Watch out! Sometimes Greek can't decide how to spell its own vocabulary, especially the "ee" sounds. "Μπίρα" can also be "μπύρα." Also, common Greek often disregards the strict grammatical rules, i.e. "ο χυμός πορτοκαλιού" would be "the juice of the orange" in a proper sense, but "ο χυμός πορτοκάλι" --- "the juice orange" is just fine and meshes with "I want a glass water/bottle beer/cup tea."
Oh Jim... that is a bit scary but at the same time it makes it less strict which means you can relax a bit , what do you think? Τι νομίζεις;
@@mygreekdiary Well, you have to know the rules so you can break them, but you will find that, as in any language, Greeks are not grammatically perfect in everyday conversation, like using πάω for πηγαίνω. It's frustrating that after you learn the dictionary form of the verb, in the most commonly used words the subjunctive form is irregular and the subjunctive ( I want TO go, etc.) is where all the action is. I really enjoy your vlog.
@@jimzeller3747 Yeah, I feel a bit frustrated with these type of use of the subjunctive form which I haven´t really started as much but I kind of "get" how to use it for the verb "pao" which you are totally right how they use it. Thank you so much for helping so much 🙂
Kalimera Σαρα! I like the format you are producing! I attend Greek lessons for beginners at night school, but at the moment I don't feel I am learning as fast as I would like. I am missing vocabulary, nouns, verbs and adjectives. So far we have concentrated on greetings and forms of address, but there is more to Greek than kalimera kalispera kalinichta ta leme and Pos se lene... Me lene Rob
Your Greek accent is really very good (as far as I can tell as a beginner). Thank you for your Greek Diary βηδεο! Best regards, Rob in Ελβετία.
Γεια σας Rob, I see what you mean and sometimes it is frustrating. My advise for you ,since you are eager to learn and to make an impact ,is to create your own Diary. In which you will write every single day while saying it out loud (It is important to listen to yourself). You can use my own videos for you to follow and repeat after me. My pronunciation is good because I am Spanish which helps me massively (It doesn't help me all the time … neither with my English 🤣) Also, I repeat many times for me and for those who are listening to help them.
Please, feel free to ask me any question which will help me as well.
Χαίρω πολύ Rob🙂
