I feel this a lot. Currently about to start my third year at college and back when I was 12 I was not studying and instead watching Dan and Phil's videos. I am still really bad at studying and instead am watching this :) Dan's relatability really calms my nerves about the upcoming classes though!

@@danielhowell its also okay if your sense of humor has evolved… don’t be afraid to be yourself, if returning to a style that you’ve outgrown is the reason you’ve distanced yourself from youtube then leave it in the past. We’ve grown alongside you (we’re adults now, surprise!). Hell if you wanted to take a more serious route and talk about ideas and what’s on your mind, opinions etc. transparency is king these days in terms of trending content. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself - we liked you for ‘you’, not the content itself necessarily

I wonder at which level of society becoming fiction will it invert so that the movies where things make sense, and justice prevails, seems more foreign to us.
Will then we, sit down and watch happy families, equality, respect and joy and marvel at how strange, improbable, and unrealistic those images are. Will we hope and strive for that which we see. Or will we call that fantasy.
Odds are we will do what we do now. Point and gasp at the insanity of those drowning behind the screen elsewhere, while we kick our feet to keep our heads afloat in the ocean surrounding us.

Dan, here's a simple fact: you're a very interesting (whether you want to admit it or not), clever and genuinely funny person - that's literally more than enough to fuel this channel and have your audience thoroughly entertained, inspired, motivated and feeling connected to you. And the best part is, get this, all those things that we love about you that keep us coming back are always there no matter what you decide to do for a video. ;)
I don't know if you've noticed but you have a pretty damn strong and striking character and it's kinda omnipresent in absolutely EVERYTHING you do and since that's why we're all here, you never have to worry about the main thing about your content lacking. :)
Just do whatever you want, be true to your wishes and interests, and as long as there's sincerity there, people will keep watching and supporting. :))

Look, I don’t know if this helps or sends you deeper into a confused existential spiral, but my favourite content you have ever made has just been the kind where your genuine personality shines through. I.e. the gaming videos, looking through memes, baking, etc. However, if you are more comfortable producing high quality content, that is perfectly fine. I just want you to know it’s not absolutely necessary.

When I first started watching you I was 12, in middle school, awkward and didn’t even understand most of the concepts you used to preach on TH-cam . Dan is slightly older than I, so he's always felt kind of like a cooler older cousin you get a wild update from every once and a while when you meet up at family gatherings. The line about how he's seeing some of us becoming him has become so accurate, that seeing his videos about university made me realize I didn't want that for myself, and I ended up not doing any post secondary, currently being able to work from home on my own hours and I haven't regretted not going to uni in a long time

I cant lie ever since i was little and my sister said “hey try this youtuber” and showed me Dans account. I was obsessed with dan and phil, I literally grew up on them.
I was a 17 years old 10 years ago when I found Dan and just resonated with his vibe and now I'm a 27 years old very confused by the joy and distress at still resonating with Dan this hard
Dan is one of the only people who can talk about sex and not make me (an asexual person) uncomfortable. 🤣 I joke, but sincerely I think the fact that he doesn't try to dance around it or make the very mention of it seem "risque" so much as just... y'know, an awkward slightly weird thing that lots of people enjoy doing, does make it a lot easier to digest than the way so much media portrays sex. Dan! I started following you as an awkward middle schooler. I'm 24 now and still kinda awkward, but I'm also a gainfully employed engineer. Thank you for all of the videos you make and the community you created. The phandom on tumblr really made me feel less alone as a teenager. I felt like I was so weird and awkward, and at times I didn't have a lot of friends. You (and Phil) created a place where I felt celebrated for the things that made me feel like an outcast. Your impact on my life was definitely a positive one. I'm excited to see this next chapter of content you make!

I’ve been a fan since I was a kid. I and tons of others would watch legit anything you post so take your time with it and have fun! Don’t feel rushed and if you feel burnt out, that’s fine! Give yourself breaks and have fun :)
