I’ve been using logic for a decade, more or less, and you still present things in this awesome program I had no idea it could do. I definitely will be checking out your course.
You learn something new! I was about to suggest using Shift-Enter to move the playhead to the marquee suggestion and then hitting CMD-T to cut, as this also doesn’t deactivate the marquee. Your solution is even faster, so I guess that’s what I’ll be doing from now on!
I don't learn the way most people learn. I googled the word transient in music and I interpreted the definition as the the loud "noise" at the beginning of the music being played on a particular track. In my case I use session horns pro and sometime I get an audible "noise" at the beginning of some of the horns musical notes that when the track is soloed, can easily be heard. If that is an example of transient does it mean that this editing video can help remove that noise? This video seemed to be an example of how to create your own loop so now I'm confused as to what this video has to do with transients. I'm assuming that it's too difficult to help me but I figured I would ask anyway and hope my question makes sense.
Here's a random question for you: I'd like to apply rainbow colors to my Logic tracks. I know you can set it up so that the tracks are automatically set to the rainbow colors *after you make the setting change. However, I have templates with hundreds of tracks that I would like to apply the rainbow color to without having to rebuild the template (and also without having to go to each track to re-color them individually). Is that an option?
Hey, huge question! Is there a way to nudge audio while the transient detection in the file editor is held in place? it always cuts a tiny bit of the start of a transient off and for editing drums, if I want all of them perfectly lined up at the absolute start of the transient, id have to manually adjust all of the markers. Would take so long lol either way, is there an easier way to adjust the position of all the transient detections at once so that when I Flex Time, it places everything correctly? I use a quantize, then go through and fix any mistakes type of method. you can achieve this in pro tools so I'm wondering if you can do this in logic. Im so close to finding a faster way to edit drums in logic, but this transient thing is all that is left to figure out, otherwise I have to just subscribe to edit drums in protools lol thanks!
I too have a love hate w pro tools, after like 10+ years as a pro tools only guy, when pt 2018.1 came out I switched to logic. Def some thing Pro Tools does better, one of the main things IMO is being able to take a recording w no grid (not perfect bpm) and create a grid for it. Really alot of the things PTs is better at have to do with recording bands and live stuff w no click track. When I switched to logic I thgt this wld be a much bigger problem, but after finding work arounds and the fact that alot more of what I do now is working w music that is on a grid. Avid has just slowly been sinking the Pro Tools ship IMO! Digidesign and Promedia were the best back in the day and def pioneered the modern DAW and brought recording music to home studios around the world!
Great Video as always. Could you do a video on the same subject only with using Brass instrument samples (Pro's & Con's) I did this on my reggae style song. I would like to see your approach. Including how Logic will change the key of the sample used.
Hello! I was wondering if you have a video or can make one for a specific thing I cannot get around in Logic, that maybe others are having the same trouble. When I Cut a region that has several takes, than I want to drag the region to the part that has been cut, and the audio doesnt appear, neither the graphic nor sound. This is not a problem with regions with just 1 take. Thanks ! I can send a picture to make it more clear.
You can also customize the key commands in Logic to be like Pro Tools. I used to do that when I used PT fairly often to keep myself from getting confused!
Hey tech guy! I’ve been wondering and checking over the years if there’s a way to import sound sound design from adobe premiere to logic. But it seems the only way is to render stems. I’ve heard protools does this seamlessly but I want to stay with logic.
I’m sure this has been explained in other videos but at 3:40 when you loop the drum copy in the new track channel how do you make the loop start and end without manually selecting the yellow bar at the top?
I wanted to know if there is an option in Logic Pro to take a song from TH-cam and separate the singer's vocals from the music (so that I only have the singer's vocals) is there such an option???
Check out XTrax Stems from Audionamix. I did a review of it a while back, and it's actually pretty cool. I use to remove drum from cover songs that my wife plays drums on. It's not horribly expensive either. th-cam.com/video/QmGKecrO8dY/w-d-xo.html
Logic has tab to Transient you just have to assign the key you want. im pretty sure if you look it up in key commands it there because I use it all the time.
Yes it’s forward and rewind by transient. The first function I demonstrate in the video. You can change the key command to be like pro tools, yes. But it’s no different than what I demonstrate here.
Hi am using logicprox 10.7 1) when i open logic its allways shows me ur audio interface not connected.. Actually i connected my scarlet soundcord plss tell me 2) when i using logic drum kits or some other sometimes while i on the space bar clik jumping on first bar nd go... If u know these plss do one video sir tq
1) Logic Pro > Preferences > Audio > Devices. Set the Scarlett as your interface for both the input and output device. If it doesn't show up there, you may need to update the Scarlett driver. Although, every Scarlett device I've ever used automatically works without any additional drivers. 2) So the playhead is jumping to the first bar when you press the space bar? Could be that you have the cycle range set to the beginning of the project. Press C to toggle the cycle range on and off. Other than that, I'm not sure.

8:38 you could also use the backspace/delete key and it splits at the point, plus u can keep the marquee point!
You learn something new! I was about to suggest using Shift-Enter to move the playhead to the marquee suggestion and then hitting CMD-T to cut, as this also doesn’t deactivate the marquee. Your solution is even faster, so I guess that’s what I’ll be doing from now on!
Holy Padoodle Town! I've been using Logic for about three years and never knew this! Very cool! Perfect for that pocket stuff.
That last work around was worth the wait! That’s exactly what I needed to know.

I was just asking about this today! Crazy!

What a useful video!! Thank you so much!!
How about doing this but for a MICI track?
Great - very useful
Not sure if you have heard of keyboard maestro, but you could set up tab to transience in logic, pro using that, it would work the same as ProTools
You can also customize the key commands in Logic to be like Pro Tools. I used to do that when I used PT fairly often to keep myself from getting confused!

Command U. That will make a cycle range that’s aligned with the selected region.

@@MusicTechHelpGuyi already set input and output of my soundcord but its coming pblm i think its bug of logicprox tq for reply sir 🙏
Too bad Logic doesn't actually jump to the zero crossing of the transient.
Losing the Marquee after the split is something apple needs to fix bad.
Instead of ctrl+cmd+T use the delete key. Marquee will then stay
Logic is simply a mess, when it comes to workflow settings. So unnecessary complicated.
