Awesome series! I just found your videos last week and now I'm up to date. Unmatched is finally going to release in Spain so I'm just getting ready to try it!!
It’s worth pointing that Medusa has a potential 56 defense value (hybrid plus defensive cards) which is the highest in the game for published characters (tied with Jekyll &Hyde). That plus ranged, wall of uglies, movement of 3, discard abilities, and boosted during combat makes her top tier for sure.
Gaze of stone should be a great finisher if you can get opponent to run out of cards. Killing them on while on 10 is quite nice. Also, it seems like the strategy is to harass with harpies, and pin them down in your zone so you can ping them, and run them out of cards.
@@BakedGoods by the way, forgot if I have asked this, as I can't seem to find the thread. Are you by chance in the Unmatched FB group? If not, you should join it & share your video there!
Whose your favorite champ and why? I just got the cobble and fog expansion and I am super excited to play it. Will you ever do videos about how to play against these characters? Or potentially when explaining the heros some strategies on how to play against them?
My favorite champ is Bruce Lee, I love ‘chaining’ the Jeet Kune Do attacks together, and any cards that give you more actions are also really fun for me (which is also why I like the Raptors a lot) For sure, I’ll get to Cobble and Fog eventually, and I plan on making matchup/set analysis/meta videos (not sure what to call them yet) incrementally as I make more videos. I plan to release one of these for Battle of Legends Vol 1 next week so we’ll see how that turns out.
Slightly off topic: Are there any noticeable downsides to being a Ranged fighter? They never seem any weaker than Melee fighters. I always thought a good balance would be making Ranged fighters unable to attack while adjacent, similar to Fire Emblem Archers.
Off the top of my head I can't think of any common weaknesses for the ranged fighters currently in the game. I hope they start making ranged heroes exclusively move 2, as having range and move 3 gives some fighters (Medusa, Muldoon) huge advantages.
@@BakedGoods Yeah it's just weird to me. I first read the rules and thought "okay I'm guessing Ranged fighters have less value on some of their cards" but no I haven't found an inherent downside to being Ranged. And I don't even think my solution could work because I heard Huntsman has an attack for close combat.
The Huntsman is a tricky case, because his healing is really good, but he cannot consistently block more than 2 damage unless you use Stones In the Belly with the basket effect. So Long Have I Sought You is more of a retaliation/deterrent for attacking Huntsman for melee fighters because you’ll get walloped right back for 6. A pseudo-defense card if you will. (Emphasis on pseudo)
Good question! Medusa’s ability specifies HER ZONE, so an adjacent opposing fighter in a different zone can not be targeted. Might not make a ton of sense but that’s how it works mechanically. Gotta use every trick in the book if you want to beat Medusa!
The gaze of stone isn’t that bad. My opponent often saves them up so if I’m ever short on cards they can usually hit me. But, I do agree second shot is better.
Me and my friend have been playing a King Arthur vs Medusa game for a 2 to 3 times and in every game she git the good damn stongaze off causd I didn't have block cards or used a regroup
I like Sinbad the most from BoLv1, the incremental increase in movement and damage you get from the Voyages just give you sort of an in-game mini goal to play as many as you can, and it just appeals greatly to me
The difference in move value and difference in range are key advantages for her, along with Arthur’s lack of AoE outside of Restless Spirits (but thats just one card) to deal with the harpies makes Medusa a nightmare for him to overcome
Keep up the great Unmatched content. This game is super under rated!
Just started collecting this game and have watched many of your videos. So grateful to the you from 3 years ago who started making them!!
‘or a potato’ just killed me
Thanks for noticing 🥔

Sweet! Thanks for watching!
You say she is the ugliest character from pack 1, but she is one of the nicest minis I have ever painted!

Like, subscribe, and YEET! 😆 Thank you again for making this content. I get excited every time I see a new episode.
Thanks, glad to hear you enjoy them!
Great video. My Mrs more often than not seems to manage to hit me with a gaze of stone so guess that makes me a potato 🥔☹️
😭😂 Sorry! You gotta block better haha!
When's the next video!??!?!?
I'm REALLY trying to get one out tomorrow, my university started classes again last week and my priorities have been slightly shifted 😭
Her ability is the hardest for me to consistently remember.
I ~always~ forget 'Start of Turns' abilities 😩

Bit of a beginner question, but if a fighter is adjacent to Medusa, does that count as being in her zone even though the space is not the same color?

@@BakedGoods Oh nice! So you wont take the auto damage. But medusa can still attack you if youre adjacent but not in the zone right?
@@EliteBadFrog Correct

King Arthur is so weak against Medusa, especially when she pins him in a corner with her sidekicks. Really strong deck
The difference in move value and difference in range are key advantages for her, along with Arthur’s lack of AoE outside of Restless Spirits (but thats just one card) to deal with the harpies makes Medusa a nightmare for him to overcome
