That's a fircking awesome idea! The sled operator probably doesn't have enough time to react to even slow that thing down!
So you use 2 massive diesels that are making 8,000 lb/ft of torque to get the sled moving, but then they top out at 3,000 hp. Once they start to top out, you bring a 7,000 hp nitro methane burning big block on line and just simply over-rev the diesels for a few seconds. Brilliant!

Yes, a awesome piece of machinery. The only one in the world with this setup.
Unfortunately they have to change the setup during this winter, because of the kilo classification to participate in the Danish Tractor Pulling season 2015. They have to remove about 200kg.. And that's a lot.

Well their website says that it tops at 3500-4000 hp all in all. So based in the fact that Black Power(Another danish multi methanol v8 monster) delivers about 1300 hp per v8 my guess would be that it is also around there their v8 tops at, and then it would be 1350 hp per v12. Thats one hell of a shitload of hp compared to its diesel

Diesels was made in 1936 for aviations (bomber). But power 500 hp was not enougt for fly. And diesel goes to T-34 tank and usual for this days from 300hp for marines to 1300 for T-90 tanks. Noise, but cool. Good tractor, thanks for makers!

A WW2 fighter plane would never use a Diesel V12 they wouldn't produce enough RPMs the planes would use petrol V12 Rolls Royce Merlin engines, there diesel tank engines.

I think that first gas V engine in the front is just to provide boost for the diesels. Probably runs the turbos, water, and oil also. I doubt it's even hooked up to the drive.

I've got an engine like these that i intend to put in a car, I also had to make a custom gearbox in order to achieve the appropriate RPM

Don't get me wrong, I love a machine like this and can certainly appreciate all this guy and his team have put in to the gig, but when did tractor pulling become a speed-race thing? I know, I know, overcome the friction and get the hell down the track, ya ya ya... I'm from the old school where the only real goal was to pull the sled the distance, speed didn't mean anything. Maybe it does now, who knows? I've been out of it for so long. I mean when I was into this, a REALLY big tractor had at least 24 hamsters, and for extra kick, we'd bolt on a pair of squirrels for those really big prize purses, but that was a long time ago. I quit after a squirrel cage exploded one of the squirrels went crazy attacked and mauled my brother-in-law to death. I still get all emotional thinking about it and the crazy risks we took all those years ago. Ethyl and I really miss you George, sniff....

+dgrcgrl They are Transhmash V12 Diesel, russian tank engines. And that methanol V8 is keeping their revs up just enough that their turbos keep blowing, i.e it's almost unstoppable. Earlier they tend to slow down a bit and it choked..
Only bad thing is, that V8 sound ON HERE/in this machine, kinda ruins it, for me at least. Those V12 make such a bad ass sound when they pull on their own. (Look earlier vids without that V8)
In the first pull, they didn't even need the V8 almost at all.. too light sledge..

39L V12 Transmash from the T55 tank. But with quad turbos, normally they were normally aspirated.

what is the point of such amount of power, pullingis is all about weight. Any tractorist knows that powerful yet light tractor won't pull much. It's true that force of pulling sledge is transfered as some weight to the rear wheels but still weight is important. If the sport is all about distance sledge is pulled than engine power is not critical but weight and traction is.

not saying that exactly but i once read a report stating that motorcycles according to a specific breakdown of there emissions were far more polluting re dangerous chemicals. a average bus probably churns out more pollution in an hour than these do in 12secs. and these tractors probably dont run for more than an hour a year! lol
