Was amazing place in the 80's. I remember along the sea front there was a building that was dressed up as the ghostbusters, and there was a wear wolf in a cage that use to shake the bars just a few steps down the road use to make me jump and scare me as a child :D

Where the hell is everyone? I used to go to Yarmouth every summer when I was younger and the main Street would always be packed with people. It's the same with a lot of coastal towns they seem to be steadily getting worse. It's a real shame.

It was a windy day so I guess less people than usual. I personally think Great Yarmouth is a good beach with lots of things going on. Thank you for your visit. Have a great day.

Probably one the best video I've seen of gty looks like a wide-angle lens. i was there a week from 2nd September 2023, been visiting most years since a child and loved the chip stalls on the market, fav being Bowers who had been there since 1901 but when the council decided it needed revamping a lot of the market stall holders incl my fav bowers chip stall as the new rent would be far too much for these guys. now bowers did some nice sauces let alone fab chips, people use to travel from far away for these famous chips and I tried n tasted almost all the remaining chip stalls and was totally dissatisfied like none of them knew how to cook a decent chippy so I found what seemed a nice place just passed [2 doors] from arcade leisureland but each time I had them [really nice to taste] I was dashing for the toilets afterward. oh and another disappointment was the Turkish eatery near the top end of Regent Road with an open plan front and a upstairs seating as well, just found it tasteless and far too loud with their music blaring out but ha theirs a really nice Chinese take a bit further down on the left, use to have sitting area but just take aways now. i was hunting for a decent pint in the local bars around Joyland area so gave up n pop into corner newsagent who did ice-cold Corona bottles, and went down a treat in the warm weather. also pub on the right by the traffic light think called Prince Albert with outside seating did a nice pint lager. i stayed opp the Faulty Towers Hotel self-catering and had reg breakfast in the hamburger cafe opp the toy shop, not bad. i also for the first ever time went on the trigger [beach] train, nice but very bumpy in places, from Joyland to Britannia pier taking in the old penny arcade, one my favorite pastimes as I remember them before decimal came in about 1972. then while waiting for the train to return I had 2 yes 2 strawberry whimpy's ice creams as was truly nice. Unfortunately in general I found great yarmout bit of a bore now as all the arcades had the same machines in them and 90% were the 2p slot machines with awful prizes in them. this video was done before I was there as the water shoot just outside the pleasure beach/land is no longer there, been dismantled and auctioned off for charities to make room for a new roller coaster.

Used to visit nearly every year for 2 weeks holiday , early 60's - late 70's
Visited Mother's parents and brother who lived in southtown (up from the Haven bridge)
Uncle used to work in the Town Hall.
      Really miss those times

i was there 2nd September 2023 and found that the Victoria Arcade had hardly any shops or cafes open, all closed down except the odd few. the market chips was a special treat for us and many other people but now a disappointment, even johnnies pie n mushy peas started doing chips but what I had went strait into the bin, his pies far too small that I also didn't like as for his peas I never tried but when john took over from his father around or before 2000, my dad said they weren't as nice as he loved them previously.... i think the town councilor should be grabbed somewhere it hurts and reduce him to be the town cryer, lol
