Zenitsu’s Potato Mochi from Demon Slayer!

Ingredients:
-2 potatoes
-1/4 cup potato starch
-cheese
-vegetable oil
-nori
-skewer
Mitarashi Sauce
-3 Tbsp sugar
-2 Tbsp mirin
-2 Tbsp soy sauce
-⅔ cup water
-1 Tbsp potato starch or cornstarch
Recipe:
-make mashed potatoes with 2 potatoes
-add potato starch and roll it into a long roll
-cut it into 4 even pieces and form them into squares
-fry them in a pan using vegetable oil until golden brown
- on medium heat, create mitarashi sauce using sugar, mirin, soysauce, water, and potato starch
-lightly brush the mitarashi sauce onto the squares.
-cut 4 squares of nori and place on top
-skewer your mochi squares and plate!

i can see not many ppl follow your recipes cause i followed this to the T and my squares are breaking down in the frying oil. he’s clearly not telling us a vital secret or process to make these.

Try *not* following the recipe to a T; instead, add just as much potato starch as needed for the dough to become firm, but pliable. From your description, your dough is probably too wet for whatever reason (though it's most likely not your fault, different kinds of potatoes have different amounts of starch). When pinched between your fingers, the dough should feel like an earlobe.
