Thank you for all of these tips! I am starting my swatch stick project and want to also mark my polishes with cabochons. It sounds like getting craft glue would work better than the glue dots.
THANK YOU THANK YOU. I’ve been using the silicone dots and yes I know the problems with them - so thank you so much, And while I’m thanking you…… I’ve just spent a few hours watching some of your videos. I found your channel while searching for something else and decided to watch. And then I just kept watching. 😊 You are very informative. We have something in common and something fortunately not in common. I too got into polish when I was a nail biter - for me a 12 yr old biter. That was many many yrs ago - I’m an antique. LOL. Fortunately though, unlike you my addiction to polish only appeared when the Covid lockdowns happened. Till then I thought my 100 bottle collection was insanely outrageous - little did I know.lol. Since the onset of Covid - 1 yr and a 1/2 - I now have to add another 0 to the number of polishes I own. Can you imagine if I had started this back then. I’d need to be living in a HUGE mansion by now just to store the polishes. So be careful - as you so accurately said - money does not grow on trees! LOL. I wish. Anyway keep your videos coming please - they are really enjoyable. Have a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Thank you so much! I've been making myself crazy trying to figure out an easy way to see my colors when they are in a drawer. This was so simple, I did most of my polishes in just a few hours over a few days!
You're very welcome! Yeah I love doing this so much. When I got my first helmer I was so annoyed with having to take each bottle out to find the color I was looking for 🥴
Oh my goodness, your beautiful Heather's Hues drawers! I have my polishes on travel cases bc I travel between MN and FL, but enjoyed your video. The brand that I've avoided bc of the bottle shape is Ice Cream Polish!
Thank you! Ugh yeah I avoid that brand because of their bottles too. I purchased some years ago when I first started buying polish online and wasn't happy with them. The bottles are cute but annoying to work with.
Giiiirrll you came through with this video! I LITERALLY just ordered some of these and need to know how to apply them to the polish bottle and how to use these effectively. Lol. Thank you babes!
Thank you for such an organized & detailed video on how to add glass cabochons to your polish caps! How do you swatch your magnetic polishes on cabochons to get as accurate as a swatch depiction as it would be on the nail? It seems that with/without a QDTC and a full 2 minute wait per coat with the magnet it still leads to a line that disperses fully. On my swatch sticks, although they aren't as sharp/defined, months later a somewhat dispersed, but distinct magnetized line is still visible.
For magnetics, I place the magnet underneath the paper so that the magnet is close in contact with what would be domed side cabochon. And then paint as normal. I usually will let the polish dry on the magnet so that the line stay’s really crisp but that’s not 100% necessary. If you keep the magnet underneath everything for about 24 hours to make sure that the polish is 100% dry/fully cured it shouldn’t disperse too much more from that point
@@NicoleLovesNails 🤦♀ I feel so silly now, why didn't I think of that?! I've magnetized my nails this way before yet it didn't occur to me to put it under the cabochon -- thank you!
Love this! I have just been painting a dot of the colour on the lid tops but the variation in size of dots is driving me mad!! Definitely going to give this a try. Thanks! 💖💖
This is fantastic (thank you a zillion times!), but the part that made me smile the biggest was "cat hair"! I LOVE that you have cats! 🤜🤛We have 23 including 8 indoors and 15 ferals that live in our backyard, which we feed and care for all day, every day. (They've been altered.). Sorry... will go watch the rest of the video now. 😁
@@NicoleLovesNails : 🐈⬛🐾 Cats are my thing, for sure. Crazy cat lady? I'm beyond that. lol So I bought all the stuff you used here and started the process of "decorating" the lids of my polishes. I have over 4k, so this task will go unfinished long after my demise. I guess cats AND polish are my things. But it's fun! I love how the cabochons look from the top side after you polish the bottom. So pretty! Thanks again for all the fantastic info!
I do the same with my toppers-half black and half white. And my few POP polishes and Black Dahlia polishes-I pour them into small, square bottles and use a label maker. I still have to original bottles but the don’t fit in my Helmers and it’s annoying. So annoying, I never buy them unless they’re amazing-looking polishes.
POP bottles are pretty annoying. They're one of the reasons why I no longer buy from that brand. When I used to store in racks, they would always fall every time I closed the door to the room or took a polish off of the rack. And then in my helmers I have to surround the bottles with other polishes or they topple over. They look cool but just aren't practical.
@NicoleLovesNails any tips for thermal polishes? I’ve gotten super behind and am going to try to catch up on adding cabochons to my bottles. I’ve been trying to think of a way to to show cold and warm state and haven’t come up with anything short of printing off a picture and adding it which wouldn’t be a color match 🤦♀️
I don't think there would be a way to show both the warm and cold states short of printing something out to show them. I generally store my thermals based on the color they are in the bottle (so cold state) because of that.
I LOVE the Celeste magnet!! 🤩🤣💕 I know it's off topic but I gotta ask where you got the Animal crossing magnets from? (hoping they aren't stickers lol - I'm a magnet gal - I can't commit to the finality of stickers 😂) I love this method because it looks like you could remove the cabochon & glue dot, if you ever wanted to for any reason (see - I have commitment issues with adhesives 🤣🤦♀️😭) Have you ever successfully removed a glue dot without damaging the cap? I'm wondering if it would leave residue or take cap coating with it.. The inside of the drawers look so dang pretty with all the glass cabochons!! 😍 If I ever decide to mark my bottles this is definitely the way I'd pick 😊 Tysm for sharing this with us - it was a fun video! 💕 👏 🥂
Unfortunately, that one is a sticker that I got off of Amazon (link : amzn.to/3k6zS6Z) it was in a pack of 100 stickers. Not officially licensed but I really liked them anyway. BUT at the same time I ordered those, I also got these magnetic sheets amzn.to/3z7gOd1 where you can turn stickers into magnets! I did a couple and it was easy enough. Just the more complicated the sticker shape, the more patience you need to cut them out. I kinda gave up after 4 😅 Yup I have removed the glue dot without damaging the cap! I used a metal cuticle pusher to pry a dot off. It's a little difficult but doable. It took less than 10 minutes.
Why not paint the top side? I noticed painting the flat side isn’t an accurate representation of what the color looks like on the nail. Some Of them look so similar side by side. I’m struggling with what to do.
The nail polish would chip off over time if you paint the top of the cabochons. This method is more so for organization and finding things quickly with drawer storage. For organization to see what a polish will look like on the nail, swatch sticks would be a better choice. I used to use them but it wasn’t realistic for me to have thousands of swatch sticks laying around for each nail polish I own.

You’re welcome! I think craft glue will also work for this purpose! I have heard of people using E6000 with good results

Do you think a dollop of hot glue would be an option worth trying when attaching the cabochons to the caps?🤔
