Becuase new cars are not made to be worked on, they want people to use their car for a few years and then sell it for a new one. People fixing their own car is bad for business. It's sad but true.

Build quality is a joke? Maybe interior plastic is better, but no more. Build quality now are rubish, most modern cars broke multiple time in first 100-200k, then you really can got 80-90-00 car after 400-600k in good condition.

Have to disagree. I go to dealerships frequently for fun and I've never heard any creaks from any new car. All the way from cheap Dacias to Bentleys, they're built very well. The only new cars which creak are new alfa romeos and mercades.

I have to give pushback on the build quality point. You ever been in a new Dacia Duster? That shit is the most cheap looking and feeling plastic interior I have ever sat in. It is genuinely worse than my aunt's old peugeot 206, it's also very clear that no one ever drove the damn thing for any signifficant period of time before they released it, because they would know that the stupid rubber matt constantly shifts forward and catches on your foot when trying to use the clutch. And then there's the fact that dacia can't seem to figure out how to make a at least somewhat lasting bulb, as they seem to need replacement every couple of months. Also the steering has absolutely 0 feel as when I drove over a big rock, the whole car shook yet the wheel feedback suggested i simply hit a slight bump and the suspension is so shite that if the road is just a little bumpy or cambered(average eastern european road) it'll drift from side to side with you constantly having to correct. And also despite people praizing it for it's height and therefore decent offroad capability, the underside catches constantly on a slightly bumpy farm field.
+The reason modern interiors don't tend to creak as much is simply cause they haven't been around for 30-40 years, but that doesn't mean they have better quality and I genuinely doubt a lot of them could last as long as a car from the 90s.
Then again not all 80s and 90s cars had good quality standards, but a cheap old honda, volvo or toyota will last basically forever whereas with the amount of extra stuff put into modern engines, I can pretty much guarantee that they won't.
As for the other points, I don't really see it that way apart from safety and power and even those come with their own downsides, but saying that a dacia of all thinga has the interior quality of a fucking tank is just ridiculous.
Moral of the story: Don't buy a dacia duster for 15 grand just because it's new, because at that value you could have plenty of way better cars that are just a bit older.
