I had a chance to play as Little Red this past weekend and she is, hands down, my favorite character to play. Her basket-mechanic is so engaging! And you are 100% correct on her susceptibility to Feint. Still at the moment, she's my go-to.
I have been watching each video in the series and really enjoying them, so thank you for making them. One small request: Please keep in mind some of us are listening on headphones/earbuds. The "ABSOLUTELY INSANE" at 35:25 absolutely wrecked my ears. 😇
Huntsman is an amazing sidekick. Going up against red you need to kill Huntsman. Same as Merlin. The difference is Red still does fine on het own. Arthur is screwed.
Good video, I have a question, When I use "WHAT LARGE HANDS YOU HAVE" and I match the basket simbol, can i choose between the two effects? or I only can choose if i choose the basket effect.
I'm stoked about those two characters. Bar none the most interesting one's till date esp. little red. Thanks for the great video, a lot of work was put into it.
I would guess that “what large hands you have” spamming could be a viable strategy. I’ve never actually tried it, but I have played a homebrew character with a similar card and spamming that card was very effective, particularly against opponents without as many defense cards. There were a few notable differences between the two though. First of all the homebrew character was ranged, so the spamming was done much more against mele characters. Also, the basket effect was not on the homebrew character’s card, and that card’s effect only worked if you lost the combat. This added a layer of mind games, especially sense the homebrew character had a few situations for 5 or 6 damage setups with effects that weren’t too hard to pull off. Still though, using “what large hands you have” a few times could certainly get your opponent questioning if you were going to play it again or something stronger.
It is of note that What Large Hands You Have has a Pelt symbol, which is precisely the symbol needed for the extra healing from A Grimm Tale, potentially enabling her to heal 8 health within a couple of turns.
Are you sure that only 1 effect on the "Never leave the path" card should be triggered even if wild card is on the basket? Because according the rule "if symbol near the effect matches the symbol on the basket, trigger that effect", all 3 effects should be triggered. Anyways that is what i thought and me with friends played her this way.
From the special rules section of the LRvsBW rulebook: “The Wild symbol counts as any one of the three symbols but not all three.” I wish it counted as all three, then NLTP would be INSANE!
Are you sure the first card you play always triggers? We always assumed since the basket card read ‘this is not a card’ it didn’t trigger as it wasn’t the top card of your discard pile since it wasn’t a card.
The rulebook has a special section for Little Red and clarifies this there. Basically the basket ‘card’ counts as a wild, so it CAN be whatever you want it to be when you play your first card
It seems that never leave the path in your opening hand just immediately wins the game against Dracula and Medusa, as you just kill all the sidekicks and deal them 2 for free. Is it an overstatement? Seems a bit too strong to me, especially against two of the top fighters.
That move is very strong although it requires a few things to go right for you: 1) There's only a 31% chance to have at least one copy of NTTL in your opening hand, although that percent goes up with a mulligan 2) If the opponent's starting zone is further than 2 spaces away, you'll have to boost with a Basket or a Knives card 3) Your opponent can spread out their sidekicks if they are going first, and let's assume you go first 50% of the time So really it works optimally about 15% of the time (turn 1 only, still a beast card later in the game), which I don't think is too bad. But I will say when it does work, it does feel pretty bad for your opponent, especially if they have multiple sidekicks.
Just a quick question for anyone who knows. Is what's on What Big Ears You Have not considered an effect as it doesn't have timing (immediately, during combat, after combat)? I assume it can't be canceled because I have no idea how that would resolve.
couldnt she technically choose if she resolves the effect on the first card played, because her basket is one of the 3 symbols and if she chooses to use a different symbol that is not on the card, she wouldnt have to resolve the effect. Hope this is not to confusing.
I don't think he's ~that~ much better than them but he certainly can block more. Even though they both have cards that give them more actions their playstyles differ enough to make them feel different from each other.
@@BakedGoods From my few games with Bruce he seems to be more consistently able to do more one turn damage in practice. Could just be the opponents though. Feels like Feint just destroys Raptors but Bruce has more tools to get through Feint, getting cards back from discard pile and stuff.
Bruce definitely has more tools to perform 4+ card combos in a single turn, whereas I think the Raptors are designed to do more damage per attack (if positioned correctly) and just eventually overwhelm the enemy
So if you defended with “what big ears you have” but were attacked by Feint (or a rare attack card that cancels all effects) would you be able to defend with it yet? Or would it be lost like Arthur’s boosted cards?
This is an interesting conundrum. I checked the BGG page and couldn’t find anything, but my guess is that nothing would happen (I interpret Big Ears as essentially not having any effect after you use the text to play it defensively) and that Big Ears would just block 4 damage with no effect. Arthur’s ability specifically states that if canceled, the boost card is discarded, and that instruction is not stated on Big Ears, and I figure it would be if that’s how the designers intended the card to work.
I agree with Baked Goods. The effect on that card does not have a time trigger (IMMEDIATELY, DURING/AFTER COMBAT): it triggers when you commit the card to defend-one of the few cards in the game whose effect ‘out draws’ a Feint.
@@BakedGoods yeah, she's like a thug, but, as for me, all art on her cards look a level lower style-wise, than others. Looks like a fan-art rather than serious work.

Little Red has been my favorite fighter thus far. I appreciate you taking the time to provide your analysis on her cards and playstyle. Thanks!
She's so fun, probably my 3rd or 4th favorite hero so far, and thanks for watching!

My goddamn huntsman almost always dies waay before a healing card would come up to my hands lol

The Huntsman is literally always the first fighter to go down in my games lol
I can’t wait to get this set.
I highly recommend it! Have fun 🥳

Even I’m not really sure 😂

Easily my favorite character.. it's so satisfying killing bigfoot and Medusa with this child.. keephuntsman alive, and boost for basket setup.

It is still an effect.
I think it is an effect but I don’t think playing a Feint against it would do anything

I suppose so, although I’m not sure when or why you wouldn’t want to trigger an effect. Maybe Wolf’s Skin if you REALLY didn’t want cards?
So, to trigger the basket, you basically have to play UNO on top of playing unmatched?
Is Bruce Lee just a better version or Raptors? Askin for three friends.

I think Bruce is better. Being 1 fighter instead of 3 is actually better in most circumstances. Also Raptors have very little defense cards.

Am I the only one who dislikes art on little red?
Which is pretty strange for such fancy game.
I think the green/orange backgrounds are slightly off putting for me but I love the character art, Red looks badass.

@@BakedGoods Idk, Alice probably.
I love the color scheme that Alice has! She has lots of 'trippy' card art that I think matches the source material perfectly!
