What a delight to see a new video from you Jen!
I also love What Page Are You On and you’ve picked out the exact same ones from their Best Books episode that appealed to me (except All Fours, which I have already read and loved). Great minds! Definitely definitely definitely need to read The Fate of Mary Rose. Sounds exactly like my kind of thing.
Hope you’ve had a lovely Christmas break. See you in 2025!

The Axeman's Carnival and All Fours were two of my favorite reads this year! I hope you enjoy both of them. I'm very interested to learn more about Clean. Happy holidays to you and yours!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on All Fours. Two other BookTubers liked that one very much. I must, however, wait for the paperback.

Thanks Jen, I'm reading Children of Paradise at the moment and loving it. I'd love to read Marni's book, like the sound of it.

What an exciting book haul! I haven't read any of these. The Coin is on my TBR, and I'm also interested in what you'll think of All Fours, Disappear Doppelganger Disappear, and the Yan Ge one. I keep seeing All Fours online but never looked at the blurb, it actually sounds super intriguing!

Clen was one of my favourite novels this year, I think you're going to love it.
I read mostly older titles this year, as part of a couple of reading projects I did, but my favourite new books, besides Clean, were North Woods and the latest by Olga Ravn (not yet translated into English, but available in Swedish) which is about women accused of witchcraft. A story often told, but Ravn's poetic language, from the perspective of a baby made out of wax, is so wonderful to read! Look out for it in future (I assume they will translate it soon).
Happy New Year Jen, and get well soon! 🫖

Ooh, the book by Olga Ravn sounds fascinating. I truly hope it is translated into many languages. Thank you Robin.

Awesome to see "Shelf", haven't heard about it. I've recently got a book about picture books called "Children's Picturebooks. The art of visual storytelling" by Martin Salisbury with Morag Styles and it sounds and looks incredible and features amazing picture books. Will make my way through it, because I love picture books.
May you and your family have happy cozy days.✨

I loved "Axman's Carnival" I can't wait to hear your opinion on it. I'm also curious what you will think of "All Fours" because despite all the raving reviews, I found it impossible to enjoy. I had to put it down before we even got to the 'scandalous' parts; the writing style was not working for me.

I read All Fours after avoiding it for a while. But I finally gave in and am glad I did. I can see why it received mixed reviews. My reaction right after I finished it compared to a few days later was interesting. Very curious to hear your thoughts on that one. Also, I'd love to get the Holly Exley book but can't seem to locate a copy right now. I recently moved to Scotland and am still a bit obsessive about anything Scotland!

Have you read Death Valley by Melissa Broder? I feel that might fall in the "women unraveling" category, and although I haven't loved her previous works as much, Death Valley ended up on my favourites list. It's such a strange and almost hallucinatory book, but it captures the protagonists grief over the loss of a parents and her husbands chronic illness so well.

Two of these I absolutely hated. I won't say which ones as I'm interested in hearing your unbiased thoughts once you've read them. I have appreciated another year of content from you albeit truncated by baby which is of course as it should be. Happy new year.

The coin is my favorite book of the year the main character felt like a best friend she is so opinionated and wrong most of the time but I couldn’t not love her it also deals alot with losing your place in the world and not being able to belong anywhere

I saw Journey's End on Broadway when I was a teenager (early 2000s & it felt very politically relevant in all the anti-war protests.) It is the straight play that has stuck with me the longest (over 20 years) and felt the most impactful in the viewing. Very interested to see how it reads as a script and how it connects to the world in 2024/25
