Looks like I missed being one of the first 100 for the 299 deal, but grabbed the 379 deal with backpack. looks great. hope it performs as advertised! thanks ER!
Living in SE Florida I think I want one of these to add some fun video to my channel, if the tether comes off will the drone float to the top or is it gone to the depths of the ocean?
You probably mistake this Chasing Dory Drone for Gladius Mini. The Chasing Dory won't be available until Oct 30. And even after considering the import tax, there is no way you'll have to pay 4 times the price in USA.
Garret makes a hand held wand that beeps and lights up. My old 10 year old which is waterproof weighs about 1 pound. It could be taped on for a short duration. In the water the weight would be marginal. Maybe it could be placed forward of the camera on something like a clothes hanger wire.
Ed, Been watching your channel for quite a while and I wanted to tell you that I feel that your content is great, I like the way you present your content and it is very simple and easy for beginners to understand and your videos about the Go Pros are very informational. I currently have the Go Pro Hero 7 Black and the Skydio R-1 and I found that the information that you provided to be very helpful concerning drones. I am subscribed to your channel for these reasons. Watching you get to the point of the matter is very refreshing as a lot of other channels tend to be to wordy and take a lot of time before they get to the point. I was wondering if you can would do a video on the Skydio 2 Drone? I would be interested to know what is your opinion would be on this new product and skydio in general. Great info on the underwater drone by the way I found it very interesting I to would like to see more content. Thank you Ron Brown of Road bike adventures a weekly post
That's awesome, thanks for watching!!! Hope I can continue to help people through my videos. I like the idea of the Skydio 2 and I would definitely review one if offered :) I don't think I'd personally buy one though...nothing against the drone, company, or concept, but I've always enjoyed manually controlling my drones and learning how to hone those skills. I've occasionally experimented with follow features with the Mavic 2, but that was mainly out of curiosity and not really something I would actively use outside of an experimentation setting. I liken it to a guitar that can play itself...cool on its own, but a little dull when you know how to play chords :) The self-playing guitar may play the song perfectly with no mistakes, but it's not nearly as rewarding for the person holding it. I do recognize it has its own niche however, and it will be amazing for people just starting out, or who want to track themselves doing something, or who want to focus on the shot rather than the movement of the drone. So we'll see what happens! If one happens to fall in my lap or I have a friend who gets one, I'll give it a whirl. Maybe I'll change my mind too when I see everyone else making videos about it and racking up views on their channel haha!
Great video, many thanks! Can you, please, clarify, whether this ROV is able to write GPS-position (coordinates) into EXIF-header of jpg/dng file, which it shoots? Or may be you can recommend some othe ROV model that can do this. I need this functionality in order to map bottom pollution and make web-GIS which shows garbage locations (georeferenced points) with repective photos shot by ROV. Just approximate position (RC/controller position) will do since I will be deployng ROV almost vertically from boat. Best regards!
Hi Ed - nice review as always thank you we might find a use for this with our Surf Rescue Club - shame we cant buy it on the Kickstarter yet being a charity we dont have the funds yet - on another point how do you record the screen of your phone and camera as this would be useful for our training videos - keep up the great work you have helped us masivily at the club with you DJI drone tutorials and reviews - cheers Hieth!
You are a very lucky man with an awesome variety of bad@$$ toys, I love the videos and all the different products you showcase. I was a amateur drone pilot myself until my drone was stolen along with a few other things. Watching your videos reminds me a lot of those amazing times and happy memories flying and making videos with my son. happy Thanksgiving and Holidays😄 Please keep up the awesome videos!!! Much love from Idaho👾
Did anyone had issues connecting the device to the wifi. It keeps saying I need to connect despite I already did and then it shuts down saying unfortunately the chasing dory app is stopped with a report button. I am using android
@@PalmBeachesPaul I did get replies from the chasing dory company, but it wasn't very helpful. I had to reboot the device, send a screenshot of the errors going on. I preferred a live chat type of service, but they don't offer that so I just returned the thing last month.
@@bryanlim973 ok..thanks I was thinking of getting one for Christmas to add to my TH-cam channel but that's doesn't sound like something I have time to deal with at that price
How is it not obvious that with a tethered device you could view an HD feed and no latency control inputs instead of using a latent and low quality wifi based system???
It's obvious, but this drone operates with wifi as part of it's simplified design. No controller means less to carry, and you won't run the risk of having the controller yanked out of your hand if you run out of tether length. I've reviewed a couple wifi-controlled aerial drones as well, and it fits a certain niche.
I still find that it amazes me that they dont put a much larger battery in the drone...4800mah?!?! Thats like the size of a flash drive. I know buoyancy is a factor and probably the reason behind it. But I am pretty sure a bigger battery capacity could be used and some aditional ballast can be added to counter the weight. I mean hell, I got a 24000mah thats the size of a cell phone...weighs a little bit more than my Galaxy S20, but still...not that heavy really.
It's clear you don't understand here, that 4800mAh is a multi series battery with the intent of a fair amount of current being drawn, whereas your "24,000" is most likely a power bank which is a single series with a tiny amount of current ever needing to be pulled
i dont like the idea of a cable.. Everything is wireless today we have drones that fly like 2 3 miles away for 399.99. I have no idea why you need this long cable set up thing to get snagged on stuff or the hassle of it. Everything today is wireless wifi blue tooth bla bla.. The cable makes this kinda eh for me....
I think the tech for under water wireless is a long long way from caring enough data to do it. Even 100k under water systems require a tether/lanyard ....so strange but I guess its impossible
I have one but no customer support....they are all on holiday....If I were an investor aI would be pissed off. I do it all as prescribed...when in the water it just flatulates and will go no where.
I would be interested to see what it looks like in other locations. That footage is ugly. Seems like they should have allowed for a color correcting filter.
My better testing location from the Gladius Min video that had clearer waters has been fenced off...possibly because of my video lol. Oh well...this is the clearest water I could find without driving hours.
the google pixal 3 is the ugliest phone out. you are suppose to be a tech guru , u should have a Samsung galaxy note 10 plus. OOOOO I get it , you got that phone for free.

If the line is cut.....does it float to the surface and does the other drone float to the surface also? Thanks....cool video

i really don't think the drone would fall off. at least i would hope not
Hola donde lo conpraste No lo vendes??
Thank you! Easy to understand review. Up to the point.
Any tips for wrangling the cable after the first deployment? Are tangles a problem?
Not bad for the price!
Pretty cool Ed. Thanks for sharing.

Way too expensive considering how limited it is. 250$ is a more realistic price.
Not for salt water
Just got mine camera view is better at the beach. Anywhere else. No 👎
I'd buy one, if not for the fact that I live in the middle of the effing desert, and drones are prohibited at the only lake within 100 miles
