You are comparing a moderately equipped Forester against a full-equipped CX-5. Too bad it couldn't have been more equal with a Touring against this CX-5. So often we hear that a feature IS available on the Forester - just not on this model. Hopefully future reviews can compare two similar trim levels - with not so much disparity between them.
I agree. At the price point he said the Mazda was at the Subaru could have had leather seats as well as upgraded engine. I think the Mazda is more attractive but still bought the 2018 Forester Black Edition.
Forester as it's name implies is more for rough terrain. CX-5 is more for the daily driver with rare/occasional not so rugged terrain. Plus cargo capacity can be a concern if you're in a Forester as you'll want to carry items for off-roading/camping.
Fashion generally means 'me too', & style generally means 'only me', Subaru is not meant for everyone, furthermore Subaru has always been function 1st, form 2nd, I have owned & drove both Forester & CRV, bottom line, I preferred Forester.
Question??? About the heated seats, if I forget to turn off the button and don't drive again for a week, will it drain my battery? Also don't forget to close that moon-roof or you might have wet seats the next morning.
I've driven both of these cars recently, the Mazda looks way nicer and drives nicer (if you like driving). The Subaru has way more room and all the way to the bottom trim has AWD - The CVT is great for fuel econ but it feels like a tired granny. I want a new WRX hatchback please and thank you
that forester is also at the end of its model, it was refreshed mayb 1 year ago.. the cx5 used in the video is comparable to this forester... if they used the all new one from this year, it would be obvious that the forester would look outdated next to it.

Let me think.... Subaru is notorious for head gasket and cat converter issues. In my book that’s unreliable. I had Subaru and will never buy it again, because of those issues. Just Google it!. Therefore Mazda all the way!

Subaru is a great car but new CX-5 is more advanced in tech, engine power, luxury and overall comfort. Subaru has a little bit better AWD system but Forester should compare to Hrv, Crv, Rogue, Rav 4 and all those other cheaper made cars.The new Cx-5 is on another level competing against better cars like Lexus and Acura.
Why would you compare old models. CX-5 comes with Tech pack, which have all the features of i-sight features you talked about Subaru. This is misleading video. I bought Mazda CX-5 3 months back. It is one of the best SUV at present. This drives great, feels great to have this car, great experience, great design, greatest safety features, great heads up display, and many more features.

We bought a new CX9 in 2016. Liked it soo much we bought a used 2016 CX5 with only 19k miles for under 20k.
