Just got the tent (it's my very first one) and attempted to set it up following the directions on the sack. I got horribly confused and worried I might damage it so went looking for a video to help. REI doesn't have a video! Shame on them. Your video was exactly what I needed to feel confident to set it up. In fact, REI should put a link to your video on their website. I'm really glad I tried it out first in my living room before using it this weekend on my first backpacking trip up in Maine.

I owned the REI Chrysalis and after trying to figure out how to set it up, I donated it to Goodwill. This one is a tad better to set up but orienting the poles was a PIA. No more REI tents for me. Try setting this tent up in the field near darkness or with an incoming storm as you try to orient the poles. I'm glad REI discontinued this tent with another cockamamie set up.

thanks for checking out my vids Nature smitten! as far as the manufacturer's footprint, no I haven't used it. most footprints are a little to heavy for me. I have always used Tyvek as my material of choice as its about the lightest and toughest material out there.

What stakes do you use for this tent? why? Thanks for the videos.

I use the aluminum V stakes as they are pretty sturdy and not to awfully heavy. the other reason is that you can use two of them together as a splint for a broken pole and then use a rock or whatever to replace till you get home for a more permanent repair
