This took me a few tries since my servos are reverse from yours, but once it clicked it was super easy to setup. This is going to be nice to have and I learned a lot about mixing and assignments. Thanks!
Good work Adam, your videos are just awesome. Just purchased one of these to complete an Avios Grand Tundra setup, and your videos show the sheer capability and versatility of this beginners TX. Have not flown models for quite a few years and getting back into it, and have been worried about all of the hours, days or weeks likely spent on programming it. Your videos mean It'll spend more time in the air and less on the ground, keep it up man 😎
These are also good for sailplanes by having the ailerons reflexed to reduce drag, and then lowered to add camber and increase lift. I think you might have helped me to figure crow setting for flaps and ailerons.
Excellent info, i thought this would be configurable / supported on the i6X, with 1 servo per side / flaperon. It's a fairly elegant solution. Think i will use a variable knob to get various degree's of flaps. Small flap offsets for slower / greater lift ie student flying, and larger flap offsets for take-offs & landings, or similar. Hopefully, i am not too limited on the number of pre-programmed flap offsets with the variable knob v config, though i get the knob gets you no flaps to max flaps if you want. Super!
Great video, Adam. What you’re working with on a flying wing is elevon control. That is, mixed elevator and aileron. Flaperon control applies to conventional airplane and sailplane wings for wing camber changes. 👍🏻😉
YEs, that's a good point. I was just using a flying wing as an example of a normal aircraft wing (I didn't have any true aileron airplanes at the time).
Absolutely brilliant mate I’ve just got a new plane and I’m using the fly sky controller and I didn’t think I would be able to get flapperrons working as it’s a semi glider and floats a lot in ground affect when landing well done thank you🙏
Thanks Adam! I've been looking for the answer to this question for the flaperons on my Eclipson Model C and you've explained this perfectly in a simple and concise manner.
I am finishing a model C as well but for some reason, one of my servos will not move as far as the one I mixed it with. Works fine with a split. Did you have any issues?
@@dkh10 No issues with mine. Have you checked the End Points setting in the Functions Setup menu to see if the end points are correct (mine are at 100% for all channels). Also, check the Mixes setting for the mix on the flaperon master / slave channels (I have both the Pos. mix and Neg. mix at -100%). You could also check that the Subtrim settings for the flaperon channels are entered
I need to adjust physicaly flaps position to be perfect,go to revese vervo flaps ....etc....figure out on mix channel ....at the end it worked like the way it should be ....Thank bro. Ready on air
im trying to setup a glider i guess is what u would call it. this is my first time dealing with an rc plane cause it was always out of my budget to buy one but in the past couple yrs ive gotten into 3d printers an decided to take on building my own. i have the plane built have all the electronics an the i6x transmitter an ia6b receiver but im not 100% sure how to go about setting everything up, i have the rudder an elevators working or i think thats what they are called, the small wing at the back with the flaps they move up an down to pitch the nose up an down are elevators i think, and the rudder is the upright fin or wing ( i dont know the technical terms) an it moves left an right to turn the nose left an right. but when i go to setup the big wing up fronts flaps i can only get one servo to work when i need it to control 2. if that makes any sense. i feel like this is something that might help me get it working but at the same time im not sure cause im clueless with this stuff an trying to learn. ive had more luck just watching videos on stuff that im not even looking for and finding the answers when it comes to this stuff im so far off on what to search for when i run into an issue.
Hey adam, thanks for the video! One question that I'm left with after this I'm hoping you can answer. I'm running a 4ch micro reciever. Im using the i6 with stock firmware(I dont have the cable to upgrade) The setup on the plane is left aileron into the aileron channel and right aileron into the rudder channel. Elevator into the elevator. I've set up flaperons like in this video and all of the aileron and flaps functions works great on the right stick. Problem I'm having is that the left stick still has independent control of the right aileron (and its reversed so if I use it the plane will do the opposite). Is there a way to tune it out so that the stick has no function anymore? Or do I just have to learn to ignore that stick? Hope you can help, thanks for all your informative videos!
Thanks for the clear explanations ! 😁 I hope it also works with fsi6x.... I usually use a spektrum dx8g2, but wanted to play again with the flysky 😉 Alain, France
At abit of a loss here man, thanks for the video btw it helped alot! But i do have a question; i've followed the video step by step, all settings and even servo positions are the same. When i flick my right stick wich is my elevator and aileron controls, my rudder rapidly moves left to right. Also, my flaperons only work on my right side, left wont move with it for some reason. I have to go right now for abit but once i'm back i'll completely redo it and are what happens, as for right now i havent been able to find any differences whatsoever. Running the FSI6X with the FSIA10B. Thanks in advance!
works perfectly! i wish there was a built in thing for flaperons the way there is for elevrons and a vtail, kinda annoying having to use up so many channels and all the mixes but i guess it is a cheap radio lol
With an e Flite timber the flaps and ailerons are 4 different connectors 2 for each side. How do I properly connect them it into the receiver so that I can control the flaps with the elevator
I’ve had a problem where everything works, but my right aileron won’t go all the way down when changing offset/positive and negative mixes or even making roll inputs on the stick. Looks like somebody else in the comments had the same problem and just reset the model. I’m gonna try that later
Hi Adam, this may be a longshot, but is there a way to do they flaperons on the flysky i6 but have one of the mixes with down elevator to correct for ballooning?
is it possible to turn my servo the full 180 degrees? I'm not building a plane, just trying to turn servos wirelessly, so is it possible to fully turn my servo?
hello, I am new to rc stuff and would like to know how to get 2 servos for pitch, snd two servos for roll in opposite directions. do you have a video explaining this?
Hi! Do you mean the two roll servos need to rotate opposite each other, and the two pitch servos need to rotate opposite each other? Basically, you could do that either by either 1. physically mounting the servo/control arm so that the movement is opposite the other, or 2. reverse the channel direction of the servo. Here's a video that might help about reversing channels: th-cam.com/video/-xNJZd9CGNg/w-d-xo.html .
Been having this random problem where when I set the transmitter for mixing I would only get 50% of throw even though I set it to 100!? Wtf but then I reset the model on the transmitter do the same thing again and it worked? Is that just cause it’s not like exactly the best or what? Lol also I’m using the fly sky fsi6x transmitter and turnigy AFHDS receiver.
i think it should but i am working to simply get the ailerons to work with independent servos (one servo per aileron) and that it proving to be difficult. Not sure it should be this hard but so far it seems the AUX 1 which is channel 5 only wants to see the two knobs (those are the only two options when going into Function and Aux channel setup. ) Any thoughts are appreciated.
I realize this is 2 yrs ago, but I was able to do it on the older FS-i6 radio. Instead of selecting Aux ch7 or 8 to SwC.... Set ch6 to SwC (I'm not using ch6 for anything else.) Mix#1 Master is ch1 and Slave is ch5 (pos & neg mix is -100%) Mix#2 Master is ch6 and Slave to ch1 (pos & neg mix is 40%) Mix#3 Master is ch6 and Slave is ch5 (pos & neg mix is 40%) My offset was the same on all 3 mixes (+15%) I hope this helps others with the older 6ch radio!!
I've got a flying wing set up with elevrons that work on the right stick correctly. Is there a way to change the aileron function to the left stick and keep the elevator function on the right stick?
Thanks very much for this tutorial! I used it (almost) successfully with my Conscendo Advanced. I noticed I had to set pos. mix and neg. mix at 2 times the value of the offset to have the expected behaviour. I said "almost successfully" because it was the first time I experienced flaperons, and I crashed (and repaired) because I didn't compensate with the elevator. Is there a way to do so automatically? The problem is that there is only 3 mixes on this tx :( I wanted to use the "normal/sport" dual rate system, binding it on switch C like the flaperons (it works), but this system doesn't allow to change the elevator centering, only the rates :( Is there a solution to automatically compensate the flaperons with the elevator? Thanks.
@@RCwithAdam1 Yes of course, but the 1st mix is for the ailerons (cause they must be on distinct channels), the 2nd and 3rd are for the flaperons :/ So I'm afraid it's not possible with a FS-i6(x)... Unless FlySky patches its firmware and give us some extra mixes...
Will this work on a warbird? I have a P-51 Mustang from harbor freight that I’ve upgraded to brushless and flies great but comes in hot on landing and looking for a way to slow it down.
Hi! It really just depends on how the servos are wired to the receiver. If they are connected to the same channel port with a Y-connector, it will not work. Also, the receiver on the plane needs to be a flysky receiver for it to be compatible.
RCwithAdam gotcha... i plan on ditching the single aileron servo setup and installing a servo on each aileron. And yes. I have the same transmitter and receiver as you in the video. Just wondering if it will work on a P-51 :)
I'm having an issue where my slave servo does not move the entire range of the one it's mixed with. It goes all the way in one direction but is limited in the other. If I reverse it, it limits the other way. Any help would be great! th-cam.com/video/MsEoqg0t3Lg/w-d-xo.html
