Yes, country radio sucks. But, it's worth fighting the good fight and try to change it. Even with increasingly less people listening to the radio, it represents "country" music to the rest of the nation, especially including CMT, Spotify playlists, Pandora, etc., and this whole corporate machine's influence with important institutions like the CMA and the ACM, both with a long and noble history in the genre. The last thing I want to ever see is Sam Hunt being made an Opry member or Thomas Rhett inducted into the Hall of Fame.
rockpaperscissors82 Radio didn't help this song that much, because even if it was a top 10 it only has less than 1 Million views on youtube. I think country radio is irrilevant at this point. And you can see that with a lot of songs that didn't perform well on the radio but still got a ton if streams like Last Time for Everything by Brad Paisley, The one You're Waitin on by Alan Jackson or Vinyl by William Michael Morgan. Of those three, I think only Paisley's charted at all.
The video doesn't have many views because it was released almost a year after the song debuted and toward the end of its chart run. That's very odd to release an official video so late. Anyway, you're right to see that radio is losing influence. It's far from "irrelevant," but it is nowhere near the monopolistic powerhouse it once was. People have the freedom to choose now, thanks to the internet. Cody Jinks, Turnpike Troubadours, and Whitey Morgan can sell-out shows across the country without any help from radio. Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, and Jason Isbell can win Grammy awards and without having any hits on the radio. This was all unthinkable ten or twenty years ago. The CMA (Country Music Association) was very smart to award Stapleton three big awards in 2015, after which he has become the top selling country artist for three years in a row. The CMA knows that radio is entering its twilight years, and people can find real talent and real country now. While so-called "country" radio is doing its best to destroy the heart and soul of the genre, the people are rising up to save it.
Brett Daniels this song has sold poorly for being on radio for over a year. No one knows who Aaron Watson is and i didnt either before i heard this song. As to why it didnt sell well, its a good song and people do not like good music, they like garbage like Brett Young and Thomas Rhett. Aaron did something that is extremely rare - got a single to near top of the charts with an indie record label, that within itself is incredible. I believe the last time that happened was in 2007 when Tracy Lawrence got Find Out Who Your Friends Are to #1 with NO label at all. Cody Johnson is the only country artist in many many years to continually chart singles with an indie label even though his songs never get out of the 50's on the billboard chart.

I also love to hear it on the local radio station because he says the number of our local radio station. In fact, I had never heard the song before until several months ago when I did hear it locally. It's funny to me to hear it the way it was originally recorded.
