Thank you for the fly combo suggestions! I picked up the Martin one. I’ve been practicing casting but I’m not that great... Hopefully I can be as good as you lol

That’s awesome Andy! You’ll be a pro in no time, just takes practice so keep it up. Soon you’ll be posting videos showing all the fish you catch on the fly!

@@highholescramblers I hope so! I kind of know how to cast, I’ll have a whole trail of line behind me but then when I cast it out there it all bunches up

Do you have actual fly line out past your guides? As I am having casting just with just the butt section of my euro nymph setup out past and in my guides. Wonder if it is easier if I have actual fly line out past the guides?

Hey Lyndon - that’s an interesting question and having fly line out could help but I’ve never tried it. I typically use 20+ foot leaders and only have the leader past the guides. In fact, I’ve seen a lot of guys start going to super long 30-40 foot thin leaders so they will definitely never have any fly line out.
Frankly I think that’s a bit much and usually only have 15-18 feet of line out past my guides. If you are having trouble I would suggest increasing the weight of your flies and trying a lighter leader setup. I run 10lb chameleon down to 8lb amnesia sighter and then add a tipper ring and drop 5/6X to my flies. With one big tungsten fly on the point and a lighter fly on the dropper I usually don’t have any issues getting out 20 feet or so.

I have the same rod... love it

Nice! Do you have the 10ft 3wt version? It’s such a versatile rod. I’ll even over line it with a 5wt reel and floating line and use it for dry flies.

@@highholescramblers I do ... recon 10 ft 3 wt ... interesting set up with the 5wt reel... I have to try that!!

Great video---question-----are you actually feeling the trout take the nymph, or do you watch the indicator line to know when the trout hits the fly?---thanks for sharing

Great question, Bill. Primarily watching the sighter line. The last 18 inches of my euro leader I tied up 3 six inch sections using triple surgeons knots and I left little tags so I effectively have 3 little tag sighters at the bottom of the leader.
That said, in larger rivers with a bit more current helping to hold your line tight, you can often feel a take however even then, you’ll typically see it first and in my opinion have a better chance at a good hook set if you do.

Hey Shannon. We are using a GoPro 10 and a GoPro 9. Sometimes a DJI drone like in the video we are releasing next. What do you guys use? Maybe it’s a setting with the camera or when you upload. Happy to help.
