I'm pretty sure due to position, Day 13 was the window marker, while the model magic was split between two projects. (Day 9) Red+White for santa's hat and (Day 24) Black+White for a penguin. There weren't paper activities for those days.

I love how the pine tree marker went with a CHRISTMAS TREE so the tree could smell like an evergreen, it's actually super smart and hella nice. Gives it an oddly realistic situation

England, advent calendar every year- Lego Playmobil etc (still have one every year and I'm 29😬)
I grew up in Germany and as a kid, we always had Advent-Calendars with only pictures behind each door. We still loved them. My grandma kept every one and re-used it every year, so that in the end we know all the doors and pictures by heart. Now we have a calendar that is made of little bags, that we can stuff ourselfes for our kids with little toy and candy. AND I think that there was an activity in the Crayola-calendar to make a little penguine from clay. The white platic-thingies seem to be hangers for that, so that you can turn it into an ornament.

As a child I had two Advent Calendars that you could put you own sweets in, one was a cute house with little drawers and the second one was a string with 24 socks, I got both of them from my family in Germany

We had a quilted advent calendar we reused each year (I think my grandmother made it). It was a simple Christmas tree with a felt texture and with pockets beneath it, and each day, there was a new ornament to stick on the tree :) it was the highlight of our days!

Advent calendars are not a thing in Brazil, where I am from. I got to know them at 17 when I was an exchange student in Germany. My hostmother made one for each of us. She placed each surprise in this really pretty handmade wood box with small doors. I loved it so much 🥰 Here in Finland, where I live, they are also a thing. I love them so much. I am an adult, I am not Christian or celebrate Christmas, but I still get one for myself for how much fun they are 😄❤️

Scented glue sticks and crayoons need to be a thing and can we pls bring back smencils! Idk how a pencil can have a stronger scent than a marker but you could smell those things like 4 feet away. Im a 2008 child so I only ever got them like once a year they just appear in my life. Ima get a whole pack off amazon at some point. I'm from Germany and advent calender are a huge think here. Always had a chocolate one as a child. These days there are so many different calendars. I bought 2 for myself this year. One with spices and one with Handlettering stuff.

As a mom of preschoolers, I'm normally not into advent calendars where kids get more stuff every day. Like, how many more tiny little things do we need in our house?! But, this looks really cool. Craft supplies can continue to be used, plus instead of just junk, there's something to keep them occupied every day!! I might need to get this one.
Things sounds better than the ones who give a crappy toy that would be discarded soon.

I believe the word you want for the glue would be "tacky." The glue is tacky. That should solve your accidental innuendo problem.

I was 6 or 7 when my parents made advent calendars for my brother and I. They cut a Christmas tree and a wreath out of plywood, painted them green and put little hooks on them. Then they got two sets of cute ornaments for us to paint and decorate, and those were part of our traditions.
I'm from Southern Germany and Advent Calendars are a MASSIVE thing here. Tbh I don't think I know anyone who at least at some point had one or even still has as an adult (totally not me)
It kinda depends on the family but for me and a lot of my friends we actually got self-made calendars by our Moms which is honestly the best deal you can have, otherwise basically any toy's brand and fandom has calendars +the classic chocolate, tea, perfumes, make-up, the list goes on

I’m Australian & we only had Advent Calendars when I was a child. I don’t have my own kids but I think my sisters get them for their own kids
I'm from Czech Republic and until recently advent callendars were mainly only chocolate ones. Now some makeup stores here do ones with cosmetics and there tends to be more options in general. However chocolate ones are still the most popular.
Same in the UK! We only ever had chocolate advent calendars (at least in my lifetime, lol) until the past few years. I think beauty advent calendars were the first non-chocolate ones I saw

I'm from Norway and we have advent calendars, but me and many other have a gift calendar where we get a little gift every day... and when I got older I got one gift per week in december up to christmas, because every day calendar would be expensive when I don't use kids stuff anymore.

My sisters youngest also has his birthday december 21 and I tell him he's the reason days get longer from then and that he was born in order to bring us longer days. He's 15 now and probably does not belive me anymore but it's a cute way of thinking. And yes, he's a ray of sunshine, always smiling and making people laugh.

In sweden we have advent calenders in tv form too, its basically 10-15 mins/episode and everyday until christmas eve (when we celebrate)and we also have a radio calender the same kind of thing. We also have chocolate or makeup and legos and basically anything.

Had an Advent calendar that my mom made for me when I was super young, so 1980-ish? It was made mostly of felt, about 2ft tall. Top half had a Christmas tree with little pieces of velcro on it. Bottom half was the calendar part. Each day had an ornament and a tootsie roll, so it was a whole month of decorating a tree and a piece of the only type of candy I would eat. I'll have to ask her, but I'm fairly certain the pattern was in a magazine like Good Housekeeping or something similar. So if there are any other US grains in their 40s here, I'm betting at least some had a similar Christmas Countdown. 😊

True story: As a kid I was given a Crayola painting kit with one of those brushes and cheap paints. It literally put me off painting so bad that I didn’t even attempt it for 20 years. Now I love painting :)

My school used those brushes. I thought I had no talent. I tried again at the age of 50. Fifty. I now paint every day and love it, gift them, and now even get offers from acquaintances and told I should go semi-pro.
Screw Crapola. Give kids halfway decent brushes (and fund art programs).

The craft for the 24th was the model magic penguin. They definitely should have invested in a few glue dots. The cardboard also should really be glued down between the tabs so the whole front doesn't just peel off towards the end.

I'm from the Midwest US and the only advent calendar we've ever used in my house is just basically a countdown to Christmas with no treats
I think it's pretty good quality and it will take all day to make one activity and then the next day you have a new one so it's just probably not easy and you'll be busy every day until Christmas and on Christmas also be busy on wrapping all the presents are gone so it's pretty cool I would rate it 10 out of 10

I also liked the activities more than the gifts and I think it could be done into a cheaper thing where you simply got an activity to color a day (most of them could be done with just normal crayons except the model magic thing).
But I also think that gifts like art supplies are better than some crappy plastic toy that kids use for like a day and then toss away. Even without the activities now needing to use everything together kids would just continue to use them to create until they run out. Kids don't really accumulate unused art supplies like we do 😂
My takeaway is that they included paints instead of a small box of crayons. Then the glitter crayons would help to create effects. But I guess this was made for kids who already have the basic art supplies and would like to test some of the special effects ones like the glitters.
I didn't like the box one bit, the design on the front doesn't look christmasy or like a gift at all, things inside moved, there wasn't a guide of what you were getting so you didn't know if the item was right for the activity (the activities could say what item should be).
About the activity for the 24, I think it didn't have one because these things are so kids don't get bored before Christmas but there's already so much to do on Christmas Eve so there's no point. But at least it could have something that say "only one day to go, the activity today is to celebrate with your family".
I'm pretty sure day 24 was the clay penguin ornament, which wouldn't have a paper activity. But otherwise, I agree with the rest of your comment! I didn't think of it before, but yeah, once the paint dries, the markers and crayons would pop out really nicely on top of those bright colors and could be used for highlights, shading, or other effects. This is probably considered appropriate up to pre-teen and they'd be advanced enough for such techniques. :)
Also, absolutely, most kids would already have some basic (or fancy) supplies that they could use to supplement the calendar ones. These are usually given by the parents to their own kids so they know what they have already. For anyone else giving this advent calendar as a gift, it wouldn't hurt to buy a small box of crayons, colored pencils, or markers just to be safe (since anyone buying it can guess Crayola is going to be arts and crafts activities.) XD
@@DoveJS The clay ornament came with written instructions so I guess it could be true, althought it's weird the instructions wasn't with the activities for consistency.
@@fanaticaH Yeah! They should've printed the model clay stuff onto the big sheets in both cases, for consistency. My best guess is they re-used an older kit with smaller instructions or perhaps there was a hiccup in the design department.

I cannot believe how much better this is than the Arteza calendars. The construction of the box needs work, but it's basically everything I've said an art advent children calendar should be. Themed for kids and crayola, yes, but that's not important. And while you are getting things like crayons and one single trash brush, you're also only paying $35 vs $90. And though it may not be a deal, the activities and cohesion of it (and ensuring that all days that need one get a paper to draw on, instead of limiting it to one or two days with mini canvases) make it still feel worthwhile. I see this was 2020, though, so I am worried that they either discontinued or somehow made it worse.

My daughter loves an advent calendar. She had a lego one one year, but mostly picks a chocolate one. Last year our local supermarket sold cheese advent calendars. Naturally I had to get on to try, lol. This year I've even seen a coffee one.

But they did stick the hints on the side of the little tabs you're supposed to pull out so it's tempting to pick it up and look closer if you don't think first to tear them off entirely. And even if people lie it down normally, sometimes you'll pick the box up to manipulate objects out of the slots, especially if it's in there really tight like that crayon was for example. But anything as big as that clay packet should've had a dab of glue on the back to help secure it. I wonder if that dried up or if they thought the plastic edges of the square slots would be secure enough? Getting everything just right can be hard. :)

Yes, there are different types of colour blindness though - the most common being red/green colour blind.
I have a friend who sees color...on a different spectrum. She showed us a "gorgeous emerald green cake with a red, red rose" and the rest of us were looking at a lime green cake with a giant hot pink rose.
Told her it looked awesome and secretly tried to figure out which smart alec switched the labels around 🤣🤣🤣
