I think gyarados will be short lived. That being said, the expansion has exceeded my expectations for evolving the meta. Was expecting a bunch of shiny things that just fell flat at the feet of pikachu and mewtwo.
Thanks for actually making the video. Very enjoyable. In terms of the deck, I think the reason why its doing well is that it occupies a perfect spot in the metagame, being able to easy kill celebi and pika decks, while also playing well into the mewtwo deck. When the metagame eventually evolves tho, im not sure we'll see this card being a mainstay - imo, it isn't that strong in itself.
Try this deck i made its unique and powerful. Its water fire. DECK LIST: 2x Druddigon 2x Sizzlipede 2x Centiskorch 2x Magikarp 2x Gyarados EX 1x Articuno EX 1x Moltres EX 2x Pokeball 2x Professors Research 2x Misty 2x Leaf
the reason Gyarados is being so good IMO is very simple. it survives the one most consistant 1 shot move from the highest tier of play (AKA Mewtwo 150 dmg) and can deal nearly as much dmg in return (killing the likes of Pikachu and Celebi in one shot) pair it with Druddigon and or Greninja for that little chip DMG you need to knock off Mewtwo and you have a really good bulky and offensive pokemon that is really easy to get out (stage 1 evo).
Every time I see this deck, I think it should run fire to use Dread as an alt win con - but then I wonder how often the dual energy would screw over an assured win vs provide a viable route… And with Misty, Energy requirements, the random energy generation, the return of investment (3 for 90/4 for 140) makes me pretty sure I would be touching on needing Calc for the answer and… I’m too lazy to do calc unless I’m being paid to do it. 😅 So pure water it is, I guess! ☺️
Gyarados was really shit on when it was revealed lol, and I'm not gonna lie I felt it might be slightly underpowered (not in damage) as well due to its energy discard having a possibility to hit itself. However, having played the deck over the course of this weekend after I saw that it was doing well, I was pleasantly surprised. Of course it bricks like most other decks and if you run into a Pikachu EX using Blitzle or that Golem deck which runs Hitmonlee they just snipe your Magikarp off the bench and you die lol. But yeah, being a huge fan of Gyarados as a Pokémon, I'm glad it's doing well! Edit: I think Blastoise isn't too bad right now either. I played Blastoise with Druddigon in the 45 win Event and went 14/11 over 25 games with it. Decklist - 2x of Squirtle, Wartortle, Blastoise EX, and Druddigon. 2x of Oak, Pokéball, Potion, Misty, and Leaf with 1x of Giovanni (for something like Pidgeot EX or the 50/70 HP breakpoints on basics and stage 1s) and 1x Sabrina.
Making it better tonight. I dropped 1 basic Fineon keeping 2 Lumineon, chatot in, dropped 2 Sabrina for 2 fossils as well (you discard these so they don’t keep cycling cards you don’t want to get it. Really makes Blastoise Faster
Oh I don’t run a potion This is the Blastoise line 1 pokeball, 1 leaf, 2 misty, 2 Oak, 2 Pokeball (thinking about going for 1 and replace with another fossil might be faster) Godspeed The Lumineon should take care of pidgy basic btw (and Giovani doesn’t help attacking benches, only active)
@@Awlansee giovanni and drud lapras and you can run Sabrina’s and Giovannis now without the 6 Pokémon’s (greninja line). Trust me… so much better. Try it urself
I believe that one adaptation garydos players can make to the deck is running blue. They have to be disciplined at benching there magikarp to when they have the garydos in hand with blue to survive one snipe before evolving.
I think if they don’t run a greninja line they are required to include giovanis to keep the mewtwo matchup good for sure. I think the greninja is currently the best of the matchups I play.

Thx for great work with your content on two of my favourite games ❤
Count me as one of the people who thought Druddigon would be amazing but still somehow underestimated how impactful it would be on the metagame

New KM video - 😦
It's a meta based conversation - 😲
IT'S OVER 45 MINUTES LONG! - 🤯
New vaporian is so fun with it
12:12 opponents' red card the best card in your deck

Does blue stop hit from doing 30?
Could go carp blue then evolve next turn
actually yes
GyaraDOGE is crazy

I run lumieon instead of drud to knock out magi carp and other pals.

Oh and wait to use oak until you got your basic / and 1/2 stage 1 Pokémon.
Gyarados without greninja is much better
yeah thats what i get to about 9 minutes or so in
How are you damaging the mewtwos and charizards with 140 damage
@@Awlansee giovanni and drud lapras and you can run Sabrina’s and Giovannis now without the 6 Pokémon’s (greninja line). Trust me… so much better. Try it urself
It’s a 90% winrate against those 2 decks lol.

Gyarados without greninja is way less effective against mewtwo... Just don't hit the wall and wait to ramp

Am I the only one hearing "Radagon" instead of Druddigon?
did you say "marika"?
@KMPocket not this rabbithole agaiiiin
The Secret is Misty and pure luck
Gyarados is one of the worst EX Pokemon we have
Too dependant on the start of the match. If you have magicarp as only active with no bench you're screwed
Also Misty flips
