Oooh, what a great idea! Sometimes my cuttings just grow so curly, getting them into the water without drowning the whole thing is nigh impossible. Plus if you want to put several cuttings into one glass (since at least philodendra nurture growth among each other), this'll definitely help! When you put a bit of string (or clips or whatever doesn't damage the stem) around longer stems to keep them higher up on the wrap, you can even mix short and long stems in one container. Thank you for this!
Hi Sachi!
@@Drachenrose97 Hi Tonks 😂
why have i never thought of using cling wrap! aqesome idea!
Smaller containers have worked most successfully for me-I like salt and pepper shakers from dollar tree-plus some of my plants seem to do much better in damp soil
Or find a small container, I use shot glasses
Que gran idea. En mi país Panamá hay que tener cuidado con plantas en agua por lo del mosquito andes aegyptis y el papel film lo resuelve. Gracias x esta idea❤
PanamA!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This really works! I rooted a bunch of ZZ/ZZ Raven leaves this way. Man it took months but they've got full on rhizomes now.
I used parchment paper cut to fit a mason jar, then put the ring on to gold in place.
OT video request!
Can you please do your "I bought two identical plants and tortured one" series where you water one normally and the other normally with a bit of rooting hormone at each watering? I don't have any duplicate plants to know if this does anything but I've watered a few times like this (not enough to know if it's actually doing anything) to try and encourage more leaves or corms etc to get the hint.
Yes I want a "plants on steroids" episode please and thank you 🤣
I’ll have a think 😁
@@SheffieldMadePlants aye Richard, this is one reason I love you (don't worry Mrs, not that way) you're always a good sport!
Wow thank you for this, was just in the middle of propagating lol
Works so well for a mix of cuttings in a window sill with a plantation shutter that likes to grab them on the way up each morning!
Good idea I never thought about it ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Всё гениальное просто
Mine opinion: never root plants in water. All plants what can root in water, can root in soil too.
You have a better chance in water for them to root. It's easy and 99% of the time works.
@@Amilli182 I tried both methods. the soil is better for me.
in my opinion, water-demanding plants are generally more likely to take root in water, and drought-tolerant plants are more likely to take root in soil.
drought-loving plants will only rot in water, and water-loving plants will quickly wither in the ground if we do not maintain high humidity.
Depends on the plant
I’ve read clear containers make slower root growth. Have you found this to be true?
Glad wrap is a wonderful idea.Thank you😮😊
What do we do after doing this?
Great idea, help the plant and oneself along. 👌🌱
That looks great even before the have roots😊
How does this prevent rotting when you can just use a smaller jar? It’s sitting in water either way. Perhaps the video title should be “Water Propagation Hacks” as this just shows a great idea for keeping multiple cuttings upright and preventing them from drowning into the water. Alternatively, speak using words because background music does not help.
🙄
@@SheffieldMadePlants 😥 honestly just trying to help my friend. I said it is a great idea! sawry 😖 🙏🏽
It does help, though, because the leaves don't the wster, and obviously, they don't fall in. So it can help tremendously for them to root in water without drowning or rotting in the process. I absolutely love propagating plants in water. And in my kitchen windowsill alone, I have lost count, but it's over 70 plants growing. Some for years. Idh any growing with this method, but I wish I would have seen this sooner cause I recently lost some very leggy bubblegum tradasendia's. This would have worked perfect!

@@valeriexoxo❤❤❤❤I appreciate your video
Good one
Good idea - wish you a great day
Thank you! Cheers!
This is very good! thank you!
Gracias
❤❤❤ thanks
Just wondering if the plastic chokes off the oxygen that’s needed for a balanced exchange between water and oxygen?? 🪴
Should the roots propagating in water be in direct sunlight or should I block the bottom of the jar to "darken" the water?
Keep it out of direct sunlight
Direct sunlight will cause algae
sunlight
Awesome idea
Omg I love this channel sm❤❤
Thank you 😊
Must have a node on it for this to grow roots. But more times than not, the green stem will rot out.
They have nodes
Ogni quanto tempo cambi l' acqua ❓ grazie 💚

I love good ideas😊.
It’s fine until you see a new leaf below the wrap.
This happened to me this month lmao.
Great idea
Great idea 🌿💚🌱
But do you use regular water or do you add something to it?
Keeps mosquitoes out. ❤
Jade , pothos , devils back bone . ❤
good idea
I received a Monstera cutting that I'm trying to root in water but it's really clear the new leaf is dead (it's black). Will the cutting continue to grow and sprout new leaves or is that it for it?
You might get a new stem. I’d keep it and see what happens
@@SheffieldMadePlants I'll continue to care for it! Thank you for your wonderful videos and the response!
Mr. Sheffield- how do you handle doing water changes conveniently when doing this method? I’ve always wanted to try this, but the plastic wrap seems like it could become troublesome *or* need replacement when changing water, and I do like to think myself as being fairly eco-friendly. Any tips to get around that while using this method? Much gratitude, always love your content!
It’s easy enough to peel it at one end to pour the water away
@@SheffieldMadePlants awesome, I was always worried it wouldn’t work smoothly and I might end up wasting more plastic wrap than it’s worth. Can’t wait to try this, thanks so much!
Geniale❤

Love that ❤❤
Clever
Yeah but when the water goes down...
Nice
What type of plant is this?
