Si !
I saw then together checking out of a hotel in Montreal in 1970. They may have had a thing but they are both unbelievable performers and I wish them well
I have liked Belafonte's music since his "Jamaica Farewell" first became popular in 1957. He aged very well indeed: both in voice and appearance. I found Nana's music only many years later. Both are truly great singers in my opinion.
Belafonte is the teacher. In the 60s, he always took a new singer under his wing and tour with them to show them the ropes and introduce them to a new audience. At that point he was touring campuses all over the USA and Canada. They toured together in 1964, 1965 and 1966. After that, she started he solo career.
From what I was told. It was a total surprise, but a few weeks before the show her companion Andre Chapelle kept putting that song on the sound system when they were at home to familiarize her with the song just claiming he liked the song.
@@bornicks2 wow.....adding to the story....make sens...it was a bit risky back then to do this...Nana did really well and Harry was great leading her through the song...
