      M H the per capita murder and violent crime rate (including breaking and entering) is all that matters. Iceland is always going to have a lower murder rate than the US even if Iceland legalized murder. This is due to the population difference. Per capita is the most important.

      The Romans had it right the first time: commit a serious crime, and you get nailed to a long wood board, mounted through the hands and feet and let to bleed slowly.

    Semi Auto fires one round per pull of the trigger not 3. Sad this was stated by Ben Shapiro.

  • @DoctorQuackenbush

    Ben, you're so smart so when you make an error that is fairly easily checked, I'm sad. Full auto firearms are NOT illegal, just heavily regulated (see: NFA of 1934). The Hughes amendment prohibited non-LE/Mil people from purchasing _newly manufactured_ (after May 19, 1986) machine guns. People can buy and own firearms that were registered before that date, if they have the cash and can pass the ATF check.
    As noted below, a 3-round burst would be a feature in a select-fire weapon. Semi-auto weapons just reload after each trigger pull.
    There are so devices that allow a semi-auto to fire like a full auto (e.g., Bumpfire stock). Under these circumstances, the assailant could have used regular semi-autos with possibly similar results, due to the defenselessness of the victims and the distance from the attacker.
    As I noted in another video, "sawed-off" (or short barrel) shotguns are also covered under the NFA and require a ATF check.

  • @markperroni69
    @markperroni69 7 ปีที่แล้ว +59

    No, Ben....
    With semi-automatic weapons, you don't hear "bursts" of 3 shots. They only fire one single shot for each time you pull the trigger.
    These bursts only happen with AUTOMATIC weapons, that have a selector for SEMI / AUTO / BURST / SAFE.
    The BURST and AUTO are not present on civilian issues. Only FIRE / SAFE options.

    • @markperroni69
      @markperroni69 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's over now. Had to do some community service.
      But, since I graduated from law school, I've always kept my eyes opened, and there was a presidential pardon that our corrupt female president (we kicked her out last year) gave to benefit some criminals from her political party that were convicted of corruption.
      Since the pardon was for all who got less than 4,5 years, and had already done over 1/4 of whatever the penalty was, I called my lawyer and we succeeded in obtaining the pardon.
      So, I didn't do much, anyway, and didn't pay the fine either. And the asshole got crushed by a truck!! Karma is a bitch!! LOL

    I'm not an American and I don't live in America so I don't really have a dog in this fight when it comes to gun laws in the US.
    On the one hand it seems like common sense to me for guns not to be freely available to every Tom, Dick & Harry to just walk in to a store and buy one. But that is because i live in a nation (The UK) where hardly anyone has guns. Even most of the police don't have guns here!
    On the other hand, I read that the USA has more guns than people. So again my common sense reaction would be that if you outlawed guns tomorrow then the only people who would be disarmed would be people who do not want to break the law i.e. the kind of people who pose no threat to anyone in the first place.
    Murderers, rapists, bank robbers, gangsters etc.... Do not care about the law. Murder, rape, theft etc... are ALREADY illegal yet criminals still do that stuff, so why would anyone expect them to obey gun laws when they don't obey any other law?
    It's too late to ban guns in America (wether you agree with guns or not) and the best way to minimise overall crime is to make sure as many good guys have guns and as few bad guys have them as possible. Banning guns would have the exact opposite effect of that and leave the good guys unarmed and at the mercy of the bad guys.

    Semi automatic fires one shot per trigger pull, not a "burst". A burst would fall under the classification of a fully automatic firearm. See previous comment.

    • @colinomeara1315
      @colinomeara1315 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ThatBugBehindYou disagree. You got to be kidding me! How often does the government turn on a country and require you to need an automatic weapon?? You’re talking about a situation 80 years ago!! The risk of innocent people being killed by automatic guns (which as you know, are deadly weapons designed to kill at a rapid rate with high efficiency) far outweighs the risk of the government turning on you and having you needing such a weapon. Next thing you know you’re going to say in case of a zombie apocalypse. Unbelievable how adamant some people are about having these weapons. A laughing stock to the rest of the world at the pure stupidity. It really is baffling

    For all the people claiming Ben is politicizing this and standing in their graves I strongly disagree. It's one thing to discuss current affairs, it's another to use a particular incident for your political agenda. Ben clearly stated at the beginning of the show that it's important to wait for the facts to come out before making any cases. He talks only facts. Sure he talks about gun control too, but not this particular situation. He is being patient and reasonable of this situation while the rest of the media goes batshit. Those are my two cents.

    • @UndertakerU2ber
      @UndertakerU2ber 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it's quite clear that he's already formed the conclusion in his mind that this is a mental health issue and that he's just waiting for information that vaguely relates to a mental health issue so that he can turn the issue into one that can be used to fuel his anti-mental disability bias.
      Ben has long been quick to blame mental disorders for mass shootings. He outright stated this on Piers Morgan's show and on Dave Rubin's as well. Ben cites no scientific evidence to back up his claim that mental disabilities are the cause for mass shootings and ignores the evidence that shows that mental disabilities have virtually no relation to violence, and that many other characteristics are better predictors of violence such as being male, being a substance abuser, and having a previous history of violence. Ben even just randomly brought up mental illness out of nowhere in the video, which further shows that he's looking to preemptively blame this on some unclear problem in the mental health system, and blame psychiatrists for not being able to predict who's going to go on a mass murdering rampage even though they aren't trained nor expected in any way, shape or form to possess an ability to know who is going to act out violently.

    As far as I can tell, the shooter's father was an abusive psychopath who was locked in prison when he was just a few years old. He escaped prison again when he was fifteen and then was locked up again when the shooter was in his mid-twenties. This seems like a case where the shooter was abused by his father when he was young, had a hard life, then decided to go out with a bang and kill people.

    • @doctor99267
      @doctor99267 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adam Flaherty my guess (this is purely from my 'imagination') is that the shooter lived a long boring normal life and up to his sixties he relised that he was going to die without making an impact and so decided to "go out with a bang". It explains why his brother saw no signs because he said the last time he saw him was 6 months ago and so the shooters plan must've been recently and also why he went through the effort of amassing 23 guns, modifying them, sending his girlfriend on a vacation just to steal her hotel key card, and killed himself just as the police arrived because he knew he made his mark on the world.

    NATIONAL RIGHT TO CARRY. The right of self-defense doesn’t stop at the end of your driveway. That’s why I have a concealed carry permit and why tens of millions of Americans do too. That permit should be valid in all 50 states. A driver’s license works in every state, so it’s common sense that a concealed carry permit should work in every state. If we can do that for driving - which is a privilege, not a right - then surely we can do that for concealed carry, which is a right, not a privilege. - DJT

Why would a 64 year old with a great life who had planes and multiple house's with no known criminal back ground do this? Why would he just randomly snap like this? Of the gun stores that he "shopped" at the staff interviewed said he had boughten handguns and a shotgun, clearly not the weapon used. He had a girlfriend and had been married before he had called his family in FL to make sure their ok after IRMA? doesn't sound like someone who'd commit such a heinous act. I think we all need much more info to jump to conclusion because it really doesn't seem like he'd fit the profile for something like this. Also as a side note why would he bring 10 plus weapons into the hotel room? I mean you'd only need one rifle to "get the job done". Anyways we need to save judgment for second and find out everything possible about this case then we can judge.

      There is no sound argument from gun-controllers about this. It's basically just "pass more laws because it will make government bigger and the citizens smaller." It will make a lot of idiots _feel_ better too of course. But no, it won't actually prevent bizarre mass-murder scenarios like this from happening.
      A major breakthrough for me was when I was a university student and at the same time I was learning about guns and developing them as a hobby:
      I realized that there were tons of laws and rules and funding and that there would be severe consequences; but that there was nothing that could actually stop a person from buying a couple guns (legally OR illegally), putting them in a backpack, walking into a populated area on campus, and murdering a bunch of people.

      I know it's kind of a comedy skit but honestly checkout John olivers gun laws about Australia. As an Australian I've never been in fear of being shot, only when I served in the military and was deployed did I gain an actual understanding of why they should be banned. A gun literally let's you point click and end another person's life...that's a pretty insane thing when you break it down.

    • @ManDuderGuy
      @ManDuderGuy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Curtis Russell
      The same concept of "point and click" applies to various melee weapons like knives, clubs, etc. Not to mention explosives, trucks, the list goes on. We only have ~11,000 homicides in the US yearly with firearms, including JUSTIFIABLE self-defense by citizens and police officers, not to mention mere accidents.
      Consider the fact that over 300 million people live in The United States, and that we are a free and open society with importance placed on the freedom of individuals.
      Does it surprise you then to find the extremely rare case now and then where some psychopath abuses those liberties and tries/succeeds to murder strangers for no real reason? With the right tools and materials you could make a f117 as well. The point Vulphulx was making is that it is more difficult to convert semi to fully auto. To convert an Ar15 you would need a complete new m16 receiver. Saying that it could be done with a skilled gunsmith equipped with a fully stocked workshop doesn't refute that.

    Rarely known fact: A silencer does does not actually silence conventional ammo. A big part of the sound of a gun is the shock wave of the bullet travelling above the speed of sound thru the air. If you want to shoot a gun on the range with a silencer and no hearing protection, you will need to make sure you purchase ammo where the bullet travels below the speed of sound.

    Ben's reputation is built mostly on his je ne sais quoi. Simply put, it is his pious tone and immovable posture that creates the illusion of intellectual infallibility. But alas, he is just like us. Emotional and irrational at times, obstinate and beholding of erroneous views. Yeah, he's not always right... (correct). And I think he is someone who rarely concedes defeat. Anyway.
    Ben is clearly driven by emotional hysteria in this video, and makes claims that if an opponent made, would be torn to shreds. Like the religious barb, stupid. Probably regrets it I'd reckon. Or the fully-automatic weapon rubbish in the opening few minutes. His incorrect claim was made in haste before the knowledge of bumpstocks was realized. So, he's gone off half cocked in his attacks on the left. This is not his finest hour. Stick to taxation and trickle down economics, that's my advice.

    A)this video should be ad-free. I think its very insensitive to talk about a subject as grave as this. 13 minutes in and i'm being sold a bouquet of cinnamon cider roses.
    B) Perhaps even more insensitive is people, like ben, pushing their political agenda so shortly after a tragedy has occurred. Obviously this is a pressing issue, but I personally believe that this time should be dedicated to grieving for the families who lost loved ones and encouraging support for those who were wounded.
    C)fully auto weapons are not illegal. They are very regulated as you mentioned, but they can still be legally acquired if you really want...just requires passing ATF check and a fair sum of money

      Flash hiders are legal, cost $30, and can be put on a gun in 5min. You don’t need a silencer to hide flash.
      If you used a silencer with full auto like that, you would start seeing fireballs spitting out the end of the silencer. It would not do much.
      Also, the sound you hear in the vids are from the bullets passing the sound barrier. Since the shooter is far away, you don’t hear the muzzle. A silencer would not stop the bullets from breaking the sound barrier, and so it would have sounded the same. The asshole who shot up everyone would have just had less hearing damage... until he killed himself of course

I agree that the vast majority of people who own guns will never do something like this but the problem is that it only takes one person to commit an act like last Vegas.

      th-cam.com/video/_U6tORrODJE/w-d-xo.html Here is an example of it. A bump stock (or slide stock) is a buttstock with a recoil spring in the rear pad, so that when the gun fires, it pushes back towards you, then recoils it forwards again. The way you use it is to not actually pull the trigger with your finger- you keep your trigger finger stiff over the trigger, then push forward on the gun, and the recoiling allows it to be repeatedly pushed into your trigger finger.
      Two things to take from this demonstration is that: 1. The fire rate is erratic, and inconsistent. 2. This shooter has practiced the tactic of bump shooting with this tool. The fire rate in the Vegas shooting was completely consistent throughout the volley of fire, only stopping to feed the gun with more ammunition (which could have only been a belt-fed, not magazine-fed). A lot of ranges don't allow you to use bump stocks, even though they are legal, and it requires a lot of range time to understand the way to accurately, and correctly fire with a bump stock. Bump stock shooting also changes when firing at different angles (firing upwards / downwards), and since he was dozens of stories up, he had to have been firing at near a 45 degree angle downwards, which would make it harder to keep the fire rate consistent.
      I am looking more into the incident now, and there are early reports (which are usually very hard to trust), that bump stocks, AND fully automatic weapons were found in his room, so as I concede that I can always be wrong.

    Ben - semi-auto is not burst fire. That's an optional setting for a full auto. A semi auto requires a separate trigger pull for each shot.
    We can't be certain, yet, that this was the shooter. He wasn't hard to find. There was a window broken out. Is it POSSIBLE that someone else was the shooter and used this guy as a patsy? 10 rifles there, but seems that he only used 1 or 2. So why have 10? Why break the window rather than go to the roof, where it would have been much harder to tell where he was? If he planned to die anyway, as would seem to be the case, why not go down closer? If he was using a bump-fire, that takes some practice to use well. Did this guy practice?

    • @thizlam4810
      @thizlam4810 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      3333glen Sounded like he had a modified fully auto rifle, those tend to malfunction frequently. Probably had multiple modified rifles as backups in case they malfunctioned. I definitely don't think he was bump firing that accurately for that long of time.
      He probably didn't go to the roof because it would look pretty suspicious for a guy walking up with guns or a duffle bag up to the roof, and most hotels don't allow roof access to guests unless it's part of the penthouse or reserved for parties
      The only reason he stopped shooting people was the smoked emitting from the rifle he was firing, triggered the fire alarm and alerted authorities to the room he was in. When he realized they were coming into his room, he turned the gun on himself.

    The shooter's story is weird because a 100% lawful guy all his life, happy-go-lucky wealthy retiree gambler, does not become a terrorist at the age of 64 all of a sudden. And no untrained killer can be shooting 8 minutes straight before his heart gives up from the agony (most people can't catch their breath after they shoot 1 bullet against just 1 person). And someone who "snaps" gets one gun and shoots 2-3 at a supermarket - he does not accumulate 23 weapons plus ammo in a hotel room (that's spectacularly weird itself - nobody noticed??? - and how did he transport 23 weapons to Las Vegas - he drove there with a truck??). The person described as the 8-minute shooter 'all of a sudden' does not exist. The guy they found dead didn't do the shooting.

But I also have to say that guns in the hands of citizens are NECESSARY for freedom, period. These kinds of attacks cannot be prevented. Proper healthcare (mental) and security can certainly reduce these occurrences but they are never going to go away, its the price of freedom. That is the truth and no one wants to say it.
    Additionally, all this silencer nonsense is so fucking stupid. First of all its completely irrelevant. Second of all they aren't called silencers, they don't silence anything. They are called suppressors and they are called suppressors because they serve two purposes: SUPPRESSING the sound and SUPPRESSING the muzzle flash. They don't get rid of either, not even close. Third of all Hilary Clinton is total SCUM for bringing it up. Couldn't even wait 24 hours. Unbelievable

    Ben, you're a logic guy, you can't say "there's no real evidence" about something that hasn't been tried.
    I can't give you data, about something that hasn't been measured..
    so that's an invalid point, i could say, hey let's try it out for 10 years, and see how much of this decreased, if at all..
    but of course, you won't agree to that, because it's really about your personal freedom to own arms.
    To that i say, your freedom to prepare for cases in which a hand gun isn't enough,
    isn't in balance with the freedom of 59 concert goers to enjoy the music without it instantly transformed into a civilian made killbox.
    but the main point i want to make is :
    There is no evidence, what so ever, no logical roadmap, even in theory,
    that in the case of usurp government, someone owning an ar-15 can make any sort of a difference.
    I would go as far as saying, you aren't really allowed to say that, nor assume it.
    because, what is that based on ?
    can you cite one instant in history, where a civilian being armed managed to stop such a thing ?

    I think the facts are pretty simple. A guy went crazy and decided to use a ridiculous weapon that nobody should have for any reason except "I like these guns" to kill many innocent people. I'm Australian and every time this happens in your country I feel horrible for you, and I am reminded that I live in a safe country where it is virtually impossible to get weapons like this. Gun control works and most Australian agree with me!

    A good place to start is for the people of America to TAKE TWO KNEES. We use our freedom to live self-centered lives (except when there is a massive crisis), and then we wonder why all these things are happening to our land. The country needs a genuine wave of repentance. May God send it to our hearts. Without his mercy and grace, we are doomed as any other empire from the past.

    I cannot stand Bernie Sanders. Literally cannot stand that hypocrite's voice. Thankfully his clip was short. He infuriates me.
    On another note - there is an audio going around the internet of a Puerto Rican police officer who said that the mayor is intentionally holding back supplies for votes. It's very interesting.

    One of the rifles did indeed have a slide stock for bump firing, which is not surprising since many who tried to identify what weapon he used where confused by the change in rate of fire while shooting. That being said, dude had a lot of money and could afford pre-ban fully automatic weapons. So even an outright ban on slide stocks and echo triggers wouldn't have even stopped him from legally getting such weapons.

    Why is it about 80 plus motor vehicle deaths occur everyday in the U.S. , but no one sites vehicles as the problem? Every time someone kills with a gun it seems to be about the gun not the shooter.

    The short answer: yes.
    Under the National Firearms Act of 1934 full auto firearms are required to be registered with the ATF. In order to register, you must have a tax stamp. To obtain the tax stamp, you must pay the ATF $200. The ATF will ask for some additional paperwork including fingerprints and a photograph - basically everything they need to do a background check. In conclusion: you can own a full auto if you pay the ATF $200. They will send you a "tax stamp" to let you know it is legal for you to possess the firearm in question.
    The main issue with full autos is that the registry was closed in 1986; meaning no fully automatic firearms made after 1986 can be registered. So to obtain a full auto today, you have to find a full auto made before 1986 and convince the current owner to sell it to you. The limited supply means you will pay a pretty penny for a full auto firearm today.
    The other way to obtain a full auto, legally, is to obtain a "post-'86 dealer sample". The way you can that is to be an FFL and have a law enforcement organization request that you obtain a sample - maybe an MP5 - so that the law enforcement organization can evaluate the weapon(s) for possible use. After you obtain this "dealer sample" you're allowed to keep at as long as you remain a going concern (e.g. stay in business).

    Yes. It is legal to own a fully automatic Class 3 firearm. This is pursuant to the National Firearms Act of 1934 or NFA 34.
    Those who wish to own a Class 3 weapon must undergo an extensive background check by not only the Department of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms but also their local sheriff's department. It's far more extensive than the background check given for buying a rifle or pistol. A $200 tax must also be paid for every Class 3 item that is registered.
    Suppressors, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, and destructive devices are also included as Class 3 items.
    An interesting fact about Class 3 weapons is that no lawfully owned Class 3 weapon has been used to commit a crime since 1934. The exceptions to that have been police officers who have used their duty weapons in a crime. You can look that up. It's the truth. If the shooter in Las Vegas lawfully owned the machine guns, or submachine guns, that he used it will be the first time since 1934 that lawfully owned Class 3 firearms have been used in a crime.
    Las Vegas is host to the largest machine gun shoot in America every year. People bring their lawfully owned Class 3 firearms and everyone has a fun time legally and safely. The public is invited. You can go and shoot a machine gun, submachine gun, short barreled rifle or shotgun, or suppressed weapon.

    It is legal, but there are limitations on legal ownership of full auto guns that make it difficult and very expensive.
    There is a $200 tax on purchase, a months-long wait to get paperwork processed, and the cheapest and lowest quality full auto gun starts at about $5000. A fully-automatic M16 rifle can cost around $40,000.

    It is legal to own an automatic weapon provided there is one for sale to a civilian or the weapon was grandfather as a civilian use one before President Reagan’s signing into law back in the 80’s.
    One you are clear of and have satisfied both Federal and local State and or City permits and pay for a tax stamp, you can assume possession of the weapon or its sear (the mechanical device that allows full or partial automatic fire).
    The supply of such civilian weapons is limited hence the prices are ever increasing. A civilian cannot purchase ex military or LEO agencies automatic weapon either. Nor can one alter the sear of a non automatic weapon to that of a full automatic weapon under penalty of felony count.

    It is absolutely legal. You just have to pay $200 for the tax stamp, wait about 5-9 months sometimes double that for your permit to come through and then prepare to spend anywhere from $5000 to well over $150,000 depending on what you want. Oh and on top of that, you have to find a dealer that has one for sale, is willing to sell it, and has the balls to sell it. This process will take over a year if you are lucky and under ten if you aren’t lucky enough to have the money to burn. You also have to provide the ATF with your photograph, fingerprints, and a metric shit tonne (that’s the proper technical term) of paperwork just to acquire this tax stamp. Basically you will end up just short of being able to sell firearms if I’m not mistaken. It’s a super long and complicated process. OF course you could just go the short and very illegal route and acquire one through less savory means,

    "Silencers" (correctly referred to as suppressors) greatly reduce muzzle velocity, and the effective range of any firearm. Supressors suppress some of the ear damaging sounds but they are far from "silent".
    Supressors also slow bullets down by a large percentage, making rounds much less effective at longer ranges. Honestly if a "silencer" was used at this range it's likely more people would have been injured rather than killed outright.
    It's apparent many people don't actually know the federal gun laws at all! which is a shame because (IMO) they are actually quite responsible when in reflection to the second amendment. If anything they balance a little more toward infringement of the 2nd amendment however, "some" people agree with "some" of the Fed laws already in place when it comes to fully automatic weapons. I'm NOT going to spell them out here BUT ALL OF YOU SHOULD EDUCATE YOURSELVES! Including the definitions, so you know what your talking about before commenting on (ANY) issue really!
    Unfortunately ONLY responsible law abiding citizens follow laws, apply for permits, pass background checks, and pay fees! Criminals DO NOT and they NEVER will.
    Someone hell bent on doing evil often succeeds in MANY situations with or with out a firearm and honestly armed citizens save themselves and other people in a lot of cases. Ask a police officer! From robbery to murder most police WANT law abiding citizens to be armed! YOU are your first and sometimes your only line of defense if someone decided to do evil upon you. Once you truly understand what that means, you'll see why it truly doesn't matter if law abiding citizens have full auto weapons or not!
    FEAR is a product of EVIL. Education, moral values, precaution, and preparedness should always trump fear! Freedom isn't free, it comes at the greatest of costs and it's well worth the price! If you think giving up your right to bare arms is a good idea, you obviously know NOTHING about world history or the evil that seeks to take your freedom from you.

    In Japan, where gun ownership is restricted to shot guns and air rifles, there was just six gun deaths in 2014 as compared to 33, 599 in the USA. If Japan had the same size population as America this figure would still only be 18. In America you are now twice as likely to be killed by a gun than to die in a car accident. And yes the USA figures do include suicides and accidents, but they also include the 900+ people shot dead by your police, and the 110 police shot dead by criminals. And since you have bought up the subject of atheism, 31% of Japanese are now atheists. A figure which increases every year. If you go where the evidence leads you (the scientific method) you can come to only one conclusion - Japan is a much safer country to live in than America. And by a long way. I also have to tell you that in 2017 godless Japan is a far more moral country to live in than America.

    Full-auto weapons can be purchased in the United States, but require what is called an ATF Tax Stamp; meaning you have to register. AK47's are legal, and are fully auto.
    However, reports as of now on this shooter are that he was using a modified AR 15 (meaning the gun was converted from semi-auto to fully-auto at home) which IS illegal. And tampering or modification of a semi auto to fully auto is illegal because it has not gone through the ATF. No legislation you can think of can stop that.

    Hey Ben YOU are not familiar with firearm laws. NEW manufacture of automatic weapons was ended in 1986. You can buy automatic weapons today .... as lonng as you can pass an ATF background check and can afford the market price, which is steep. Average price of an automatic M16 is about $15K

How can anybody, especially someone of this level of intelligence, say that 50-60 people were murdered when there has not been one convincing photo of a real dead person???? It is legal to own a full auto weapon if you pass the necessary background checks (which this guy would have) and wait 4-18 months for your ATF tax stamp. Once the ATF sends this back you can pick up your full auto weapon. the same thing happens when you buy a short barrel rifle, suppressor, some explosive devices, etc... It is confirmed that a couple of the weapons in the hotel room were modified with a bump fire stock. This is completely legal for someone to purchase and does not require any background checks to own.

    Semi-Automatic doesn't fire in 3 round bursts; that's called "burst" on the selector.
    Non-Automatic means you need to load or cock the weapon before you can fire a round (bolt action and old weapons)
    Semi-automatic means a round fires every time you pull the trigger (almost every weapon sold today except shotguns)
    Burst Mode means the weapon fires 3 rounds every time you pull the trigger (Only ever saw this on a military weapon. it is illegal without a special permit)
    Automatic means the weapon fires until you release the trigger (illegal for anyone without a class 3 license)

    Not to necessarily correct Ben, but to at least make his comments a little more clear.
    They are called SUPPRESSORS, not Silencers. The ONLY time that a bullet is truly "silenced" or at least make the bullet so quiet that the sound of the firing pin hitting the back of the bullet is louder than the bullet going off is when a "sub-sonic bullet" is used. However those bullets are super expensive in comparison to regular bullets, when using a regular bullet it still makes quite a loud noise; just not loud enough to damage the ear drums.
    As a matter of fact, in Britain they are required to use suppressors when hunting with rifles. And that is the only gun allowed (within lots of background checks and money) because they don't want others to freak out when they hear hunters fire their rifles.
