Then it switched into the quarterback role and suddenly the need for a fast LCB or a Henderson in the team is not required. In a team that can keep possession (Slot's team) and gamble with possession in a calculated manner, Trent can be an ideal midfielder without ever needing to get into last ditch tackles. Think of Gertrude in Slot's Feyenoord. I think that's where he needs to improve. Increase his positional awareness and press resistance, rather than physicality.

James Milner was able to play out of position at LB for an entire season and was able to defend. Trent is so often caught a yard or two out of position and it costs us goals. He needs a Gini or Hendo covering him or he can't cope. No one doubts his crossing and passing range but unless he can somehow be worked into a midfield position I don't see where he fits. Bradley already looks a better all round RB. He's 4th choice RB for England when everyone is fit and didn't impress in midfield.
