We’re all teleported to a time before our current selves. In those halls we’re all drinking from the same glass as we go out to whatever fate has in store. Thank you for that memory returned.
The moon hangs high, the fire crackles and on this night the forest and fields stay silent, as if watching us. Most are sleeping in the tents, but I needed the fresh air. A few of my friends joined me, the Smith works on our blades, the Archer making his arrows. Our cleric is making sure her supplies are secure, and the mage is memorizing her spells. This feels like the old days, when we were just explorers... hard to imagine what we plan to face tomorrow. The stars are shining in the sky, with the moon.. are the gods blessing us? Our loved ones gazing down, offering us their hopes? I will thank them for it, and may those of us who fall tomorrow find rest... they deserve it.. and more.
**Health To The Company** Kind friends and companions, come join me in rhyme Come lift up your voices in chorus with mine Let's drink and be merry all grief to refrain For we may or might never all meet here again Here's a health to the company and one to my lass Let's drink and be merry all out of one glass Let's drink and be merry all grief to refrain For we may or might never all meet here again Our ship lies at harbour she's ready to dock I wish her safe landing without any shock And if we should meet again by land or by sea I will always remember your kindness to me So here's a health to the company and one to my lass Let's drink and be merry all out of one glass Let's drink and be merry all grief to refrain For we may or might never meet here again My footsteps may falter my wit it may fail My course may be challenged by November gale Ere fortune shall prove to be friend or be foe You will always be with me wherever I go So here's a health to the company and one to my lass Let us drink and be merry all out of one glass Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain For we may or might never meet here again So here's a health to the company and one to my lass Let us drink and be merry all out of one glass Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain For we may or might never meet here again
Ever go to a renaissance festival? This is the last song of the day at many faires, with people singing along and clinking glasses/mugs. It's beautiful.
to those who say this is from AC4 great choice and I congratulate you for noticing however this song is much older. You will find if you listen to many other musicians such as "The Chieftains' or "savageminstrel" or even bards from well before this wonderful game you will notice this tune to be among those whom wish to remember the past. Those such as I that love this tune are glad to see this folklore song continue and evolved.
Dejected Mango My father used to sing these old Irish and shanty songs, too. I miss him, as he passed two years ago. The only thing that could make this more haunting, would be a violin instead of ambient sounds in the beginning.
dejected mango just found this comment again and wanted to say thank you for mentioning savageminstrel. I grew up with kevin and have really missed him at Ren faire pub sing since he passed. your comment allowed me to reconnect with his video for health to the company and brought back good memories and a few tears.
Honestly I thought it was written for the game, because it has such a different vibe to the rest of the shanties and whatnot. Nope, appearently not. it's actually *period* to the era the game's set in. Talk about a Today I Learned kinda moment.
That is the popular song from Owain Phype, who died last year. We buried some of his ashes at Sherwood Forest Faire under a memorial oak tree. We remember our heroes and our leaders.
I'm one of the contestants on ABC's "The Quest" and this is one of the songs that we sung as a group. Leah's rendition completely took me back to those moments when we were bonding and not competing. THE best rendition that I have heard to date. Great job! and thanks for helping to make those memories for me even more vivid
Played this at my husband's funeral... I just loved how relaxing it was. Can't forget how sad my twins were on that day, I tried my best to comfort them. They were too young to face their father's death...
You have the voice of international stardom my lady exquisite incredibly versatile I know with a voice like that the spirits of Aeons would return to listen and raise a glass in your honour
This is the late Owain Phyfe's version. He always skipped the verse about the lass he loved so well, but added the final verse about November gales. This is a beautiful rendition.
A very lovely rendition LEAH!! Tho the song as been around for many a years, with your beautiful haunting voice you made it your own! I very much enjoyed listening too! God Bless on your successful journey!
There are so many versions of this awsome songs. Almost all of them amazing. But i have to admit, this take on it, is one of the very best of them. Well done. It's a true pleasure to listen and chillax to it. Love it.
the origins of the song are unknown, but it is thought to be about Irish people or Ulster Scots who had to migrate overseas in the economic changes that uprooted so many people 18th-19th century. It might have been written by the diaspora in Canada.
This is my favorite renditions of this song. I love the imagery you're using in the video. Though I have to ask - where did you find the image around 1:48? I would love to put that as my wallpaper.
Классное видео! мне понравилось, умничка!) Вообще уважаю труд тех кто делает видео, и ведет свои каналы. Я сама веду канал и знаю, как это непросто - записывать ролики. Не останавливайся, продолжай!
"Pop" acclimated version for the audiance, actually. I love it too but I prefere the original by the Chieftains, a real pub atmosphere. Look at the others tavern songs, some are great as a ballad, for example "Blow The Candles Out" by Karen Mal : www.deezer.com/album/846164
You make this song sound sound way to dark and creepy. Its supposed to be a happy song to relax and get drunk. I love your voice, but i dont think this is a good song for that.
You deserve waaaay more subscribers than this. Like, at least 10 million more.
The melody reminds me of my Buddhist grandma chanting prayers

**Health To The Company**
Kind friends and companions, come join me in rhyme
Come lift up your voices in chorus with mine
Let's drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let's drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let's drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Our ship lies at harbour she's ready to dock
I wish her safe landing without any shock
And if we should meet again by land or by sea
I will always remember your kindness to me
So here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let's drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let's drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never meet here again
My footsteps may falter my wit it may fail
My course may be challenged by November gale
Ere fortune shall prove to be friend or be foe
You will always be with me wherever I go
So here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let us drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never meet here again
So here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let us drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never meet here again
Lady Deadpool 💋:. Thank you for posting the words.
I have no Irish blood in my veins, but this song pulls at my spirit and my soul and tickles the edge of lost memories.
What good music does best.
Ever go to a renaissance festival? This is the last song of the day at many faires, with people singing along and clinking glasses/mugs. It's beautiful.

i think it's a shame that people think that these songs are beautiful at least they're getting remembered in modern times though

Your voice is very unique!! I reckon you could pull of a film soundtrack , your voice is beautiful.
That is the popular song from Owain Phype, who died last year. We buried some of his ashes at Sherwood Forest Faire under a memorial oak tree. We remember our heroes and our leaders.
i wish a long and peaceful rest for Owain.

very nice! i posted a version of my own that is based on robert lovie's more modernized setting.....on keyboard, you are welcome to check it out!
The song is obviously Scottish, composed in Scotland by Scots. It may be "well known" in Ireland but it isn't Irish.
AC4 version is better
fr but Noel McLoughlin is the best version
this isnt an irish song its scottish and english
What is this? This is supposed to be a drinking song. Not a dramatic love song
lol random girl
You make this song sound sound way to dark and creepy. Its supposed to be a happy song to relax and get drunk. I love your voice, but i dont think this is a good song for that.
not irish
