Please do a follow up when it’s set up as a grid storage / solar home battery 👍 (ps: nicely shot!)
I watch that Ferrari electric conversion being done when they ran Electric Classic Cars on tv very interesting project.
Robert, you can now add 'Social Media Influencer' to your bulging CV.
I recall seeing this electric Ferrari before on the Tube, and the owner said it goes further on the battery than it did on the fuel in both tanks, when it was an i/c car!
Conversions are a fantastic way to keep classics going and many would benefit (because the worse think you can do to a car is not drive it) car lovers and the public to see wonderful design that is not like what we have grown accustomed to, cars that look like each other no matter what brand. So glad he is driving this car more and people are getting to see it on the road.
I love the idea of using the car as a mobile home battery unit. That is such a cool thing to do. An idea that should be possible with EV campervans which are also parked up for a lot of the year, and potentially caravans too if they can have range extending batteries added to them. That will get around the issue with towing hammering the range as well as distributed grid storage.
It's funny; when I started watching this episode, I thought I was looking at a split screen of Robert talking to himself. :-)
If I thought I could get decent range from converting my 1997 Saturn SW2 to electric (and had the money), I'd do so in a heartbeat. I got it brand new and now it's old enough to drink. I really like that car, but it's well past time to go electric. Now I just need to be able to afford it. :-|
I have been enjoyed, so thank you for delivering.
Really makes a difference to a usable classic
Thank you for episode after episode
I would love to drive this! 💪⚡❤
the *only* thing the original car does better is fill up quicker. this is faster, handles better, weighs (marginally) less, requires less maintenance etc. these are all demonstrably true, people might argue the Ferrari would sound better, that's subjective, the other stuff is objective measurement, the *only* thing the petrol car is better at is filling up speed, mind boggling.
What would Magnum PI think? Queue them tune...
Will this car be at Fully Charged Live 2021 ?
Yep!
Hi Robert, just a quick explanation of what & why the CCS charging system is good please? - thanks 👍🇬🇧
From the thumbnail I though there are two Roberts now ;) .
The man has better cupboards on his garage wall than I've got in the kitchen. FML! 😁😁
This happens after several kitchen remodels.... As the kitchen is upgraded, the garage is upgraded, eventual the garage has pretty nice cabinets:)
I also have kitchen cabinets in the workshop and a few other basement rooms (from multiple kitchens). Who can say no to free cabinets? ;)
I have heard that even after conversion, authorities like Tfl refuse to recognise the change to a low emission vehicles. Bureaucracy is wonderful.
The conversion of a 1989 4 speed ford festiva from a 59 horsepower petrol car to a 150 horsepower electric with 40 kilowatt hour battery pack is only $6,500. I don't know the dollar to pounds conversion rate.
Nice to watch two old blokes talking about EV stuff! No offence meant btw, I'm an old bloke as well. 😉
Thank you!
I hope you sold the parts to Ratarossa
60k isn't cheap but it is a Ferrari... Maybe revisit to see how the home storage idea went?
About running the house..... not on a heatpump I would think.
Fully Charged Peeps, Has Peter Brazier made any progress on his Ferrari powered house? Can we get an update? At the very least, here in "Comments".
Bonusssssssssss
You can't help wondering when a small balding man buys a Ferrari what they may be compensating for..
Yeaahhhhhh
