I'm used to BA business class. And have tried First class once (upgraded). To be honest, I would not pay several times the price of business to get a first. The seat wasn't that much wider, toilet was same as economy (and as narrow which makes it difficult to change into the PJ provided by BA). And at Heathrow, apart from the Concord lounge, no special service, no first class lines or taxiing service (same as for business class passengers). I can understand the added value in paying more to be able to sleep in business and arrive in good shape (Vs economy), but I don't see much gain for first class.

Good points. I think that BA ex-LHR (and JFK), where you can use the First Wing/First Check-In, Dedicated Security, a good 3 hours in the CCR (Chelsea Lounge, JFK), onto the flight (which is unfortunately short), is a very premium experience. Great Champagnes, tequila, scotch choices, and meals prior to flight, as well as onboard. Good Concorde Breakfast room if terminating at LHR too.
But connecting in LHR, or getting your connection limited by delays and missing the CCR, etc, then you really do miss the premium elements of BA F.
And, as you pointed out, the toilet situation onboard the 777's is not premium at all!

BA First is basically a Business plus product. It's only really worth it if the aircraft you are flying isn't already equipped with the new Club Suites.

The products are very different. Club World isn’t First.

I agree that in many ways it's really a Business Plus service. The plus being Concorde Room/Chelsea Lounge/Concorde Breakfast Room and maybe (hit and miss) better food on the plane and better service when the crew deliver. For me the question is how much more is one paying for that. Depending on how much the difference is, it may be worth it as a one-off experience or something to treat oneself on a special occasion (think honeymoon) otherwise what will really sway it for me is wanting a better bed on an overnight flight when the aircraft doesn't have Club Suite.

@@obamtl It’s fascinating that some people think that because BA uses the reverse herringbone design for both classes, they believe that First is just business ‘plus’, whatever that means. The amount of room in the First pod is entirely different from Club World (and Suites) - wider seats, larger bed, companion seat, much larger screen, tons more space to store items, amenity kits/pajamas, and MUCH more personal service, with a staff ratio of 1:4, and proper meal service. Of course, the Concorde Room is light years better than the business class lounges, particularly if one books a Cabana private room, like I always do. Really, no comparison between the 2 products.

I agree. This produce is little more than business class (at least on Emirates). The sound was muffled.

On a side note, the best business class seat I like on BA is the window seat on the upper deck of the A380 😊. Lots of privacy and storage.

Totally agree! I’ll be posting my review of the A380 in club soon

We always fly First on BA as it's their only 'real' business product. The new Club Suites have elevated their CW hard product but it's still just ok for daylight flights, too cramped to sleep in. We flew to Santiago in Chile last week on a 787-9 ( G-ZBKA ) First, and we were shocked at how tatty they have become, and how everything is falling apart in the cabin. in just 8 years service. We came back on a slightly newer aircraft that was a bit better. Is this an old trip as they don't serve LPGS these days, and haven't for a while now??

Yes, nothing really more than an improved BA Business Class here…
The prices of all BA flights have gone up, but like reeeeally gone up even in economy long and short haul.
BA is trying to step up in the service but there are still some issues at airports and on flights.

Where BA really embarrass themselves is the toilet area, no different from the rest of the plane. Just compare it with a similar priced flight with Emerates.

I would not fly BA ever again, it's over priced and a very poor service.

I flew LHR to SAN on BA. I paid extra for a seat in the upper deck of the 747. BA bugged me via email to select my meal order; after some 6 emails, I relented.
The seats in the upper-deck were "fishbone" type with a basic plastic screen separating the face of another passenger. My seat was a tiny plastic seat, no full-recline. My meal choice was not available and was served by 2 aging 222 lb. behemoths with bad attitude.
    Never again!

That’s smaller than business class on Singapore airlines……it’s a poor product in relation to the other carriers.
BA stands for budget airlines as that’s all you get….shame as they were world leaders at one point….how the mighty have fallen!
