Hi Matt, I ran my first marathon (Jacksonville) last Saturday and finished in 4:53. Thank you so much for your videos; I learned a lot of valuable information. 🙏
As always, you covered it. Go to the start finish line and visualize yourself crossing that finish line 26.2 miles later (or whatever distance you're racing). Let that visual drive you throughout the race. To achieve you have to believe. [brain]
🧠 Great video, as always. Visualization is very beneficial, but it can be tricky. I find that I often start thinking about my doubts about my performance. It can be tough to get my mind back on track once it gets derailed.
Very true and accurate. I have my first marathon of the season in 2.5 weeks and I find myself thinking more and more on how it will be. In previous years I was always concentrated on visualising the finish line, this year I keep thinking on all phases of the race. Now, that technique of 1st and 3rd person…. Naaa, too complicated and carbohydrates consuming 😅 BTW, meditation is an excellent tool. Kudos ! 🧠🧠
Good luck for your upcoming marathon! It's taper time (or almost taper time)! Yeah, the technique for 1st/3rd person narrative is probably too complicated to actually remember to do during a race. We all know that "race-brain" makes us all but useless towards the end!
AGREED!!! I always make laminated cue cards that allow me to visualize the race I'm training for - I bring it with me everywhere until I know it like my bible! I know where I'll be stopping for night clothes around 50 miles etc
@ thank you 🙏 I’ve got a hiccup in my plans but I’m going to start by finishing my 2024 goals of 1024k. I’m getting surgery for Christmas! 😩 but its abdominal so the legs are gonna be just fine! Then I’ll be back to my training schedule! It’s great being a tough old bird! 😝

Yes to you!! Big congrats on running JAX!! It wasn't ideal conditions this year! A little toasty and humid for racing! Still, you finished! Bravo!
Interesting take Matt. I agree visualization is a good motivational tool and helps with mental toughness.
Yes it helps and seems simple, and yet it's so much more difficult to just do that "easy" task.
🧠 very good video Matt. Really enjoyed the content and how you presented it. Keep them coming !!!
Cheers, Phil! I appreciate you saying that! 👊🏽

A [brain] is just as good as 🧠!
It's funny how simple visualization is in principle but how difficult it can be in practice.
@its_Matt_B_ A brain is also a terrible thing to waste.
Good stuff Matt! I like it!!
“If you can see…then you can do it!!”
I’m far from an Olympic champion, but do this all the time.
Cheers, mate! We may be far from being an olympic champion, but we're a lot closer than people who don't visualize! 🙌🏽

🤣 Laughing because you're so right and everyone struggles to stay positive when things go sideways! We can only keep trying!

I went from 97kg to 88kg for 181cm. Still wanting to drop a few kg, but that's weight I won't need to carry for running :D 🧠
WTG honing that running bod. Yep, ultimately it's just reducing the amount you have to carry! 👊🏽 Keep up the good work!
🧠 Great video Matt! I totally agree with all of this. Sometimes when I run a race a visualize me cheering for me!
@@annewright3486 it’s so funny you say that; I also visualize you cheering for me! 🤩
@@its_Matt_B_ great! I’m happy to be a part of your visual cheer station! 🎉

Good idea with the cue cards. I've only run one 100 miler, but I did the same thing! It's good to have that reminder!
🧠 99.99% of jump ropers use visualization to nail new moves and combos. 🙌🏻
Ahh yes! This makes sense when you have something new and complicated to do! It's a handy way to practice without physically practicing.
🧠
Cheers, Melinda!✌🏽
I’m subbed but I’d like to down a sub! Ok now back to running here on the mill! 🧠
I'm with you; a sub sounds good about now! 🥪
Good job getting in that 'mill time!

@@Deadbuck73 Ooh! Surgery for Christmas sounds like fun! 🤩 I'm kidding, of course! I hope everything, and especially the recovery, goes well!
@@its_Matt_B_ thank you!
