural" LZ videos as always.

    Skvělé, vidím, že šla produkce hodně nahoru! Opravdu podařené záběry, bouřka je přímo dechberoucí. Zvuky přírody a titulky jsou hodně příjemná kombinace.

    • @LivingZoology
      @LivingZoology  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Moc děkujeme!!! :) To jsme rádi, že se tato kombinace zdá divákům příjemná, nejste jediný! Museli jsme vymyslet nějaký formát, ve kterém bychom využili natočený materiál (jsou ho hodiny), protože do velkých filmů s komentářem se vejde jenom málo. Komentátora a hudbu na každé video zase platit nemůžeme, takže takto to vychází hezky :)
