Here's a simple recipe for a classic steak:
Ingredients:
- 1 or 2 high-quality steaks (such as ribeye, New York strip, or filet mignon)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- Olive oil or clarified butter
- Optional: garlic cloves, thyme sprigs, rosemary sprigs
Instructions:
1. Take the steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30-60 minutes before cooking. This helps ensure even cooking.
2. Preheat your grill or skillet over high heat. You want it to be really hot to get a good sear on the steak.
3. Pat the steak dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Season both sides generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
4. If using, rub the steak with olive oil or clarified butter. You can also add minced garlic cloves, thyme sprigs, or rosemary sprigs for extra flavor.
