Literally how I feel about Dark Souls, didnt like it after killing the first boss and i make sure to say that whenever anyone asks. This may be weird but there been some games I played that had a awful Level or Two but the rest of the game was good or got way better. Dishonored, RAGE, Doom 2016 and some others I didnt like but once I got through the Rut they were fun and I really like them. Imo if you want to critque a game you should atleast finish it or state what made you eventually quit but if you dont like the game, it fine. Undertale is in that spot for me.. Just dont find it interesting and it bores me.

To be fair, the dating sim in SPM is meant to be a joke. In TTYD they play up TEC's love for Peach disturbingly straight (even if Peach questions it from time to time)

I will say. I did not like Origami King. Personally, I just did not enjoy the combat. I thought it was entertaining in parts. And I always love the writing in Paper Mario games, but I prefer to watch others (like Choctopus) play Origami King over playing it myself. I just find that more entertaining. I, like many, prefer TTYD. But that's the first Paper Mario I played, so I'm pretty biased. But I just liked the writing and combat better. But I do agree with Wario that when I first played the pig chapter, I found it EXTREMELY tedious as well. But overall, the Paper Mario franchise is still one of my favorites as a whole.

I think it is a rpg. Rpgs can happen when you switch on the fly. I think that's the point of however the game is played by turn based or switch on the fly, you play as specific characters, right? Mario as the obvious hero along side Luigi, the COOLER hero and better ability to jump higher, Peach being the underrated character female character, to which the fact an rpg always has at least one which is awesome, and Bowser being the necessary "evil" character you can NOW play finally, and see he's not soooo much of a bad guy. That's just me. But Super Paper Mario is a Classic! I agree and it is AMAZING! there is hate for it??? For Shame, those "fans". The OST is phenomenal and it gives you a very good playtime count. It's pretty long enough.
Same here, the battle system is very unbalanced in the players favor. Mario is absolutely broken compared to the NPCs (Which are mostly ripped from PM64, and weren't updated along with Mario's moveset.) Tec and Bowser could have been cut out of the game. Especially Bowser who they made into a incompetent moron. Then there's the backtracking. It's a good game but I feel PM64 is the better game. And Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga was better evolution of the Mario RPG formula.
I like Thousand Year Door, but I understand Wario's issues. Tbh I like the game more for its aesthetic/soundtrack and the way it expands on the first game's battle system.
That was my main issue with TTYD. The backtracking was awful. Also, I generally prefer the writing of the first Paper Mario and Super. PM1 just because it mainly just works with the basic Mario formula but in a comedic RPG fashion while still offering a decent showing and expansion, Super because I feel it greatly stands out among Mario's stories and is one of the best, if not the best, stories in the franchise.
The fans wanted turn-based combat, Nintendo gave them turn based combat. In all seriousness though, I personally love the game. Can't beat Color Splash though.

@@GoldenTGBIt’s it’s own thing, and I appreciate it for that. It isn’t supposed to be a regurgitation of the first two on a handheld console, and I’m fine with that. It was a fun little game that had some pretty neat ideas and started a trend of much more subtle storytelling and humor that I absolutely love. The robo-peeping Tom thing made me very uncomfortable myself. I honestly think the first two had stories that were a bit ham-fisted in their execution regarding balancing a serious story and making it more “family-friendly” by adding occasionally really hit-or-miss jokes. SPM’s take on having an outright dramatic and well fleshed-out tale with various specific outlets and sections with comedic backing that grow more selective as the story gets more intense felt very good for me. Important characters never got shafted for specific roles as jokes or expositors (like Bowser and Peach respectively) and the humor seemed a bit more contained into sets of tropes or cliches that played on the concepts in the different worlds, which I could appreciate. Still, with such a strange timeline in those three games, a soft reboot feels like it was an appropriate way to rebrand the series, and I think that, as the first step of a new style on a handheld console that was still in its infancy, it did a great job. It isn’t what the name would make you expect, but when you can be mature enough (or young enough in my case) to put aside the nostalgia and the history and just enjoy it as a game, it was a good time. Admittedly barebones, but for a dynamic 3DS RPG, it was nice. The later games feel more like a series of restyled shots at making Sticker Star work, and I think they prove that the game had a lot of potential. It isn’t perfect, but pretending the first two are is just as ridiculous. All the games in the series have flaws and things they could do much better, but Sticker Star is stuck with all the toxicity because it wasn’t what people demanded.
@@GoldenTGB honestly feel the game is more of a 4/10 in my experience. I don't know why but it felt strangely hostile to the player. Like there's so many things that feel like the game is actively trying to make you not have fun. There is some good parts to it but so much is just strangely or badly designed.

I will admit origami king felt like a good way to get around not being able to add new characters that stay in the Mario storyline by making the bosses all office supplies that are considered taboo in origami making(drawing on origami,taping or stapling it,etc)and Mario just full on mortal kombat fatalitying them.the most brutal one to me was the stapler acting like a dog where Mario pulled the top half of it so fucking hard with thousand arm fold that it’s jaw snapped and it died. Also I fucking love super paper Mario,but the part where you had to keep finding different fruits to wake up peach got annoying real fast when you realized the joke was gonna be only one of them actually worked

To be a little fair not everyone can voice act. Its not so much lazy as much as using a tool to fill an area you lack but i still agree with the sentiment. Personally i feel like ai gets treated just a little unfairly.

Personally beside Sticker Star, I think every Paper Mario is a blast to play through and that you could have any as your favorite and I would understand.
I hope we can all at least agree that while not everyone will like Super Paper Mario's gameplay, it is very creative and has a great story. To anyone who hasn't gotten the lore dumps from the bartender in Flopside, I highly encourage you to go do that. If I remember correctly, it gives some context on how the pixls were made, why the pure hearts are where they are, O'Chunks' origins, and probably some other stuff

You know, in this context, the argument of "I didn't even finish it" makes more sense. It's one of those arguments where neither side is really wrong, but you can't really judge people for losing patience and not waiting until the "Good part" if everything leading up to it has been a slog or just unenjoyable to them. And even then, people never seem to consider that even if they did finish it, they still might not enjoy it, and then what? Then they argue more and the person in question has had a worse experience with it overall? Geeze, I shouldn't be thinking this hard about a Family Guy parody.
Ok I love TTYD to death, it holds a special place in the highest part of my childhood, but the backtracking in chapter 4 is a bit much. You go to the steeple, you beat the boss, you're a shadow now, you go back to twilight town, go back to the steeple with vivian, get doopliss's name, go back AGAIN, confront him, go back AGAIN to the steeple. That's like, 5 trips, to the same place. Decently long trips. People call out the chapter 7 segment on backtracking but this is way worse. There's enemy encounters the whole way through, every time you go back through town you encounter doopliss and have to loop his dialogue, Chapter 4 was the best chapter on the first playthrough because it was so different and the tension made those trips way better but once you know what happens its just a trudge.
Exactly. TTYD used to be my favorite, but replays has made it go down. Use to be #1, then there was a 3-way tie for one, now it’s tied for second. I worried the remake will lower it more, but we’ll see.

I don't agree with Wario's opinions on TTYD, but I get everything else. Origami King and Super Paper Mario are both great games, and people only hate them because they're different to what came before. On their own, they're absolutely amazing.
Super Paper Mario is probably one of my favourite games of all time. I really like how it combines platforming and RPG elements, the dialogue is golden and the story is amazing. The visuals are cool, the worlds are cool, I like everything about the game.
Haven’t played The 1000 years door yet but looking forward to doing so when the remake comes out. Also "you can’t judge the game without finishing it"… There’s this one TH-camr that said "Well, I don’t need to lick every sidewalks in the world to know I don’t like it. One is usually enough." Enough said… also love how Wario is fairly reasonable here and Toad is the one being judgemental.

As an adult, I definitely don't like TTYD nearly as much as i did as a teenager, and I enjoyed Color Splash just fine
Same here, the battle system is very unbalanced in the players favor. Mario is absolutely broken compared to the NPCs (Which are mostly ripped from PM64, and weren't updated along with Mario's moveset.) Tec and Bowser could have been cut out of the game. Especially Bowser who they made into a incompetent moron. Then there's the backtracking. It's a good game but I feel PM64 is the better game. And Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga was better evolution of the Mario RPG formula.

That was my main issue with TTYD. The backtracking was awful.
Also, I generally prefer the writing of the first Paper Mario and Super. PM1 just because it mainly just works with the basic Mario formula but in a comedic RPG fashion while still offering a decent showing and expansion, Super because I feel it greatly stands out among Mario's stories and is one of the best, if not the best, stories in the franchise.

I just dislike the game as battles feel pointless. The partners are pretty bad, and all the memorable characters are replaced with toads.
I still like The Thousand Year Door, It's OK if those who couldn't get into the game.

Its definitely the worst Paper Mario game, but I don't think it deserves all the hate. Its a 6/10, but I liked going through the areas and collecting Things. Something about that makes me happy, and Ive 100%ed the game multiple times
@@GoldenTGBIt’s it’s own thing, and I appreciate it for that. It isn’t supposed to be a regurgitation of the first two on a handheld console, and I’m fine with that. It was a fun little game that had some pretty neat ideas and started a trend of much more subtle storytelling and humor that I absolutely love. The robo-peeping Tom thing made me very uncomfortable myself. I honestly think the first two had stories that were a bit ham-fisted in their execution regarding balancing a serious story and making it more “family-friendly” by adding occasionally really hit-or-miss jokes. SPM’s take on having an outright dramatic and well fleshed-out tale with various specific outlets and sections with comedic backing that grow more selective as the story gets more intense felt very good for me. Important characters never got shafted for specific roles as jokes or expositors (like Bowser and Peach respectively) and the humor seemed a bit more contained into sets of tropes or cliches that played on the concepts in the different worlds, which I could appreciate. Still, with such a strange timeline in those three games, a soft reboot feels like it was an appropriate way to rebrand the series, and I think that, as the first step of a new style on a handheld console that was still in its infancy, it did a great job. It isn’t what the name would make you expect, but when you can be mature enough (or young enough in my case) to put aside the nostalgia and the history and just enjoy it as a game, it was a good time. Admittedly barebones, but for a dynamic 3DS RPG, it was nice. The later games feel more like a series of restyled shots at making Sticker Star work, and I think they prove that the game had a lot of potential.
It isn’t perfect, but pretending the first two are is just as ridiculous. All the games in the series have flaws and things they could do much better, but Sticker Star is stuck with all the toxicity because it wasn’t what people demanded.
@@GoldenTGB honestly feel the game is more of a 4/10 in my experience. I don't know why but it felt strangely hostile to the player. Like there's so many things that feel like the game is actively trying to make you not have fun.
There is some good parts to it but so much is just strangely or badly designed.

I will admit origami king felt like a good way to get around not being able to add new characters that stay in the Mario storyline by making the bosses all office supplies that are considered taboo in origami making(drawing on origami,taping or stapling it,etc)and Mario just full on mortal kombat fatalitying them.the most brutal one to me was the stapler acting like a dog where Mario pulled the top half of it so fucking hard with thousand arm fold that it’s jaw snapped and it died.
Also I fucking love super paper Mario,but the part where you had to keep finding different fruits to wake up peach got annoying real fast when you realized the joke was gonna be only one of them actually worked

To be a little fair not everyone can voice act. Its not so much lazy as much as using a tool to fill an area you lack but i still agree with the sentiment. Personally i feel like ai gets treated just a little unfairly.

It completely dismisses the purpose of hard work and talent, it’s like Syndromes quote from the Incredibles. “When everyone’s super, no one will be.” AI is the worst thing that can happen to the creative industry.

Ai voices as the current example right, can give people a starting point and help them learn how to write. Plus it isnt just type and done. They way your talking it seems like someone could write the best story of our age but if they dare use even a single ai voice then you would say it is lazy and trash. Personally beside Sticker Star, I think every Paper Mario is a blast to play through and that you could have any as your favorite and I would understand.
I hope we can all at least agree that while not everyone will like Super Paper Mario's gameplay, it is very creative and has a great story. To anyone who hasn't gotten the lore dumps from the bartender in Flopside, I highly encourage you to go do that. If I remember correctly, it gives some context on how the pixls were made, why the pure hearts are where they are, O'Chunks' origins, and probably some other stuff

You know, in this context, the argument of "I didn't even finish it" makes more sense. It's one of those arguments where neither side is really wrong, but you can't really judge people for losing patience and not waiting until the "Good part" if everything leading up to it has been a slog or just unenjoyable to them. And even then, people never seem to consider that even if they did finish it, they still might not enjoy it, and then what? Ok I love TTYD to death, it holds a special place in the highest part of my childhood, but the backtracking in chapter 4 is a bit much. You go to the steeple, you beat the boss, you're a shadow now, you go back to twilight town, go back to the steeple with vivian, get doopliss's name, go back AGAIN, confront him, go back AGAIN to the steeple. That's like, 5 trips, to the same place. Decently long trips. People call out the chapter 7 segment on backtracking but this is way worse. There's enemy encounters the whole way through, every time you go back through town you encounter doopliss and have to loop his dialogue, Chapter 4 was the best chapter on the first playthrough because it was so different and the tension made those trips way better but once you know what happens its just a trudge.
Exactly. TTYD used to be my favorite, but replays has made it go down. Use to be #1, then there was a 3-way tie for one, now it’s tied for second. I worried the remake will lower it more, but we’ll see.

Super Paper Mario is probably one of my favourite games of all time. I really like how it combines platforming and RPG elements, the dialogue is golden and the story is amazing. The visuals are cool, the worlds are cool, I like everything about the game.
Of course Luigi would like Super Paper Mario, it's got Mr. L in it, who totally isn't Luigi by the way.
