- ■ SA PA, VIETNAM: As I stepped off my bus upon arriving in Sa Pa town yesterday I ran into a Hmong woman by the name of Mama Zee who said she runs a home stay in a tiered rice field in the mountains about 4 hours walk from town. I took her contact details and the next day we journeyed through villages and mountain paths to her family home.
Going to the bus station on a daily to find tourists who wants to stay at her Sa Pa Homestay is a time consuming and more often than not futile endeavour. Let's help her grow her social media presence so she can find foreign trekkers and homestay guests more efficiently.

■ Why am I uploading this for a third time? I wrote this on my community post earlier today but resharing here:
First of all vids getting in trouble after uploading is nothing new. Videos get set in limited state and/or 18+ & demonetised/copyrighted for music all the time. I mentioned it happened in Mexico when I drank from a clay figure shaped as a voluptuous hottie. It also happened with my original Cobra video 5 years ago just to name two vids you may know.
The Mexico one was same day. The cobra vid out of nowhere 6 months later as suddenly it was graphic , algorithm stopped pushing it completely and vid went from couple of thousand views per day to under 100 and of course no ads despite it having done well and had no problems up until then.
Neither of those times (nor any other of about a dozen I can recall) did I bother to take vid down and re-upload. I just accepted it and moved on to next vid.
That’s what I would’ve done now also the very first time it happened.
The only reason I haven’t done so is that this is a video that has the potential to do a world of good for the family we’re trying to help and maybe even the region they live in and Sa Pa itself. (A big vid showcasing a unique experience like this can attract thousands to visit a place)
So no, this has nothing to do with me being upset one of my vids don’t have ads (as some of you claim). That happens all the time and I am probably the only TH-camr you know who would ever upload controversial vids without even trying to put ads in the first place and knowing said vids will cause many to hate me and even lead to loss of future income.
Both my first CopperCab vid and my Helicopter hog hunt vids I uploaded knowing I could not put ads on either of them.
I also knew both would create s shitstrom, get me tons of hate and mean some people leaving. Simon my friend even said No way! You can’t upload that! (Helicopter vid)
I said: watch me and have kept vid up ever since.
As I’ve said in other posts if you don’t have ads on a vid TH-cam will not push it like it does other vids and with 18+ label there is no way it will ever be in search when normal tourists search for homestay in Sa Pa or even Vietnam videos.
Some of you subscribers will see it but that’s it.
It is very hard to create buzz and drive business in the direction of entrepreneurs or organisations but we’ve done it here countless times with:
Oberdan (Rio ice cream vendor from Favela),
Cyrus (Peru street vendor & guide),
Martina (Florence guide),
Sunil (hundreds of thousands raised for his cancer foundation and 170+ kids given treatment & help)
Kumar (taxi driver in Nepal who now lives in a 5 story mansion)
many restaurants, hotels, barbers, Masai tribe, even pork lady in Vietnam who wanted my photo the other day and showed me our original vid from 5 years ago
Each one of the individuals above got a huge boost from viral videos with them in it and Oberdan have said many times since, that his life changed ever since he meet this man in his posts on Instagram where he posts photos of me and him together when we walked around with the ice cream van that time.
I know how to do this and we HAD a big chance to do that again here with Mama Zee (although I personally think that chance has now flown by due to this community guidelines debacle which truly killed what by now would've been momentum of the first vid and for reasons I've explained in previous posts can't be replicated with re-uploads).
However for at least some attention to come her way, it does require that the main vid with her, which will always be the first one, gets reach outside my normal subscriber base, shows in search and is pushed by TH-cam to travellers and potential visitors to Vietnam.
And that can only be done if it’s in good standing and have ads. That’s TH-cam and I generally don’t have an issue with that obviously. Every company is run for what pays the bills. (those of you saying post on so and so platform aren't actually reading what I've been writing. Only here on TH-cam can I create a buzz around a destination or individual enough for it to make a substantial difference in their life)
Now TH-cam itself is being incredibly difficult, vague and troublesome with this particular video. I honestly didn’t expect any issues at all as I edited first one seeing as I blurred whatever could be seen as mildly controversial (preparing a chicken the way most of the world still does).However plants growing in a field, me referring to roosters by what they are actually called, BBQed pig’s head about to be eaten, more plants, intestines being eaten by ducks, intestines being cleaned, blood soup on a dinner table and on and on….
The potential issues with this vid now that I’ve heard all of your suggestions (plus the 3 TH-cam gave themselves on the first vid), it’s absolutely insane what is deemed offensive and 18+ these days.
So this vid, 3rd attempt, is so watered down and bad compared to the first one (which I also thought too watered down already) it is outright embarrassing! It’s tragic the benign stuff I’ve had to cut entirely out from what is nothing but a leisurely walk up a mountain to a chicken dinner.
But we try again!
This is an outrage! No worries bro we will still watch and support your videos no matter how many times you upload .

I honestly thought you were about to fall into a tourist trap when you met her at the bus station and I was so wrong. All she wanted was to show you her village and their way of life which is truely beautiful and magic. What a place and so alive. Nature, animals everywhere and all the people are so friendly. They are really living their best life up there. I hope you visit her again some day!
Yep, it's a pretty well known saying not to trust anyone that walks up to you on the street but this just shows how that (not necessarily unwise) pessimism can often lead to you missing out on incredible experiences in life. There's no scam or ill-will involved, just a genuine human being trying to make a living for their family.
Over the years I've watched you help countless people and seen how generous you truly are. Not only financially but also with promotion and knowledge. It's a shame that real life and humor has to be edited. The world has gotten too sensitive. I'll watch this every time you have to upload.

As a 2nd generation Hmong American, it was very interesting watching where I originated from and how life could’ve been for me if we haven’t immigrated to the US during the Vietnam war in 1975.

Even though I live in the USA 🇺🇸 I come from a 3rd world country 🇩🇴 and the things you show in your videos are normal to me.
I seriously believe that the end of the world could happen and all western countries would collapse. Meanwhile, all the countries that live with and from nature will still be here. I will watch over and over to give support.

I agree with you but I would challenge you to read the apocryphal texts and Samaritan texts. Take a look at the stone wall with the writings. You’ll find that it’s older than what Catholics gave us. Ethiopian Bible. It just makes one think a little bigger of how just how big our God is. I’m not saying I agree with all the older stuff. Mama Zee and her family are absolute legends and lovely people. Their homestay and the view from up from their Homestay is amazingly beautiful. The moonlit sky was really mesmerizing too! We will get this done one way or another but long term what's best is if people who arrive in Sa Pa for a holiday instantly think of visiting Mama Zee because they've seen on youtube or heard that her homestay is an awesome place where you can have an authentic experience

I'm just couple of minutes in, and I have to say the quality of the content as well as image clarity is astonishing. The lightning and sharpness in scenes like 09:05 fascinating me.
Generally it's really nice to finally see some locals in non-touristic areas capable of speaking some basic english, where deeper dialogues can evolve. Loving it.

I did a trek to a Hmong village from SaPa in 2008 and always wonder how the awesome people there are doing today. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I'll go re-live through my photos.

Sad that you're having all these issues Harald. And a shame for this lady not being accepted by the TH-cam algorithm. I really enjoyed the first upload. I don't understand how people can be offended of true village life. Where all the animals have a quality life, way better than the misfortunate once ending up on our supermarket shelves. Also hemp is used all across Europe and the US for all kinds of products besides smoking. What's the difference? This sort of forced sterile environment on here is just so artificial it sucks out all the interesting fun parts. Anyway, keep going and don't give up 🙏💪❤
We Stand With Heraldo, its been 3 times i watching video. Promoting homestay tourism business by poor family, but got any shameful reaction by youtube algorithm. It just terrible policy by youtube. Hope the best for mama zee family and you heraldo , im so thankful to see this such experience

What you found here, was the Vietnam I tried so hard to discover, but I could not find in Hanoi or Saigon. The peaceful people, the slower pace. I should have gone to the countryside. Thank you Harald.
