This is very helpful. I have to have my tuning slide out almost 2 inches out to play a b-flat all the way in on my King 3B. I wish I had learned this in high school 40 years ago.
super helpful. and kind of obvious - once a pro explains it. I assumed the Bb was with the slide locked. It isn't. And should not be. And it makes space for the vibrato on 1st position - up and down.

Good info! I know Urbie Green kept his tuning slide in like that so he could use slide vibrato on the Bb there.
