Gil played a lot injured too later in his career which lowered his average. Pre injury Gil was a top 5 player.
If you isolated each players best 3 year stretch of their careers and compared them Gil destroys everybody

The league was stacked with talent. As great as Gil was individually he never had any major playoff success.

CP3 and Dwight didn't really come into super start status until 2008 and Paul Pierce himself said he started to want out of Boston so his play had been slipping.
